MHA:Concept Gear

A soldier, conscripted for world war 4, dies tragically on the battle field…not After hearing a coworker drop a large stack of papers Erin Atkinson dies of an unfortunate series of events. Just like that 4 years of army logistics work gone. Well at least she got her MagikaVR account to max level, could have died before that and died unfulfilled. With a new start and a quirk that has theoretically limitless possibilities how will she fair in a world where any random teenager could have a city leveling power hiding inside them. =================================== New fan-fic following my dissatisfaction with my previous novel. I’m hoping to increase my writing skills through this fic. A slightly upscaled and more ‘realistic’ version of MHA. Expect hero’s to have kill counts, even All Might, and for the general power level to be higher. I guess this will be technically an AU as I have not seen the more recent seasons of MHA nor read the manga. So past the sports festival arc expect the canon to diverge slightly more then normal fics. Their will be no babying of class 1-A, Erin is a soldier at the end of the day and she’s here to take names. There will be a minor psychological element, not as heavy as my previous novel but still there as I believe that reincarnation and death will always take their toll on someone. I don’t own MHA or anything else except my OC. Cover art isn’t mine either the artist can contact me if they want it taken down.

==================================

"Ayah darling! Are you ready yet?"

Hearing the shout from outside my door I quickly finished getting dressed.

"Yeah mom just give me a minute!"

Rushing out my door and out to the living room I saw my mom and dad standing there looking incredibly sad and nervous.

"Are you sure you want to do this Ayah? You could always refuse…"

"Mom, for the last time, yes I'm sure that I want to go visit Nana and grandpa."

*sigh*

"Fine, let's go get in the car then. You packed everything you can't make right?"

"Yep!"

"Well then let's go."

The drive to the airport was full of attempts at getting me to change my mind, or to bring them with me. However, ever since I'd received the invitation I'd already know I wanted to go alone. Besides while they may not like it I was ten years old now.

Not only that but I held a masters degree in material science and was a 5th dan kendoka, although due to the way I fought all my teachers called me a kenshi. The 5th dan ruling was bogus considering that I was an 8th dan in my past life and I was actually weaker back then. But I could understand there reservations about granting a higher rank considering my age, so I accepted their deal that I would progress one dan a year till I reached mastery.

The masters degree was still a secret, Nezu was my exam proctor and he cleared me with nearly full marks. I wanted to get another degree but he said the same thing as my kendo instructors, that I would only be allowed to do one a year.

Toru was going to be taking her first masters test in three months. I'd gotten Nezu to agree to testing her as well, although her chosen topic was Optics as it relates well to her quirk.

"Ayah, we're here."

Breaking me from my thoughts my mom lightly shook me. Looking out the car door I saw the same airport as last time.

After parking we went into the airport where a member of the staff was waiting for us. They took us past security and baggage check and out to a golf cart on the tarmac. We then drove over to a hanger in which a private jet was waiting. And standing right next to it was my grandparents.

The exchange process was extremely tense between my parents and my grandparents. Like seriously I'd witnessed a hostage exchange of royalty in MagicVR and it was only slightly worse due to the power density of mana at the time.

After saying goodbye to my parents, while they once more tried to convince me to stay, I got onto the plane with nana and grandpa and the pilot began take off procedures.

Grandpa was the first to speak, excited I'm sure from all the text correspondence we'd been having.

"So you really reached 5th dan in only 5 years?"

I nodded in response to his question.

"That's incredible, it took me 7 years to reach 5th dan and I was considered one of the most talented members of my generation. Not to mention my prior experience with HEMA and Fencing."

And at that tidbit of information that I didn't know about I perked up.

"Wait you know HEMA and Fencing?"

"Well yes, I-"

"Will you teach me!"

And at that he paused and turned to Nana who had looked horrified throughout the entire conversation. She quickly controlled her expression before giving grandpa a death glare.

"W-well, Ayah dear I'm afraid not I'm old you know and sword fighting of any style is a young mans game."

And at that Nana cut in.

"Yes precisely, a young man's game indeed, say Ayah darling do you have any feminine hobbies? Painting perhaps? Or maybe horticulture?"

Ah, so it was going to be like that. I had realized when they came to visit that Nana was rather old fashioned and proper but assumed that my granddaughter status would protect me. It would appear that it was likely my age protecting me at the time. As well as mom taking most of the flak.

"Yes, I paint and draw rather well."

And that was true, combat, especially weapons combat, required extremely good dexterity with your hands. Painting and drawing was something I'd picked up to help train my dexterity, and I had enjoyed it so I continued the practice even after I'd stopped gaining noticeable improvement to my dexterity.

Anyway, at the affirmation of me having a feminine hobby Nana relaxed quite a bit. But now I had to do a real test, to see just how old fashioned Nana was.

I was going to talk about my masters and the reason this was a test was due to the history differences between this world and my last one. As far as I could tell up to the advent of quirks academics was gaining equality but still balanced towards men. Meanwhile after the advent of quirks, during the days when violence and crime ran rampant academics balanced toward women due to men being more likely to receive power type quirks. Meanwhile, while plenty of women where emitters and equally powerful, they didn't fight due to very few emitters being able to actually use their quirk thanks to limited understanding.

This led to power types being the focus for combat as they were simple to use and understand. This would let me know just how old fashioned Nana was.

"Well I'm also a bit of an academic, that's a feminine hobby right?"

Nana became even more relaxed at that.

"Yes well that's good. After all mens hobbies aren't suited towards us women without power type quirks."

This whole conversation was unexpected, since quirks became well studied and peace was relatively restored society had made greater strides towards equality then ever before. Mindsets like this were nearly eradicated. After all when a women in America can literally demand the worlds energy to do stuff it's kinda of hard to maintain the 'women are lesser' narrative.

Luckily grandpa doesn't seem to care and even seemed like he would agree to teach me. So, all I have to do is ask in secret. Looking over at grandpa to confirm my suspicions- he was asleep. Okay, so maybe not getting grandpa to teach me. Being taught by a narcoleptic wasn't a great plan when discussing blade combat. But I'm sure he knows people who could teach me.

Looking over at Nana to ask about the situation in England- she was also asleep. Okay, so note to self, old people fall asleep easy.

So with the only two people I could talk to being asleep, I pulled out my laptop that Nana gave me all those years ago. Connecting to the in plane Wi-Fi, glad they had that, I continued my studies on physics and energy. That was my goal for my next masters, after all my energy has to come from somewhere.

And so I settled in for a long flight/study session. England here I come.

==================================

Just so you know the next chapter, next weekend, will not be Time skip (2/2) but instead her visit to England. Time skip (2/2) will be the final chapter before the entrance exam arc. Just in case you wanted to save till then.
