46 Chapter 46 - Nighteye

...

<Japan Shizuoka 10:03> <PoV - Lena>

"According to the directions it should be ... here."

Lifting my head up I glared at a sleek white building 5 stories tall. The building was right on the corner of a freeway intersection which was a bit odd for the location of a building... even more so for a Hero Agency, but who was she to judge.

A few minutes ago Aizawa took us to a train station to make sure we didn't run away from our internships, weird, but I guess UA doesn't want to have bad images with the various Hero Agencies.

After all, he had given us a stern warning to treat all people with respect while we are doing our internships, classic Aizawa.

He also gave us the typical motivational talk about how we will be great heroes if we try hard and blah blah blah.

Although it sounded more like....

"If you don't strive to be Heroes... you're dead."

Something like that, I wasn't paying much attention honestly, but it's Aizawa! That grumpy dog can barely praise someone grudgingly, I'm 100% sure his talk was awful.

Anyway, it was a great coincidence that the Nighteye Agency was in the same city where I live. I don't know how I hadn't noticed it before.

(A/N: Before anyone puts on their glasses, let me tell you that I didn't find where the fuck the Nighteye Agency is I just took Shizuoka for convenience and because the buildings look a bit like Shizuoka or Musutafu style)

"HEY!"

I instinctively threw a roundhouse kick towards my back out of fright.

I was surprised when my kick only went through the person without giving him a scratch. Regaining my balance, I looked closely at the smiling boy.

For a moment I thought it was All Might.... but smaller, although small is exaggerating a bit since he was taller than me. His hair pointed upwards and was of a pure golden color, he had small electric blue eyes that looked at me with amusement, he was also quite muscular perhaps on par with me.

It was after looking at him that I realized he was wearing an UA uniform.

Grinning from ear to ear the Mini-Might spoke cheerfully. "I guess that's not the way to greet someone, you know?"

"No, but I'm not going to apologize" I replied as I folded my arms with a pout. "Clearly it was your fault for scaring me."

"My bad, my bad" He said as he scratched his head and laughed good naturedly, seeing him like that I couldn't get mad and started smiling too. "But I'm sure that reaction was quick, I can tell just by looking at you that you get a lot of exercise...I'm sure Sir will like you."

I blinked twice. "Sir?"

"Yes, Sir Nighteye, you're the new intern, right?" Mini-Might asked with his head bowed still smiling.

My mind went blank for a moment as my eyebrows shot upwards before I replied "I guess, but aren't you new here too?"

"No, I'm a third year, I've been interning with Sir during early second year" The boy replied as he walked towards the building, I quickly followed him through the doors.

I expected to find someone at the reception but it was unusually empty and lonely, still you could tell how much care they had put into the interior as everything looked extremely clean and spotless.

"Hey, that's weird..." Mini-Might muttered as she looked around the front desk curiously. "Normally Bubble is here..."

After that we went up to the third floor, despite being a moderately large building, it was strangely empty. It gave an air reminiscent of a hospital but more lonely as there was no noise at all.

After climbing up to the third floor I couldn't stand the eerie silence of the strange place and decided to break the uncomfortable silence. "By the way... what's your name?"

"Togata, Togata Mirio, I'm a Third Year student at UA, you've possibly heard of me" He replied with a smile as they stopped in front of a door, I didn't need to be a genius to know that Nighteye was on the other side.

'That name...ah' Suddenly a distant memory came back into my head. 'The winner of the Third Year Festival....'

Mirio opened the door and swallowing my nerves I stepped inside to face All Might's former partner. I took a deep breath and walked through the door...and the first thing I saw upon entering the room was a large roulette wheel with a scantily clad, blue skinned woman hanging from it spinning around as she screamed and cried loudly.

"Wahhh!!!"

"Hahaha! That never changes!" Mirio exclaimed as she laughed out loud at the poor girl's plight.

I could feel my brain shut down for a moment at the situation in front of me.

'Where the fuck have you gotten to now Lena....on a BDSM base?...' I began to understand why All Might stopped working with Nighteye.

While I nodded as if enlightened by God, Mirio helped the girl down from the roulette carefully. Looking at her better, I could see that she was actually quite cute, she had dark blue hair with a fringe that almost hid one of her eyes, her skin was light blue and she was about the same height as Kyoka.

"Thank you Mirio..." Replied the girl with swirls in her watery eyes.

"No problem, but you have to find something to make Sir laugh if you want to avoid this again" Mirio said as she put her hands on her face to form a smile. "You have to get a smile out of him!"

"Because I'm surrounded by humor freaks..." Mumbled the blue girl as she went over what she had done wrong with her life. "Where I went wrong..."

I approached the dynamic duo cautiously as I asked. "This... I don't want to interrupt... whatever you guys are doing, but where is Nighteye?"

"Right here," replied a voice from the corner of the room.

Turning my head towards the voice, I could see a strangely intimidating man dressed in a smart grey suit, shiny dark green hair with some yellow locks, strict red eyes hidden behind his glasses, Lena couldn't quite make him out as he was sitting down, but he looked quite tall compared to a normal person....

'God, and they say asalarymen aren't scary...'

I unconsciously straightened up as I felt his gaze on me, I quickly approached Nighteye completely ignoring the amount of All Might posters around him.

"Welcome to my Agency, my name is Nighteye, those over there are my assistants" Nighteye explained as he pointed to Mirio and Blue Girl. "The blond is Togata Mirio and the blue girl is Awata Kaoruko, during your internship you will have to call them by their names Hero, Lemillion and Bubble Girl."

