MHA:Concept Gear

A soldier, conscripted for world war 4, dies tragically on the battle field…not After hearing a coworker drop a large stack of papers Erin Atkinson dies of an unfortunate series of events. Just like that 4 years of army logistics work gone. Well at least she got her MagikaVR account to max level, could have died before that and died unfulfilled. With a new start and a quirk that has theoretically limitless possibilities how will she fair in a world where any random teenager could have a city leveling power hiding inside them. =================================== New fan-fic following my dissatisfaction with my previous novel. I’m hoping to increase my writing skills through this fic. A slightly upscaled and more ‘realistic’ version of MHA. Expect hero’s to have kill counts, even All Might, and for the general power level to be higher. I guess this will be technically an AU as I have not seen the more recent seasons of MHA nor read the manga. So past the sports festival arc expect the canon to diverge slightly more then normal fics. Their will be no babying of class 1-A, Erin is a soldier at the end of the day and she’s here to take names. There will be a minor psychological element, not as heavy as my previous novel but still there as I believe that reincarnation and death will always take their toll on someone. I don’t own MHA or anything else except my OC. Cover art isn’t mine either the artist can contact me if they want it taken down.

Chapter 1: We do a lil dying

[] Speaking English

{} Speaking German

Everything else is Japanese unless otherwise specified. (I won't be doing honorifics)

==================================

In the middle of a field of corpses and ash a single young woman wearing dark gray armor sat on a charred tree trunk sharpening a dark black sword. Looking closer one could see her armor covered in scratch's and blood with several minor wounds showing in between the damaged chinks in the breastplate.

Zooming out slowly from the field a single man stands on a hill talking to seemingly nothing.

["And there we have it chat! The final battle between the Dawns Guard Guild and The Weapons Mistress Nire Nikta has concluded in miss Nikta's victory. With her victory I've been led to believe by my contacts in the Dawns Guard that she reached the level cap of 999."]

["Next we are going to go try and interview several members of the Dawns Guard about the battle-"]

["Erin! What are you doing?!"]

Moving faster then a boy caught watching some unsavory things the tab playing the video was minimized and a new tab with several spread sheets was pulled up.

["I…uh I'm working on next weeks fuel transports."]

Sitting at a relatively old fashioned desk with a computer that was several decades old a young woman with average complexion sat. Behind her a strict looking older man wearing a uniform from the 2010's was standing, tapping his foot with an annoyed look on his face.

["Is that so… well then how are the aluminum fuel rods being transported?"]

["Uh.."] scrolling through the spread sheet using an old implement called a 'mouse' Erin started looking for any sign of what the fuel rods where being transported with. And finally she found it, they were being transported by low orbit skytrains. ["…Sky trains sir!"]

["Yes..well I'm so glad that you obviously knew that off the top of your head."] With a voice full of sarcasm the man paced over to the desk and skillfully switched tabs back to the video. ["I have to be honest Atkinson, I never took you as a Magika fan.."]

["Ahh.. well I like to watch occasionally."]

["Mhm sure.. get back to work Atkinson."]

Stepping back from the desk the man began to walk away while sipping on some coffee that he pulled from god knows where. As he turned around to leave and Erin turned back to her desk a worker walked past with a large stack of files and paper in their arms.

Suddenly the worker tripped on seemingly nothing but air, dropping the stack to the floor in a mighty thud. The older man jumped in reflex flinging coffee right onto Erin's computer which immediately short circuited electrifying her. Erin fell to the floor convulsing and the smell of burned flesh spread in the air.

["Atkinson! Atkinson! Stay with me—"]

(POV change)

I woke in a void, albeit a very warm, very comfortable void. I felt as though I couldn't move at all and my arms seemed to be pinned to my sides. Thinking back to how I found myself here I remember the series of unfortunate events that led to my..death?

I died… how disappointing. I still had seven weapons left to learn… and a life to live I guess. But still I spent so much time learning to use those weapons to the best of my ability spent all my free time and most of my salary to learn in real life all for what? To not even get the title I wanted!

