24 Chapter 24: Transparency to the Rescue!

Recap:

Suijin, finding his chance, also spoke up.

"I too would like to resign from being vice president."

With that nobody was president and the vice president has been decided.

"How does this work then?"

"Yaoyorozu, due to the circumstances you were promoted to President."

*Ahem*

Yaoyorozu cleared her throat before waking up at the podium.

"I'm honored to accept the position of president however I have conditions I should accept, none too different from my contract however Ida and Shimizu both would be required to be my vice presidents."

"I'm not sure that's appropriate!"

"Second."

Naturally, the two in question disagree with the statement. Ignoring that she turned to their homeroom teacher.

"Sensei your thoughts."

'He's a lazy individual so there's no remembering her proposal.'

"I agree."

'Wha-'

Turning around she flashed a smile, "I look forward to working with everyone."

'So she had that mischievous side to her as well. ' Suijin looked at Mina who also looked smugly back at him as if it were her idea, and she was taking credit.

'She spurred Yaoyorozu on? How, I've been with her all day?'

Suijin was going to continue his thoughts but she stuck her tongue out at him and then turned around facing the front where the new President gave her congratulatory speech.

'On second thought it doesn't matter.' Suijin also faced forward, thankful for his Spray Bottle for a head as he felt it was extremely hot. Inwardly he was thinking of Mina's last action, mainly one phrase repeated on end.

'Cute.'

So their slightly less monotonous day continued on. President Mic teaches English in a boisterous way, having everyone come up and sing lines from one of his favorite US bands, the Beatles.

There was Midnight teaching history in a rather…odd manner. Enunciating on parts dealing with slaves of war giving subtle winks to certain students.

'Wonder if this is Legal?'

As Suijin entertained such thoughts he couldn't wait for the day to end, that was before someone barged into their class.

"I AM HERE!"

With that, the #1 Hero in all of Japan, someone Suijin, surprisingly, wasn't meeting for the first time, All Might appeared.

The moral of the class rose as all the sleepiness that subtly infected everyone was washed away.

"ALL MIGHT!"

"HIS HERO AGE SUIT!"

Suijin looked at the famous hero with the reverence of others, but a hint of determination was there as well.

He unconsciously set the #1 as a goal, something he plans on achieving in his lifetime, and so his gaze was different from others while similar to some.

Most notable were Bakugo Katsuki, and Shoto Todoroki who both had similar desires within their gaze.

All Might shifted, but tried to ignore the fanaticism he often felt and got straight to the point.

"YOUNG HERO'S PREPARE FOR THE TRIAL OF BATTLE! TO ACCOMPANY YOU WE'VE PREPARED THE GEAR WE HAD YOU SEND IN."

All Might watched as everyone got their suitcase that corresponds with their seat number.

"CHANGE, AND REMEMBER FROM NOW ON YOU ALL HEROES!"

Suijin walked out of the tunnel with his classmates and faced the desolate city. Abandoned cracked buildings and streets that looked like All Might himself destroyed them lay in his sight.

He couldn't help but sigh at the money it must have taken to make this. Speaking of money Suijin once again inspected himself.

A standard blue construction jumpsuit laid on his chest in remembrance of his father but unlike his, Suijin's had some special features.

The material was flexible and durable but the main feature was the tubes resembling the one Hospitals stuck into you, which were on each of his five fingers and then converged into one big tube running down his forearm and disappearing into the Suit.

They were water distributors who could move water from where they were connected, to the tips of his hands, then connecting to the open holes on his fingertips Suijin would not need to worry about how to procure water.

There was another feature about it being connected to a certain 'area' but Suijin preferred nobody to know about the 'hidden' what-if feature he added.

Finished inspecting himself he turned and looked at his classmates. Cool and useful outfits were spotted like Bakugo's gauntlets, Momo's open design, and Sero's helmet. Others outfits looked impractical as if they only existed for fashion.

He saw Pres, who was having a verbal debate with Suijin's less-than-satisfactory classmate, Mineta, and then he saw Shoji.

With his arms completely uncovered and the Tank Top-like shirt Suijin could see the style he was going for.

The army-like pants and masks on his face make Shoji look like a soldier.

Giving a thumbs up Suijin continued inspecting before being ripped away by All Might's voice.

'So basically we're just defending the 'bomb' or capturing the heroes if were villains, while the heroes have the option of capturing or simply reaching the bombs.'

Suijin summarized the content he heard ignoring the useless comments that occasionally came up.

Although he couldn't make a proper plan as he didn't know who his partner was he analyzed the objective of this.

The hero has the advantage of only needing to reach an object, people like Hakugakure, have an advantage while the villains need to play keep away, no doubt a specialty for people like Ida. Or combat which the 4 Kings may find to their preferred method.