"Nice to meet you my name is Oxton Lena, my Hero's name is Tracer, it's an honor to work-"

"I haven't decided yet if you will work for me" Nighteye interrupted me as he continued to work on his computer without paying attention to me which annoyed me a bit noticing it in my frown.

"What do you mean?"

"Tell me, why did you choose my agency?" Nighteye asks dodging the question asked by Lena.

"From what I understand your Agency unlike the others focuses on kidnapping cases, drug trafficking, hostage situations, etc. Case involving various people and civilians, I want to be a Heroine that can help as many civilians as possible, that's why I saw this Agency as a good opportunity" I answered seriously as the raw memory of my past self having a panic attack in the capsule invaded my mind for a moment. "I want to help people, not just save them, I want to make sure they feel like they have someone to trust and feel safe in."

"I see... What was your first impression when you walked into this room?"

"That you are a fetishist" I replied without hesitation.

Nighteye stopped typing on his computer he looked at me with dead eyes which made a lump form in my throat.

"PFFF!!!"

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Suddenly Mirio and Bubble Girl's loud laughter erupted behind me.

"And why do you have that impression of me?" Nighteye asked without paying attention to his assistants.

"Because Bubble Girl was hanging on a roulette wheel, it reminded me a bit of BDSM, plus you have all those All Might magazines and collections, so you must be a perverted stalker obsessed with All Might!"

I nodded to myself several times completely sure of his accusation, Nighteye's silence only confirmed my suspicions.

"DID YOU HEAR THAT SIR?! HAHAHAHA" Mirio couldn't contain herself and laughed out loud as she rolled on the floor.

Mirio never thought they would insult Sir to his face in such a blatant manner!

Nighteye was only silent for a few moments before turning back to his computer. "You passed the test."

Lena cocked her head to one side with a confused look on her face. "Huh? What test?"

"You start patrolling alongside Lemillion he is he will explain everything you need, if there is any subject you don't understand you can talk to me" Nighteye explained ignoring my question as he stood up from his seat, sep, he was stupidly tall. "But first of all..."

"How do you know what BDSM is?"

I froze at the sudden question as my face began to heat up. "I-I... w-well you see..."

As I was trying to come up with a poor excuse, I didn't notice that Nighteye's hand had touched my shoulder....

***

<#!"-ª$%(¿1 @*!-#%& 872:234> <PoV Nighteye>

Nighteye, the All-Seeing Hero.

He never liked that nickname.

Sure, he could see the future, but sometimes it's better not to know what tomorrow holds.

Nighteye learned the hard way how heartbreaking the future can be.

He still vividly remembers how he saw All Might's death a few years ago, it was such a terrifying moment, so horrible that it makes him lose his mind.

And although he knew that sooner or later he would die, he could not accept it, even more so when it was he who sealed the fate of Japan's No. 1 Hero.

It was his obsession with All Might that led him to look into his future, it was his false hope that made him seal the fate of the greatest Hero that all Japan has ever had...

In his guilt and fear, Nighteye looked for a thousand ways to change the fate, to change the future.

But he quickly realized the harsh reality, a reality in which even to this day, he lived completely resigned.

Since then he has been careful about when and with whom to use his Quirk. When he sees someone's Future, it is as if Nighteye is in the same scenario of the future, the longer he sees someone's future the more confused and less detailed the vision becomes.

That little detail was the only thing keeping him sane today.

The hope that what he saw was a simple mistake from abusing his Quirk....

Now in the present, Nighteye looks at his new intern with a blank stare.

He wasn't going to see much of his future, just about 10 minutes to figure out what her future she do.

Only this time his vision was nothing like his previous visions....

The sky became crystal, each crystal showing a different image, there were too many for Nighteye to tell them apart. Looking around he saw several mounds of earth drifting by, some had houses on them, some had burning buildings, and one appeared to be a reverse waterfall.

Nighteye's mind went into a panic.

This is going to happen in 10 minutes?!

I blinked and now I was in the middle of the ocean, I thought I would fall in and drown but I stayed there, floating.

The locations were constantly changing with each blink, so fast that I could even only faintly make them out.

A city.

A forest.

A cave.

A mountain.

A desert.

A highway.

All in the blink of an eye.

I finally managed to concentrate enough to blurt out a few feeble words. "Where... am I?"

What I didn't expect was a voice to respond. "I think the question here is: why are you here?, I really don't mind you being here but this is the first time I've seen someone here who isn't one of my other selves."

I turned around looking for the source of the voice and blinked as I saw the familiar figure.

"Oxton?..."

The figure looked a lot like his new intern. But... it wasn't right, her brown hair was now a deep dark blue, her face was hidden by a black gas mask, her jacket looked worn out from damage from different cuts....

This was no Oxton... instead of the confident and cheerful air of his intern, this one was serious and ancient, as if he was looking at a presence that easily tripled his age.

The Blue Oxton approached walking slowly towards Nighteye before stopping less than a few feet away from him.

He looked at him as if he were an anomaly before speaking seriously. "Technically you're not wrong, but you're also wrong a lot... whatever, don't do this again or there will be serious consequences for you."

With a snap of her fingers, Nighteye felt a tug on his chest and before he knew it... he was back to normal.

...

"Um... maybe I should monitor this timeline, it's the first version of me to go with Nighteye..." Kairos muttered past herself before snapping her fingers, with a thunderous sound reality ripped in front of her showing Nighteye quickly pulling out Lena's hand. "Oh! It's that Lena! Now this could be interesting... though maybe I should block the interference between Time Quiks... meh, what a lazy thing to do"
