9 Childhood

After checks, I was moved to another orphanage, apparently for older children, or more specifically, those with quirks.

I was placed in a small, but admittedly clean and well-equipped room, where three other neighbors lived.

But after the situation where I found myself without a quirk, even though I had one, most of the kids began to avoid me, and the groups became silent when I walked past them. Although I don't care about them, what can I get from communicating with capricious and naive children.

All that could interest me was the lesson, since in my past life I could not study or go to school normally due to heart problems

Afteall, I had to admit that the My Hero Academia universe wasn't that bad. They obviously didn't take such bad care of children without parents. At least it was clean, the food was good, and the children were not allowed to fight with each other, and discipline was strictly enforced.

The training, however, was not without brainwashing. A huge layer was occupied by stories about heroes and good deeds. Given this zombification of the heroic theme, it is not surprising that everyone went crazy about the Almighty and other heroes who defend the peace and order of ordinary citizens.

However, other items may have been imbued with a heroic theme, but at least they didn't make me want to leave, I just wanted to sleep on them. Because due to my young age, I was only taught the basics. However, there were exceptions, such as Japanese writing and the basics of computer technology.

The first one, as it turned out, was a blank slate for me. I knew all the languages of the world, that is,

I could speak and understand them, but this did not apply to writing. Therefore, using my absolute memory, I became interested in the ideas of studying different types of writing.

As for computers, we were given access to them for only one hour, explaining the basics, but who would I be if I did not use access to information. Normal and comprehensive information called the Internet?!

At night I turned into a black clot of shadows and, moving from one shadow to another, I went to the computer class, where I plunged headlong into studying this world. As it turned out, there wasn't much work from my past life, and also quite a lot of interesting information about the quirks and state of other countries.

The Quirk usually manifests itself around the age of four, although a child can be born with the Quirk already developed, as was the case with the very first officially documented child with a Quirk that caused their skin to glow with a bright light. This child is a historical figure and has been given a name, "Glowing Child".

After this incident, many other people began to appear with super abilities called quirks. Until now, the appearance of quirks is not known, but I have seen many theories that this is just a new round of genetically enhanced people, and that each subsequent generation will become stronger than the previous one. The current situation in the world is that about 80% of the world's population has a quirk, while the other 20% do not.

And of course, when so many people received superpowers, there could not but be those among them who decided to use their powers for their own benefit. I don't see anything wrong with this desire, but the point is how they decided to use their powers... the era of quirks began, and after it began the era of discord associated with various bandits, murderers, rapists and other dirt of society. All of them would most likely sit quietly if they did not possess these powers.

At that time, various villainous groups appeared fighting against the law and against each other. As chaos and disorder began due to the outbreak of quirks, ordinary civilians with their quirks decided to take matters into their own hands in order to restore order in society and follow their ideals.

Thus, the first version of the heroes "Vigilantes" appeared, they were those who fought with the villains despite the money and fame.

Over time, society adapted to what was happening and the police began to prioritize maintaining the status quo and therefore decided not to use quirks as weapons. To fill this void, a profession of crime-fighting quirk users, professional heroes, began to exist. Because of this, vigilantes disappeared over time and if they still exist, they are few and they try to act secretly. Although, of course, the decision to use quirks for battle was not immediately accepted by society, because it can easily kill, but over time everyone saw that this was the right decision.

The Pro-Hero system was first introduced in the United States. With these new laws, approximately 200 vigilantes were officially affected and only 16 of them became professional heroes.

The Professional Heroes movement received public support due to the fact that the first people who worked professionally as heroes acted morally and supported the law. Most countries have banned the use of quirks on the street and in places full of people. Of course, there were those who were dissatisfied that using a quirk on the street became prohibited and only Heroes could do it.

Well, in some cases for the purposes of self-defense. The main opponents of this movement in the past called themselves the Army for the Equal Use of Superpowers. They tried to stop the passing of the Quirk Control Act and caused problems for the governments of many countries for several years. The group of these militias was defeated and disintegrated, and the head of this movement was imprisoned.

From various data sources, I was able to gather information about the Quirks themselves. Quirk is the next stage of evolution in the human race. The presence of a quirk is diagnosed by the presence or absence of a joint in the little finger. People with one joint in the little finger will develop some kind of quirk, but if there are two joints it shows that the person does not have a quirk as such.

Quirks can mutate and merge into one, becoming a new species. Since quirks are physical mutations, they can be inherited. A person may have a quirk associated with fire, but he will grow a horn that does not in any way affect the quirk itself, this is just an example.

So, as I said, quirks are physical abilities, which means they can be improved through training. When a person trains his muscles, muscle fibers are destroyed and new, stronger ones grow again. This also applies to quirks.

However, overuse of Quirks will always affect a person in some way, depending on the nature of the Quirk. These deficiencies are usually simple ailments such as dry skin or nausea.

There is also a concept called the Quirk Factor. This is a set of actions or just an action that is necessary for the quirk to be activated. This includes the primary power of a quirk, as well as all the biological mechanisms that allow that power to function properly. The quirk factor also has a conscious activation, that is, without the desire of a person, it is not activated. Of course, at an early age, without proper control, anything can happen. For example, you can imagine a sleep quirk that will work provided that a person touches another person with his hand. That is, he cannot put him to sleep at a distance and his quirk will be inactive until touched.

It rarely happens that a child does not receive a quirk related to their parents' genetic line and a mutation occurs, resulting in the child's quirk being completely different from the parent's.

The quirks themselves have a classification:

The first class of Quirks is Radiation, a type of Quirk that involves the ability to either release certain substances or energy. Quirks of this type require conscious activation. Such quirks have a different range. Some require physical contact, others may have different ranges of impact. Some users of this class of Quirks can cause harm to their bodies when overused. This class is the most common, but this does not mean that it is the worst. Quirk powers just vary greatly from user to user.

The next class of quirks is Impact. A type of quirk that allows you to influence someone or something. Unlike radiation quirks, these quirks only manifest upon contact with an object. Most wielders of these quirks affect the user's surroundings and do not affect the user themselves.

The least common type of quirk is Transformation. A type of quirk that changes the user's body for a certain period of time. These quirks can change either part of the body or the entire body in a variety of ways, sometimes enhancing it such as abruptly petrifying the skin, or creating new abilities in which objects appear from the body. Such quirks typically require conscious activation, but most users can train the quirk to reduce the activation time. But the main weakness of the owners of such a quirk is the time limitation.

Another class of quirks is Mutation. Quite an interesting type of quirk, as the quirk is part of the user's body. That is, it does not require any activation and works constantly. On the street you can see people with strange limbs or appearance, which are a mutation. I saw a couple of people with a tail, this is a user quirk. That is, their entire superpower is simply the presence of a tail... while people can literally fly and shoot lasers from their eyes. Well, not everyone is lucky, after all, a mutation is most often just a random variation of genetic selection.

To keep an eye on people and their abilities, at the age of four, every child is required to be examined by a doctor and have their quirk recorded in the general registry. So that the authorities could already then determine the potential of abilities and give them some kind of assessment.
