6 Resolves&Edges

For the next couple of days Thaumiel was gradually able to relax his tense nerves.

Unlike before makima no longer seemed so scary and terrorizing in the day to day life, sure the two still didn't interact in a close and familiar way most families would.

However the distant interactions no longer seemed so cold.

They even had a family night which allowed Thaumiel to know his auntie was quite a movie enthusiast.

The first thing 'he' learned about her on his own instead from his inherited memories.

Although for some strange and mysterious reason the survival talent would still keep improving ever so often…

Spending less time worrying about acting and being careful of every interaction Thaumiel initially found himself considering a certain issue he had originally chosen to ignore.

His current self, with the Saintclair surname… where had the original gone?

The possession happened instantly and when he came to it he was already in the kid's place in preschool surrounded by other kids.

Did he kill the original?

The thought didn't feel good but to be fair Thaumiel couldn't really say he was too deeply stimulated by it.

Although somewhat cold bloodied to say, the possession happened completely out of his control.

Not only did he not initiate or choose the process but it all happened instantly out of his control.

As someone who rationalizes things a lot the overall answer he came with was that the matter couldn't really be blamed on him. What else could he do? kill himself as a way of redeeming himself for possessing the kid's body.

Wouldn't really solve things and neither would the kid come back.

Thus after some pondering he settled for the next best thing.

Having inherited the kids body and memories he would also inherit the latter's dream.

It served his situation perfectly since he hadn't been quite able to come up with a future objective for his new life besides gathering more talents and showing off how awesome of a genius he was.

Thus following the kid's dreams not only could be said to make up for the debt's of receiving the body but also gave him a direction to walk toward.

It was the perfect example of killing two birds with one stone.

As for what the kid's dream was…

Well he didn't even need to look deeply into his memories to know.

In a world of superheroes with quirks what could a kid who got a giant poster of the number one hero plastered beside his bed wish for?

'Being the number one hero…'

To be fair the kid only wished to be a super cool hero but Thaumiel himself thought that since he is gonna do it he got to at least be number one.

Though this brought about a massive, huge, COLOSSAL problem.

'How does one surpass a literal Demi-God walking on earth like All Might? The dude even seemed to have a biult in permanentsmile on his face. Did he come out as a baby smiling like that or something?'

Being honest even if he was a man in his second lifetime and with a literal cheat he wasn't really confident on being able to surpass that guy.

No joke, but seeing a guy literally punch another dude into the orbit like it was no big deal can be quite impacting…

Realistically speaking it's not impossible to become the number one hero even if one is not as strong as All Might. After all, hero rankings are not only rated in power but in popularity, contributions, amount and scale of people they have saved.

Yet this was also not much easier than overcoming All Might's powers.

After all, the latter had already been a hero for almost 30 years and his record was stellar, to say the least.. though there has been a noticeable slow down on his daily hero activities.

Though people mostly attributed it to there simply not being a villain strong enough that needed All Might to personally take care.

Thaumiel himself also agreed more or less with this idea, because he really couldn't picture or find any news about a guy that was powerful enough that needed All Might to take care.

In this country at least.

Besides having 30 years of career in this kind of high intensity job, it's somewhat understandable that all might have begun slowing down.

'Though it's not necessarily a good thing…'

Peace always makes people grow lax, All might could be said to be slowly growing closer and closer to retiring, and being honest there is no one even close to being able to 'fill in' the gap he would leave.

Thus it's almost a certainty that the moment the guy who is basically a 'symbol of peace' drops out things are gonna get a lot messy.

And if he doesn't and somehow ends up killed by a villain because he is too old, then things will really go downhill…

A symbol retiring and being shot down are two completely different things.

'Speaking of which should probably be what this anime is about hu? An almost god-like symbol of peace growing older, a society of heroes and villains in peace… This is basically the usual set for a mc to rise up and fill in the gap left by the number one while also using a super bad guy that pops out to elevate himself to that podium that was left empty, or would that be too predictable?'

'It is shonen though'

In any case with an objective in mind Thaumiel mind was much clearer and so were his plans for the future.

For starters in his normal school days he began to show his edges.

It wasn't too much but he did show a bit of that 'I'm a genius' kind of thing.

Answering a hard question with easy calculation in his mind.

Remembering a large content by memory after reading just a couple times.

Doing a superb draw in art classes that makes even the teacher a bit dumbfounded.

Mastering an instrument at a much quicker pace than others.