Only 27 weapons, I was still missing three to learn well four technically but I never counted the last one. I was the master of weapons and I never even got the official title that would let me use all the weapons interchangeably.

And even worse, if this is the afterlife and all it has to offer then I will just be thinking about this for eternity. God I wish I could move, even without a weapon I could at least train the basic movements. If only I had know I would die today, I could have put more hours in and mastered the last few.

God why—

All of a sudden the void began to tighten and squeeze around me. Was this punishment for using gods name? Well better then sitting here regretting for eternity…

As the walls started to close in, I though about how differently it could have gone if only my body hadn't been so weak. MagikaVR proved that I was a weapons genius but thanks to a disease keeping my body weak in the real world I got stuck in logistics… I could have been one of the best soldiers the world had ever seen.

All of a sudden with a very heavy squeeze a bright light flashed before my eyes blinding me as I tried to transition from the previous darkness. Several voices sounded out from around me, in what language I couldn't tell but it definitely wasn't English.

My imagination began to run wild. Was I reincarnated? When, where, why? As my eyes began to adjust I saw a nice looking hospital room with several giants milling around a bed in the middle. Or I suppose they aren't giant, I'm just really small now?

I was being held in a blanket by a woman dressed in a nurse uniform while several others crowded around the bed. After being wiped down I was carried over too the bed and handed off to a woman who looked like a middle aged Lara Croft.

Looking down at me she smiled softly and said several words in a what I now realize seems to be Japanese. A nurse on the side spoke up, and I saw my mother smile even deeper before whispering out two words.

{"Ayah Krieger"}

(POV change)

*Knocking*

"Come in."

Looking up from the paperwork spattered around my desk I watched as my secretary entered my office with a nervous look on his face.

"What is it Takeo?"

"Well sir… your wife is on the line and fair bit of warning she sounds mighty displeased."

"Well… thank you Takeo."

"Good luck sir."

Looking down at the phone on my desk I began to psyche myself up for what was to come. I couldn't for the life of me remember why she would be mad, it definitely wasn't some kind of anniversary I had set alarms for all the ones I could think of. Well I'm sure I'm about to find out why…

"H-hi darling, what can I do for you this fine evening?"

Moving the phone slightly away from my ear in preparation for what I knew what was coming I-

"DON'T YOU DARE 'HI DARLING' ME! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE MISSING THE BIRTH OF YOUR OWN CHILD! NOT EVEN THAT YOU DIDN'T EVEN RESPOND TO ME WHEN I TEXTED YOU THE NOTICE! IF IT WASN'T FOR KAEDE BEING AROUND AND DRIVING ME I MIGHT HAVE HAD TO DRIVE MYSELF!"

"W-what…"

My child… but they were due three weeks from now. Pulling my phone out from the desk drawer I saw multiple missed calls and texts from both my wife and the housekeeper Kaede. Shooting to my feet I began to pace back and forth behind my desk.

"I-I… I thought we had three weeks.."

"Yes well the eager little lady came a bit early"

"It's a girl.."

"Yes, I named her just like we agreed, little baby Ayah."

"I'm so sorry darling.. I had my phone away, I thought we had more time."

"Yes, well it's not like it's the worst thing in the world. Although later when you see her you'll wish you where here and that will be punishment enough for you."

At that reminder I started to pack things away so I could head to the hospital.

"Was she healthy? I remember that sometimes the early ones have problems?"

"She's perfectly healthy, hopefully within three months we can be off again."

"I sure hope so.. I'll see you in a few minutes I'm leaving the office now."

"Okay well it's not like we're going anywhere… the doctors recommended we stay for 72 hours so they can do the full check for any quirk based mutations little Ayah may have."

"Alright well I'll see you there then."

First chapter and my first try at Japanese names. I feel it went well even if I wasn’t happy with the post-death, pre-reincarnation thoughts that Erin had. I have no idea what birth is like with mutation quirks but I would assume that they run checks and tests before just letting you leave with a baby that might have gills instead of lungs or something.

If you spot a mistake or have some constructive criticism let me know in the comments and I’ll probably fix it.

Thanks for reading.
