14 System flaws and familiar faces

- "The System of Leveling Up Alone is a system not much less dangerous than the Reincarnation System. For the sake of Ashborn's power, I will have to take risks. Taking a lot, a lot of risks…" — Sitting on the top of a tree in one of the parks, I felt how much my stomach twisted with excitement. I really had no need to rush. - "I won't have to go to all those dangerous dungeons that Son Jin-Woo went to. That is, I can simply save the keys to the dungeons and leisurely wait until my powers develop and pump up thanks to daily tasks. Song Jin-Woo always took risks and hurried, as he needed to level up as quickly as possible to protect the world and his loved ones. I'm not in a hurry. On daily quests, I can get pumped up to the point that when I enter my first beginner dungeon, it will feel like I'm taking a walk in the park. The only time I will be in real danger is class advancement, and the moment with the Architect." - After thinking a little, I couldn't help but break into a grin.

[Daily Quest: Get Stronger. Preparatory process.

Status: completed.]

[You have received a reward for completing the task.]

[Choose a reward?] - (Yes/No)

- "Wait, didn't Song Ji Woo win all the awards? Why should I choose just one?" - I said thoughtfully, at the moment when I pressed yes.

[We have prepared the following rewards for you to choose from:

Reward 1: Restoration.

Reward 2: +1 attribute point.

Reward 3: Random chest, 1.

Select your reward and confirm.]

Eh, my hopes were a little dashed, but something like that was to be expected.

- "I think I'll take points, although it's 1. Wait, wasn't there 3 in the manhwa?" - I said angrily, turning over the memories in my head.

fter a couple of minutes I cooled down

Well, there's no point in being angry, I'll choose the chest this time.

Raising my head, I noticed a small box that was lying on the ground next to me. A Status window also appeared in front of me. I skimmed through it to get a quick overview of myself, as well as my general condition.

Creating Shadows

Shadow Manipulation]

I couldn't help but notice that in the status window some skills were greyed out. They were not connected to the shadows, and therefore they were not integrated by the system. And as far as I understand, I will never be able to upgrade them, or rather "Evaluation". But skills related to shadows will develop.

With a grin, I pumped the resulting points into intelligence in the hope that this would further improve my control over the shadows. After which I opened the box. At its bottom were jars, above which a green inscription rose.

[Item: Disinfectant Ointment]

After thinking a little, I mentally called up the inventory, after which many cells appeared in front of me, into one of which I put the ointment.

Then the cells disappeared, but as soon as I thought about the Jars of ointment, they immediately appeared in my hand. Having removed them, I tore off a blade of grass and tried to put it in my inventory, but it didn't work.

"The advantage of items issued by the System is that they can be stored in the Inventory." — Having finished studying the System, I nodded to myself and began to check how much better I had become in controlling shadows.

Having finished training with shadows, I decided to call it a day for today, and therefore took out my smartphone. It was time to go to the shelter, and at the same time we could check our mail.

A couple of orders have arrived for translations related to customs issues. In general, the Japanese economy was now thriving, as was trade with the outside world, so my services often related to issues of customs and trade with other countries.

One guy needs to make a website to sell furniture. This was not a problem. A couple of hours of boring poking around in front of a laptop could bring, albeit not a huge, but quite decent amount.

And in the end, the publishing house wanted a new book about Harry Potter... Of course, I communicated with them exclusively through the Internet, but both them and me were completely satisfied with this.

- "Hmm... Well, it seems it's time to introduce readers to Sirius Black. Hehe... I think by the time I kill Dumbledore, writing will finally make me feel rich. Should I complain though? Despite the piracy, I still make quite a bit of money from both this series and A Song of Ice and Fire. Eh... But there is still so much unrealized literature that this world should get acquainted with for the sake of cultural development..." - I mentally nodded to myself.

Time passed and a month after the system awakened, several events happened that changed my routine: I went to a new school and met an extraordinary girl, and also enrolled in a gym.

However, it's better to talk about everything in order...

When I came to class and saw a dark-haired girl in the class, I immediately realized that in front of me was none other than Momo Yaoyorozu.

In the future - a brilliant student of U.A., an extremely promising heroine, an excellent student, an incredibly beautiful girl and the owner of probably the most imbalanced quirk of all that I remember - she can create any inorganic objects on the surface of any parts of her body if she knows its structure and structure.

I would probably have already conquered the world if my consciousness had entered her body.

Well, really, who else could it be? And... I was absolutely wrong. Since on the first day all students in Japan introduce themselves in detail, after a couple of minutes I heard that yes - this girl really wants to become a heroine and is going to enter Yuei Academy, but her name is different: Yui.

Yui Kodai.

To someone's question about her quirk, the strange stranger replied that she "can make things smaller or larger." Then, with my jaw hanging, I remembered everything - and reproached myself for my stupidity and forgetfulness. Yes, in the anime it really happened that some of the characters from 1st "B" class seemed to copy the appearance and, partly, the quirks of the main plot characters from 1st "A". Previously, I would have said that the mangaka was simply reducing his workload.

