Chapter 49 - Sports Festival Arc VII

Kirishima and Tetsutetsu's arm wrestling match was won by Kirishima. At the end of the match, Izuku left Ochaco's side. Instead of watching Kirishima's match, he went to visit Ochaco. As he walked from the nurses' station to the corridor leading to the ring, he ran into Endeavour. Meanwhile, Ikiru was sitting in his seat in the stands, eating his popcorn. He followed Endeavour and Izuku's conversation with his Zone ability. Thanks to Levi's research, he knew that Endeavour was an erectile male. He probably suffered from small dick syndrome. Otherwise, it couldn't be normal for him to be so obsessed with another man's position.

Endeavour had openly humiliated Izuku and threatened him. But Izuku's reaction was to think of his friend. Ikiru didn't know that and didn't care. Soon after, Shoto and Izuku got in the ring. They talked amongst themselves. Meanwhile, Endeavour yelled at Shoto from the stands, telling him to use his other Quirk. The match then began. Izuku was on the defence, while Shoto was on the active offence. Using his Ice Quirk, he tried to neutralise Izuku or knock him out of the ring. Izuku's response was to stop the attacks with an OFA focused on his fingers.

"Why is he defending instead of attacking? His lack of control over Quirk will be to his disadvantage if the match drags on. It doesn't look like he's chasing an opportunity," Jiro said, confused. By this time, Izuku had already broken all the fingers on his right hand. "Instead of trying to win, he seems to be trying to help Shoto. I can't quite hear the conversation between their attacks, but for some reason, Izuku is trying to convince him that he should use Shoto's other Quirk," Momo said, also confused.

"Hahaha, how did they get these people into the 'best' hero school? One of them is trying to help his opponent rather than defeat him. The other, for some reason, is trying to win by not doing his best. How stupid," Ikiru said sarcastically. "At least they act like heroes," Mina said, remembering Ikiru's earlier speech about heroes. Just as Ikiru was about to make an arse of Mina.

"Is that so? Isn't the purpose of this event to give hope to the public of future heroes? If Izuku wants to help his friend, is the place to do it at a sports festival that millions of people are curiously watching? Instead of giving people hope, one recklessly harms himself, and the other shows that he puts personal ambition above all else. What a great example of heroism indeed!" said Momo, insulting the stupid pink girl.

While they were talking among themselves, Ochaco returned to the stands. She had heard Momo's words. "The duty of heroes is to help people. Izuku is trying to help his friend rather than win. I see great heroism here," Tenya said as he adjusted his glasses. "Change your glasses, because you obviously can't see shit. Although that could also be because you're stupid. The most important job of heroes is to give people hope. Secondly, to help people. And they should do it as heroically as possible. What Izuku shows people by hurting himself is how reckless he is. It's a competition, you idiot. The point is to win by putting on a show. Why am I tiring myself out, you're not worth my time," Ikiru said, not taking his eyes off the ring.

Just as Ochaco opened her mouth, Shoto began to use his other Quirk. "Be careful, because I won't hold back anymore," said Shoto Todoroki. Izuku grinned and activated OFA on his left leg and right arm. Todoroki unleashed a huge ice attack, much faster than his previous attacks. Izuku leapt forward and punched in response to Todoroki's attack.

Midnight and Cementoss tried to stop the fight but failed. A huge explosion destroyed the ring. As a result of the combination of the two attacks, a huge cloud of dust filled the entire stadium. When the smoke subsided, Shoto was barely standing. However, he was still in the ring area. Izuku, unconscious, was buried against the arena wall. His right arm was completely broken. His left leg was in the same condition. "He's in terrible shape, was that really necessary? Izuku tore himself apart so Shoto could use his other Quirk. I wouldn't like to have been in Izuku's mother's situation," said Jiro.

Jiro's words deeply affected many who heard her. They were all so excited by the moment that they forgot that their families were also watching the festival. They all wanted to be heroes, but they were unaware of the responsibilities and disadvantages of this 'job'. Ikiru and Momo understood this very well. Momo knew this thanks to the wealth of her family and the education she received from Mikasa. Ikiru, on the other hand, was much more mature and conscious than the others. This awareness allowed him to realise that his heroic profession would be a mark on him and his family.

Meanwhile, Midnight had declared Shoto the winner. There was a brief intermission because the ring was destroyed. Once the ring was repaired, the match between Ikiru and Ibara began. Ikiru was standing in the ring, looking at Ibara. The girl exuded a different kind of glamour due to her hair and aura. "Feel free to do whatever you can, you can't hurt me. So, use everything you have. That way, you'll put on a good performance," Ikiru said as he approached Ibara with good intentions.

"Then I apologise in advance. I hope you are as strong as you say you are," Ibara said as she clasped her hands together and prayed to God. Midnight took this speech as a sign and started the match. Ibara immediately used her Quirk. Her hair grew long and pierced the ring floor. Ikiru walks towards Ibara with his hands in his pockets. Suddenly, ivy shoots up from the ground in front of Ikiru. Ikiru didn't stop and kept walking. Just as the ivy was about to attack him, it was crushed and merged into the ground.

"Your Quirk has a lot of potential. But you must increase your control over it. With only your hair, controlling the ivy is a big disadvantage," Ikiru said as he destroyed the ivy that kept attacking him. Ibara was getting more and more nervous every second. "Take my Quirk for example, it gives me a telekinetic power. In the early stages, I could only control this power with my body movements, but I got rid of this limitation by increasing my control. What you need to do is to try to feel the ivy around you, if you succeed, your progress will increase rapidly," Ikiru said as he stood right in front of Ibara.

Ibara wrapped herself using the ivy with her hair. She formed thorns on the ivy. "You decided to do the stupidest thing you could do in front of me," Ikiru said as he forced open the ivy wrapping Ibara, lifted her off the ground, and let her float. "I don't want to hurt you, you're too cute for that," Ikiru said with a smile as he turned around and prepared to get out of the ring. By this time, Ibara was already out of the ring, about to touch the ground. Using her Quirk, she was trying to control the ivy. However, Ikiru had wrapped her body with his psychic power, so she couldn't move an inch. So the ivy with hair couldn't move either.

When Ibara made contact with the ground, Midnight announced Ikiru as the winner. After the destruction of the previous match, watching a fight like this gave the audience a lot of satisfaction. Ikiru had been helping the girl throughout the entire match and had gently helped her out of the ring. He did this while Ibara's vines, which were attacking him from all sides, were pulverised. His control over Quirk, his handsome looks, and his gentle demeanour, unlike what he had shown in other matches, had the female audience especially enthralled.

Ikiru seemed to do nothing, but the way he handled Ibara's attacks had won him many male admirers. People were always more favourable towards the powerful and beautiful. And Ikiru had it all. As Ikiru entered the stadium again, he met Momo. The next match was between Momo and Mina. "Don't hold back in this match, kick her arse," Ikiru said, giving Momo a high five as he walked past her.

"As my husband wishes," Momo said, grinning, as she walked to the ring. Ikiru almost exploded when Mina stood up to him. Day by day, he regretted entering this school. By making a deal with the Hero Public Safety Commission, he could easily get a Hero licence. However, this would make it difficult for him to take a position in the war between AFO and OFA. Because the position he wanted was not to stand on the side of the state and be their dog. The revolution was coming, and Ikiru wanted to take part in it.
