1 Chapter 1 - So much for promise

*Thud*

*Thump*

*Pitter*

Sounds of running raced across the downpour of rain, though the thumps could only be heard in proximity. A mother and son ran through the cold wetness. But it was not out of fun, no.

"Leo, honey!" The mother called out in worry, making the child glance up. "A little further, almost there; can you do that?" The mom's voice was almost pleading, trying to sound normal within the unusual terrain a family finds themselves in.

In response to his mother's request, the young boy activates his quirk, his individuality within the uniques of the world. With a soft golden glow in his legs, his pace picked up speed, catching up to his mother.

Minutes later, the child could be seen huffing. His eyes showed tired confusion, a mere child running with his mom in the rain. A joy to others, but the language his mom's body sends takes the joy out of it.

"M-Mom!" the young boy shouts, attempting to gain his mom's attention. But through the hard pattering of rainfall, his voice died with the raindrops.

Not gaining his mother's attention, he clings to the hems of her clothing. This time, he got it.

Looking back at her son, the mother could not keep up appearances. Instead of answering back, she quickly scoops her son up. "Mom! Why are we running!? I thought playtime was already over!?"

Barrage after barrage of questions, each one highlighting the innocence of a child. 'T-this wasn't what was promised! Not what HE promised!' the mother cursed internally, drowning her sweet child's questions.

"Don't worry, dear. We are almost near the boats. You like boats, don't you?" The mother said, trying to divert her son's worries elsewhere. However, the rain was doing a poor job of helping the mom with the situation.

It made everything wet, heavy, and cold. Not perfect for whatever it is the duo ran from.

As the mother charged through the army of droplets, she felt she regained some much-needed energy from all the running. The workings of her quirk, the thing that wrenched everything.

Her quirk was bonkers. If quirks had a grading system to it, then hers would be the hidden Triple S rank. However, that was in terms of potential... and, add in potential dangers; in there as well.

For her, her DNA history is dramatic. One filled with so much crammed history that it might as well be a subject.

For her name is Shimura Yuna. Yes, that Shimura. The daughter of none other than Japan's former Number One Hero, Shimura Nana.

And because of her historical name, developing and training her quirk was an ill path. Not unless you were actively seeking someone's attention. That same someone laid the very Nana to rest.

With her quirk, she could go beyond her physical limits. Even further than other super strength quirks. However, because of its untrained nature, there were 'mysteries' to it. At times, she could fly like Nana, speed up unnaturally, and ignore air resistance. To the civilian child of Nana, her quirk was a time bomb in her eyes.

Especially when Yuna knew the history of Nana, but not through Nana's mouth, her disciple's. In short, All Might. Even if All Might was the disciple of her mom, he kept his distance from Yuna and Leo. Although, he gave her a promise and asked a request to her.

"As long as I stand, I will protect you from the shadows, Young Yuna. But all I ask is you live a normal life away from Japan, where his influence is strongest." These were his words to Yuna all those years ago.

And in those years leading up to the present, Yuna made a family of her own - in Greece. Her husband was a local hero whose quirk was Energy Manipulation.

And the reason her beloved isn't running with her and their child. It is because he is holding the people seeking to harm her and Leo back by whatever means necessary.

*VBOOOM!*

Before Leo could reply about boats. An immense pulse of energy exploded miles behind them. Causing quite a tremor in the area, alerting every sleeping resident.

Seeing the horrific light show behind, Yuna could only cry silent tears. 'M-My love, I-I will keep our son safe. Even with their broken promise.'

Yuna confirmed the one chasing her relates to her family's history and that her husband is a hero for public order. Her husband was content with keeping the area safe, not fighting the dangerous criminals in major cities.

And for her husband to go all out, this was not some nighttime crook. This was a legitimate villain going after her family.

Ignoring the burning sensation in her legs, she re-activated her quirk once again. Furthering herself and Leo from danger.

-Before the explosion-

Many versus one.

A pack against a lone wolf.

"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US!?" Atreus bellowed from the depth of his heart. He'd do anything at this point. Just to make these scum turn tail and cause mayhem elsewhere.

'Fuck heroic ideals! That saves civilians but not the family,' he internalized. He was ready to take all these villains with him. Coming to a decision, he slowly guided the energy into his core, the sternum.

After his shout, the mastermind behind the operations showed themselves. Classic villains.

