Hosu on Fire

[A/N: Announcement on the author's notes at the end of the chapter. Make sure you read it from some new info!]

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sound of crashing windows was heard as a nearby shop was broken into and villains made their way out carrying bags of stolen products.

They barely made for steps when a kunai appeared on the ground and the first man felt his head grabbed and was slammed onto the concrete. The other two villains couldn't react as hands suddenly grabbed them by the neck and they disappeared, dropping their stolen goods to the floor.

Akio Kazuya, also known as the Red Flash, took a deep breath as he crouched down and touched the villain he slammed onto the ground, teleporting him towards individual prison cells the local police have set up in their efforts to save Hosu.

These villains, thugs really, all came out of the shadows in a huge wave when they saw that the number of heroes in Hosu had dwindled due to the now dubbed 'Hosu Massacre'. The streets are now riddled with robberies, muggers, murders, and even the occasional rape and drug dealers.

Due to this, Heroes from other agencies have been called in to combat this rising wave in crime. Mainly, two of the current top 5 Heroes. The Edgeshot agency and the Endeavour agency. Together, they managed to regain somewhat of a foothold of the chaotic situation.

Endeavor himself went on with Todoroki to one of the more active hotspots where the crimes are located. His firepower and strength crucial in spearheading the attack to take back the city.

Edgeshot however, went to clear the borders of Hosu. With his speed, covering that large of an area is plausible for him. He and Midoriya wanted to go with him as backup, but Edgeshot turned them down saying that for the current situation, it's best for him to go alone since they couldn't keep up yet. Of course, he and Midroiya tried to argue that they've gotten better since their first day of internships, but that was when the Ninja Hero proved them his rank when he folded his body and launched himself faster than the speed of sound.

Suffice to say, he and Midoriya were humbled.

It was in one of the briefings that he had been given the job to scour the city and engage as many villains as he can. With his quirk, he's able to transport villains towards safeguarded cells in an instant. Midoriya served as his backup just in case one of the villains prove to be a bigger threat than the rest.

Speaking of which…

Kazuya looked behind him to see Midoriya who just landed after scouting the surrounding area.

"This district is clear. Looks like we got 'em all." Midoriya said in an uncharacteristic serious voice. Looks like Midoriya really had his eyes opened onto the nature of everyday hero work. He seems distracted, and Kazuya could only assume that's due to one of their classmates.

The first thing he, Midoriya, and Todoroki did when they arrived in Hosu was to check on their friend, Iida. There was no news of his death, but that doesn't mean he couldn't be injured or something.

Their concerns grew even more when they met him. Iida's eyes were red and puffy, as if he spent the last few days crying. Which wasn't a surprise considering what happened to his brother. However, what made them worried the most was the look on his face.

Iida looked angry, terribly so. To the point that veins could be seen nearly popping from his forehead.

Seeing that, Kazuya immediately tried talking to him, to make sure he's okay and to not do anything stupid.

All he got was a simple 'I'm fine' and Iida walked away. Not knowing what to do, they just decided to let him be to grieve.

Nodding towards Midoriya, Kazuya then flashed up to a nearby rooftop, looking at the broken city around him.

The world they live in is dangerous, and heroes serve as the first line of defense against anyone that threatens their peace. When that first line is breached, chaos ensues. Hosu is living proof of it.

He and Midoriya were just about to continue scouring the city when a massive explosion erupted a mere two blocks from their location.

The two young heroes simply glanced at each other before disappearing, intent on finding out just what exactly is going on.

After arriving in the location, they were met with a huge villain currently out on a rampage, his size almost reaching the buildings around him. He was currently battling Moe Kamiki, also known as Burnin', a famous sidekick from the Endeavour Agency.

In addition to its massive stature, the villain was apparently also capable of turning their hands into rotating metallic drills. Its destructive capabilities made Burnin' a little hesitant to come in close. Her attempts at long range attacks also proved to be naught as the drills proved much too durable for Burnin' to melt through.

They first watched as the Pro Hero took flight with her powers and hurled fireballs at the giant villain. The villain's body gained charred and burn marks in the process, but was far from being taken down.

Kazuya narrowed his eyes as he thought of the best way to tackle this. Burnin' was taking its full attention, and although she's proven to be more of a match for the villain, it would take far too long for her to finish the job. Time that they might need since the rest of the city is still in danger.

However, just outright teleporting the giant to the prepared holding cells is probably a bad idea. The local police didn't have the time nor the resources to hold something this big. Which means they're going to have to take him down and keep him down till the day is done.

Kazuya was forced out of his thought process as the giant villain lifted up a truck and threw it towards Burnin's direction.