'Though Pres may need prep time and Midoriya seems to be a loose cannon. Either way, how I play this depends on who's in my group.'

With that, he turned his attention back to the group just to hear All Might explain that teams will be drawn via lottery.

'Another activity which imposed unfairness in certain situations. Is this to show us the unpredictability of the Hero's work?'

The groupings were: Bakugo-Uraraka, Midoriya-Ida, Shoji-Kirishima, Mineta-Jirou, Suijin-Hagakure, Todoroki-Tsu, Mina-Yuga, Sero-Ojirou, Kamanari-Momo, and Sato-Tokoyami.

'Hagakure, Great! If we get Hero I've got this in the bag. With me creating a commotion we can draw their attention making them forget her so she can sneak on and give us the win!'

As Suijin was thinking, life played a cruel trick on him as things would never go that easily.

'No!'

The Pairings were:

A' Villain: Bakugo-Uraraka vs Hero: Midoriya-Ida

B' Villain: Shoji-Kirishima vs Hero: Mineta-Jirou

C' Villain: Suijin-Hagakure vs Hero: Todoroki-Tsu

D' Villain: Mina-Yuga vs Hero: Sero-Ojirou

E' Villain: Kamanari-Momo vs Hero: Sato-Tokoyami

Not only did he not get the role he wanted but he was placed in a match with one of Class 1A's strongest Todoroki, and if that wasn't enough there was Tsu who already knew his quirk and a few of his capabilities.

Almost all of the students had walked into the control room which was dark, the only illuminating source being the many screens showing the inside of the building from many angles.

Apparently, Pair A was facing off right now. Suijin sat down in a coroner's office depressed as he thought of how impossible the task was.

The feeling wasn't anything new but this time he didn't lack information that he could use to 'trick' himself into false optimism.

No, he knew.

Shoto Todoroki, son of the #2 Hero, Endeavor. He could conjure ice large enough to overtake at least half of a 3 Story building, and that's Information Suijin found from a video released of him doing this when he was 12!

Coupled with the feats he's displayed in the short time Suijin personally saw him, he knew he was probably royally scr*wed.

As he wallowed he heard footsteps come up to him. He looked up only to see nothing before feeling hands on his shoulder.

"D-do you need s-something?"

"Hagakure, Sorry!"

Suijin lowered his head realizing that while he looked to be looking around he was probably staring into her bosom if her hand's height were anything to judge by.

Looking to the side he noticed the gloves backed off and that she'd sat to the left of him.

"Is your head at the same level as mine?"

"H-hold on…yeah."

He heard her shuffle and noticed that her posture, again using her arms and shoes as a judge, was better than before.

Suijin turned to her, making sure his eye level was right.

"Sorry, you stuck with s-someone as u-useless as me."

Suijin clenched his fist, feeling horrible to make others feel the pain he was all too used to.

"It's not THAT!"

Looking down to become quiet as he ignored the brief stares turned in their direction he continued.

"It's just…*sigh*... Todoroki. Frankly, I don't see how we beat him, we are not Heroes so your main strength can't be used and he outclasses us in nearly every category not to mention the information pertaining to my moves may have been leaked already."

Suijin looked down again feeling a bit depressed before feeling a pat on his head. Suijin looked up imagining a grin on her invisible face.

"I think we'll win." Her voice told that she wasn't looking at him yet her voice was firm, as if she deeply believed such a thing would happen.

"H-how?"

'Great, now I have become a stuttering mess.'

"Look." The gloves pointed to their opponents who were not getting along.

Tsu seemed to be trying to tell Todoroki something but he kept ignoring her and denying any chance she had to talk to him.

Eventually, Tsu sighed and sat down, likely creating her own countermeasures.

'Why…'

"The son of the #2, someone who's likely never lost. Don't you think arrogance would build up? We may be outclassed individually but with that attitude, we can split them up before dealing with them 1 on 1."

The plan was crude, too crude to call it one but Suijin acknowledge it was something, a ray of hope he wanted to latch onto

"I think we can do it, with what you demonstrated in the lunchroom I think that your brain can come up with a great plan to get us out of this."

Nodding his head Suijin looked at where he thought her head was.

"I will!" He sounded confident once again.

"Y-you know, I remember what you did as well as your scores, so I was happy when your name got called as my partner."

She didn't finish the sentence but Suijin could tell the last part. 'Don't sigh like I'm useless.' He felt deeply troubled as that wasn't his intention so he looked intently at her.

"We'll Win."

He had a thumbs up and radiated a bright mod bringing embarrassment to her invisible face.

"I-Idiot, my f-face is u-up here!"

'Wha- but I thought!'

As the banter continued between the two an unpleasant feeling welled up in one of the Class 1A members inexplicably as they heard this scene.

'What's going on with me.'