*Splick*

*Splack*

Dress shoes tapped against the puddles, announcing the leader's appearance. "Well, well, well. Who knew a street-local hero could fight so well?" The person, a man, monologues while observing the burnt bodies that lay dead.

"Tell me, were you planted to marry and impregnate the girl? After all, no no-name hero could fight as well as you do. And to kill as well? Well, aren't you different?"

Atreus quietly stood there, letting the villain ramble on with his theories. Aye, they placed him there to protect her. But to marry and impregnate, nay, that was not.

As he stood, he observed as well. Twenty villains, all with unknown quirks, quite the pickle he's in. "So, are my thou-" before the villain could finish, a spear of golden energy impaled three villains at once, silencing him immediately.

"I appreciate your prattling, but I have to cut you short," Atreus intoned. "You malákas will see why I am called the Spartan Hero: Pantheon!" Without wasting breath, he summoned a shield of energy and dashed for the nearest clump of villains. His dash did not stop. Nay, he continued.

His continuation bashed through enemies, successfully injuring their ranks. Of course, they weren't all cannon fodder; some dodged, while others grabbed others as meat shields.

As the fight continued, the leader casually watched and coordinated with his men; already thinking he had won. 'I'm wasting time; he's letting me waste time. Honestly, heroes lack the thinking department.'

As the Pantheon fought, he, too, accumulated injuries. One increased in size, the other blasted the elements at him, and others were simple strength augmentation.

A colorful bunch?

As the fight went on to the minutes, the Pantheon felt it. 'Ah, it's my time.' He knew to win was not his goal. Nope, it was actually not within his reach.

He was tired from previous fights and had no other hero to help him in his struggles. The disadvantage of a rural community, he supposes.

Faking his weakness, he kneeled on one knee as a sign of exhaustion. At this sign, the leader was in jubilee. "Ha Ha! Finally! You didn't fight like a hero there. You fought like a man!"

A compliment? An insult? He didn't care.

"Huff... Huff..." Atreus was panting. His chest felt tight and glowed. He was making a sacrifice. There would be no saving from this. In his last moment, he would burst like a star.

The villains seeing his kneeling form, attempted to peg shots at him - clear signs of grudges. But the leader stopped them with a wave of his hand.

"Since it's your last moments, hero. I, the villain, shall introduce myself." The villain monologues, but Atreus tunes it out. The energy within him was on the brink of exploding.

"And so, just remember, before I devour you and capture your family. That... All For One sends his regards," finishing his monologue. His mouth took a strange turn.

It contorted and expanded in size, showing many rows of sharp teeth, enough to fit a human body. This villain was a henchman of All For One. His quirk allowed him to devour people and use their quirks. However, that quirk vanishes once the digestion is complete.

Seeing the mouth near him, Atreus could only say goodbye to his family, especially his son, in his heart.

'Leo, I am not strong enough, for I am only a man.'

'But... As a man, I will always stand. I could not stand by your side. But I will always stand behind you both — always watching you and your mother.' Gazing up at the rows of teeth, he only said one thing left, "Ái sto diáolo. [Go to Hell.]"

*VBOOOM*

And energy erupted from Atreus, incinerating everything in the vicinity.

Back with Yuna, they were at the boats, finally reaching her trusted friend.

"Talos! Thank Kami that you received the message!" Yuna, for once on this night, was relieved. The old man in question waved at her worries. He was a grizzly-looking green man with sharp, curved, elongated ears with a chin indented with lines.

A goblin to some, but he is actually a shape-shifter, a neat quirk. "Well, hurry on! I'm already past my golden years, and I'm still in the muck of bone-stressing movements."

Yuna could only smile and hand her son, a book attached to her. Thankfully, Leo fell asleep from the tiring confusion.

Talos, another confused person for the night, accepted the young lad and placed him softly on the deck. When he looked back at Yuna, he saw the face of sadness.

"Las... we got to go. Now." His tone was heavy. Thinking she had dumb ideas swimming in her tired mind.

"Y-You're right. We should." 'I had thoughts of leaving everything to Talos, thinking separating from Leo would be the best option for her safety. But as a mother, I can't. And Atreus' sacrifice would go in vain.' she thought to herself while boarding the Trawler boat.

As the boat sailed away, Yuna could only look back at the disappearing shoreline in mourning. 'Promise... so much for a promise, right, All Might?'