Kazuya immediately reacted by flashing forwards while throwing another kunai towards the giant. He teleported next to the airborne truck and quickly held a hand against it, the truck reappearing right in front of the villain, its momentum true as it slammed towards the face of the giant, staggering it.

Midoriya moved just a second later, appearing right underneath the giant's chin.

"SMASH!"

Midoriya uppercutted the villain powered by 6% of One for All, resulting in the man to fall to the ground. Creating a small tremor to be felt around the entire block.

The consecutive attacks was proven to be enough as the villain suddenly reduced in size and was apparently unconscious.

"You are… Red Flash and Deku!" Burnin' said in surprise as she landed back on the ground. She looked at the unconscious villain and then towards the two interns before adorning a massive grin and gave them a thumbs up.

"AHAHA! Thanks for the assist kids! As expected of Edgeshot's interns!" She exclaimed excitedly.

"Just doing our jobs, ehehe." Midoriya awkwardly replied as he scratched the back of his neck.

Kazuya himself was approaching the downed villain before touching him and sending him away.

Burnin' whistled. "That's a pretty handy ability you got there. So you could just send all captured villains immediately into prison, huh?"

"Yep." Kazuya shrugged. "It's pretty useful. With this, we should be able to cut a lot of time in transferring the villains into holding facilities. God knows we need all the time we can get with everything going on."

"I hear you, kiddo." Burnin' sighed. "To think that this entire mess happened due to the League of Villains." She said as she looked at the city around her. Roads were cracked, buildings were broken, windows shattered, cars upturned. It was all just pure and utter chaos.

"In any case, I gotta back up Endeavour at the city center. Heard he had a situation and needed more people on it. You two should come with." She said as she started to float. She then blasted off at the end of sentence, not even looking back at the two students after her request.

Kazuya and Midoriya didn't need to spare a word as they immediately followed.

— The Warping Hero —

Shoto Todoroki slammed his foot on the ground, waves of ice coming into life trapping 6 villains in place. He then quickly jerked his arm to the side, catching a metal bar, instantly freezing along with the man carrying it.

He let out a breath of cold air before igniting his left side, making him give a sigh of content as his body temperature balanced out.

Todoroki then looked to the side to see Endeavour with dozens of villains knocked out around him.

"Shoto, restrain them." Endeavour ordered.

He just nodded as a wave of ice locked the knocked out villains in place.

They then continued on their way towards an ongoing robbery. They were running ahead when a sudden rise in temperature caught their attention and a blue jet flame came barreling towards them from the street.

Todoroki barely managed to raise an ice wall in time to protect himself before the flames reached him.

Endeavour countered with his own flames that managed to push back the blue flames. This resulted in the attack dissipating into the air.

Todoroki looked into the street to see a young man, around his mid 20s with spiky black hair and burn marks all over his skin.

"Who are you?" Endeavour questioned with a scowl.

"Who knows? I wasn't planning on fighting you, but let's just say meeting you like this is an opportunity of a lifetime." The man said with a grin on his face as he spread his arms.

Todoroki could see Endeavour frowning as he took in what the villain said. 'He's probably someone who's got a grudge or something against the old man. Being the number 2 hero allows for plenty of enemies after all.' Todoroki thinks.

That was when the dark haired man sent balls of blue fire against them. Endeavour immediately summoned his own flames as spears made of fire came to life and struck the balls mid air. The resulting crash created a mighty explosion of flame that caused one of the tall buildings around them to catch fire.

"Tch, Shoto get on it!" Endeavour said as he lessened his power output to try and minimize the damages as possible while continuing to fight the villain.

Todoroki immediately heeded the order as he conjured an ice pillar to get him up towards the building. He then quickly surveyed the damage and sighed in relief as the damage wasn't as big as he originally thought. It didn't hit any important foundations so the building was free from having a potential fall.

But still, just because there was no risk in crumbling doesn't mean there were no casualties. Most of the civilians were all heeded to stay indoors to prevent them getting into the crossfire in the fight for Hosu. So chances are, a building as big as this definitely had people in them that required medical attention.

Quickly reaching the section of the building that was impacted by the explosion, he immediately landed on a broken floor before dousing all the flames with his ice. The entire burning portion of the building was immediately encased in a sheen of cold ice. Around him, people were screaming and running from the chaos. Some were obviously disoriented form the explosion while others had cuts from the broken windows.

Reinforcing the broken walls and roofs with his ice for a temporary patching, he then immediately went to help a fallen elderly man up to his feet before going to others that needed help. Noticing a middle aged woman still crumpled on the floor, he immediately went to her side to look her for injuries.

"Are you okay, maam?"

"M-My leg…"

Todoroki looked toward the appendage only to grimace. There was a nasty burn on both her legs, reaching all the way from her ankles to her knees.