It was small things like this that once pulled from the day to day gave a person the so-called reputation of genius, not to mention it made him quite popular among the other brats.

And although he didn't exactly make any buddies, since he really couldn't put himself in the same wavelance as them it at least made him no longer a loner kid.

Of course, Thaumiel was not only wanting to show his edges, but he spent all that time brushing up his talents the best he could and even discovering a couple new ones.

For that he had to thank the Japanese preschool for having an almost endless number of recreational activities, ranging from music, to acting, singing, gardening, and even raising rabbits.

Needless to say with the more talents Thaumiel discovered the more he could feel his progress explosively increase.

On a side note he also took his time to do some comparisons with other people and stipulate how much talent was too much and too little for other people.

The result left him a bit speechless…

Comparing with other kids the result he got was that

15 or less was untalented and very very slow at learning something.

35 to 45 was a bit slower than normal and normal learning speed.

80 were kids who could pick something extremely fast, like pick up an instrument and already come up with some half assed jingle 30 minutes or so later, resulta could vary thought as he only found about two kids that showed that level of talent.

As for above that amount Thaumiel could not really estimate because the kids around him weren't talented enough to measure and he didn't really find any kid with an intelligence related quirk.

How to say… the result was a bit annoying.

'35 to 40 is a normal person's talents and mine are usually around 15 to 20, singing was started with 6… Damn am I in the spectrum or something? These results must be wrong, that's right! I don't have research talent yet so that must be it!'

Was all he could come up with to comfort himself.

Complaints aside.

Feeling he gathered enough talents for now and a bit unsatisfied with the fitness talent progress now that he had his target on becoming the number one hero, Thaumiel made a decision.

"You want to start training in martial arts?"

Asked a plain and stoic voice without too much surprise.

"That's right… since my quirk is a bit late to manifest I want to try some martial arts, maybe it will make it show up!"

Thaumiel explained with a determined gaze fully utilizing his acquired acting talent powered with a whooping 745 TP.

As the stare down lengthened a tad bit Thaumiel still couldn't really pick the slightest emotion from Makima's face even after his Socialization talent had developed to a substantial amount.

'Auntie really got some serious facial paralysis.'

"You don't have double joints in your pinky toes, so it's almost certain you'll have a quirk. There is no need to recur to something like that not to mention such 'stimulus' rarely work."

She responded with a fairly good argument, appearing to not agree too much with him starting to train in some martial arts. Most probably because even after buffing quite a bit he still looked 'fragile'.

Hearing her response Thaumiel having already somewhat expected a rebuttal still couldn't help feeling speechless with the pink finger double joint thing.

'How in the world did scientists correlate human evolution and superpowers with how many joints you got in your pinky toe… I guess you gotta hand it to the 'author' for being so 'creative'.'

"But stil! It could help! Besides, in case I awaken some pretty stupid quirk, wouldn't self defense be very vital? It's not once or twice you see cases of people with some less showy quirks being bullied…"

"No swearing and you won't get bullied."

"How would you kno-"

"You won't."

In Makima's tone of voice a strange intensity could be felt as socializing was hitting for him that Makima spoke very seriously, which made him feel a bit warm and weirded out on the inside.

Considering whenever to continue that line of argument he quickly moved his TP to survival which hitted to not do so quite strongly.

Thus he could only put the TP back in socialization and and acting before trying to use another argument.

"But there is another reason!"

"Which would be?"

"Kids who know how to fight are popular!"

With some quick brainstorming, that was the most kid-like unreasonable argument he could come up with.

Which as expected caused even Makima's frigid face to pause.

With such an unreasonable argument how could a logical and rational adult like Makima possibly counter it?

Thus like that he successfully started to attend Judo classes in a Dojo owned by a retired hero Makima was acquainted with.

Even aquired a debate talent after the discussion.

'All according to the plan.'

With too many talents it was neither realistic nor smart to level everything unless he had an absurd amount of talent points to toss around and instant master every single thing within a couple seconds.

Thus he devised a 'talent work out' plan.

Raise knowledge or miscellaneous related talents during preschool

Raise fitness, martial arts and possible parkour in the Dojo.

Grid programming and other talents he found promising in free time.

A perfect and concise plan that allowed him maximum use of his time.

Chapter came out a bit late today because I discovered this annoying problem with formatting when moving the texts from word to here and had to reformat previous chapters as well.

By the way, I was considering making an auxiliary volume to tell a bit about the way I plan to take the story so people can decided if they want to invest time since some people are actually reading this.

Should I do it or Nah?