However, now, living in this world... I think it's just a coincidence. It's unlikely that one person can create an entire universe... right?

Be that as it may, in this situation, it was precisely I who was so stupid: already in this world, I read about Yaoyorozu on the Internet and knew that she was studying at home, individually with the best tutors.

Not only was Momo herself from a very wealthy family, which is why, I believe, she was examined in the best clinic with the most accurate diagnosticians, but, having such an incredible quirk, from the age of four she came on the radar of the Japanese government and the state control service for quirks - as one of those who in the future will be recommended to study at U.A., as the best of the hero schools.

How does this all work? When talented - and dangerous - children are shoved into school, this is done not only for the ability to adequately and safely use their quirk, bringing benefit to society, but also for full psychological and ideological treatment. Hence the cult of heroes in society, they say, why do you need anything more if you already have everything?

But the same Momo, if the state does not value her sufficiently, and she herself is not sufficiently attached to it by family, honor, ethical principles and material wealth, may well take - and, for example, synthesize antimatter.

Otherwise it will destroy the entire planet. In my old world, such a child would most likely have been shot on the spot. Out of harm's way. But here, nevertheless, there is a more tolerant and civilized society, therefore, the girls took up the preparation with all their hearts, probably intending to position it in the future as one of Japan's strategic weapons in the political arena.

Hmmm. In general, it is strange, of course, that with such a controversial functioning of state control over truly dangerous superpowers, Tomura Shigaraki, one of the main villains of the anime, was completely overlooked by them.

His quirk is potentially no less terrifying than Momo's Creation, however, unlike the latter, it does not require any academic knowledge or years of training. Just... destruction.

No less than the main villain of All-for-One tried to ensure that no one saved the guy from himself when there was an opportunity. I sighed. Tomura is probably already a villain and even a murderer of his own family.

But how would I help him?.. Meanwhile, having obeyed the request of the other children and having waited for the approving nod of the class teacher, the Yui girl demonstrated her quirk: she borrowed an ordinary hair comb from her classmate and, touching it with her palm, with a roar she increased it to the size of a chair.

The children are delighted, the girl modestly stands at the board and wrinkles the hem of her skirt, and I frown and analyze the combat potential of such a quirk. In general, yes, she did the same thing in the anime. In general, I have long since stopped tearing my hair out trying to understand how such quirks generally work: where, for example, the excess mass comes from, what happens to the molecules of a substance when they change in size, whether the accumulated acceleration is maintained if the object, for example, falls, and does it increase in the process?

Also, do the atoms in the object become proportionately larger while maintaining the shape, or do the atoms themselves increase in size? And what the hell happens to such objects if they collapse when enlarged? No answer.

No attempts, not just mine, but on the basis of the largest research laboratories, to understand the mechanism of operation of most quirks yield results, so it's better just not to think about it: it is and it is, it works and it works. Your nerves will be healthier.

Something else is more important here: in my opinion, in the anime she simply threw nuts and screws, and they grew larger in flight and... that's all? Are you joking? This quirk is also an incredibly powerful force if you use it with your brains, isn't it? Maybe there are some restrictions that I don't know about yet? Hmm... Or maybe I should just show her how irrational using a quirk is and explain how to do it correctly?

I'll make her an S-rank hero. Stop, but why? I decided not to change the canon for as long as possible.

And is it really my business?

No, definitely not... Then I realized that everyone was looking at me and waiting for something. And... you need to introduce yourself, go to the board... -

-"Hello, my name is Demi Shiba, I'll go to UA," - I answered briefly, going to the board and completely ignoring the formulations accepted in society, although remaining within the bounds of decency. And he sat back down. The manager, probably somewhat confused by the fact that I was behaving more like a hooligan, although according to my record I was an excellent student, suggested:

- "Well, Demi-kun maybe you can at least show us your quirk?"

I grinned:

-"This is a shadow. " - There was a chorus of questions in the class. Then I caught the attentive glance of this... Yui. Yes, dear, you and I are now rivals although, in theory, both you and I will enter the Academy anyway. But you don't know that.

And, in any case, the fact that you use your quirk with an efficiency of five percent is not my problem. For the rest of the day I was left untouched and left to my thoughts. And this is what I came to: why not, since I began to encounter the canon, not use the knowledge from it to my advantage - right now?

This, it seems, shouldn't do much harm to the original chronology... Reasoning this way, I again took up the search for a dojo, but now, instead of the training base itself, I was already looking specifically for characters familiar to me from anime. A number of Yuuei students definitely had to train somewhere before enrolling. Many of them knew martial arts already during the entrance exams. Like that guy with drills for hands.

Or that funny dude with a big ponytail from "A" class.

What's his name?

I started remembering all the characters I remembered about the anime. Yes, it is very useful for me to do without my memory.

Was he supposed to be a martial arts fan?

And he had a big tail. He is my age, blond, lives in Japan.