Todoroki then immediately began applying burn cream and ointments on her wounds, bandaging the injury as best as he could before picking her up bridal style and carrying towards the stairs.

Seeing the rest of the civilians standing around like headless chickens (he didn't blame them, especially considering the bright flashes of light and sudden rises in temperature means Endeavour is still fighting out there), he screamed at them to take to follow him.

"Are there any exits that lead to the otherside of the building?" he asked a man that was running beside him, judging from his way of dress, he was most likely a worker in the building.

"Y-Yes! There is a door from the kitchens that lead outside. It's mostly used by maintenance people."

"Perfect, lead us there."

The man nodded as he took the lead, allowing Todoroki and the rest of the people to follow. It didn't take long for them to reach the doors to the outside.

What did surprise him though, was running into his class president and classmate on the street the doors opened to.

"Kazuya, Midoriya!" he exclaimed in surprise.

"Todoroki!" Midoriya shouted with a smile. The smile immediately turned to worry as he analyzed the injured woman his classmate was carrying along with the others.

"What happened here?" Burnin' asked with a serious expression on her face.

"They got caught in an explosion. Endeavour is still apprehending the perpetrator as we speak." Todoroki explained.

She nodded at the information. "Very well. Flash, Deku, you two help Shoto escort the civilians to a safe place. I'll assist Endeavour with the villain."

All three immediately nodded as they each helped an injured civilian before leading them away.

Todoroki looked back towards the street where he came from, flashes of red and blue flames could still be seen from behind the buildings.

He then turned away, focusing on his job in the rescue op before parting with a thought.

'Stay safe old man.'

— The Warping Hero —

Endeavour grunted as a stream of blue fire licked his cheek before he brushed it off and continued in his effort in rushing the villain. Flames from his back boosting his speed.

His tolerance for flames might be high, but the blue flames his opponent had are apparently hot enough to pierce even his resistance. Seriously, the villain might not have too much going on in terms of technique, but his power output is nothing to scoff at.

Usually, he could handle these types of villains easily enough. But the fact that their flames, when clashing, would combine and create a big explosion is a cause of concern. He's caused enough damage to his surroundings, he can't be called a hero if he acts all recklessly now can he?

The issue lies in the fact that his opponent isn't as restricted as he is, which means that the dark haired villain has no qualms in using destructive techniques in his effort to kill the number 2. If this keeps going, not even he could handle the amount of heat already palpable in the air.

But what bothers him the most is how eerily familiar the villain is to him. It's like an old memory that's trying to resurface but is just barely keeping on the edge of his mind. The blue flames, the spiky hair, the strong jawline. For a moment, an image appeared replacing the mad villain in front of him. But instead of the tall, scarred, black haired villain, the image showed a child with white hair, grinning towards him with all the innocence in the world.

He mentally shook his head, dissipating the image before him. Now's not the time for distractions.

Endeavour quickly reached his opponent before throwing a point blank jet flame from his fist. The young man was forced to cross his arms facing Endeavour with his palms creating his own flames in an effort to block the attack.

The resulting explosion knocked them both back where the villain was sent skipping towards the street. Endeavour himself managed to regain his balance quickly enough with the aid from the flames on his back.

Immediately taking advantage of the opening, Endeavour rushes towards his recovering opponent while engulfing his arm in flames before delivering a powerful right hook.

"Vanishing Fist!"

The attack managed to connect with the man's jaw, sending him flying towards a bus, folding it in half with the impact.

Seeing his opponent finally unconscious, Endeavour lowered his fist and dissipated the flames around it. He was just about to take the man into custody when someone called for him.

"Endeavour-san!"

Glancing sideways, he could see Burnin' appear flying from the corner street. Seeing that it was just her, he walked towards the prone villain.

However, before both heroes could react, the villain's body was swallowed by a purple shadowy gate before it completely disappeared. Endeavour scowled at the fact he failed to capture the villain, especially considering he recognized the quirk in action belonging to one of the League of Villain's top officers.

Burnin' was kicking herself for distracting Endeavour before she followed him, intent on finishing the job.

Dabi meeting Todoroki and Endeavour this early was actually unplanned. I worked it in by a commission from one of my patrons. This is for you Anthony. Hope it's satisfactory.

Hosu definitely suffered quite a lot from these attacks. We'll see the results of these in the next chapter. The aftermath ain't pretty I tell you.

In any case, I'm here to announce a small hiatus. I'm in my third year of college and exams are coming up. It'll probably be a week or two at most before I come back to posting regularly.

Also, I'm planning to post another fic soon. It's called Marionette of Suna and will be Naruto fanfic based on the life of a budding pupeteer in the Hidden Sand Village. It'll be coming up soon, so make sure to keep a lookout!
