16 Count Down (1)

"Hey, hey, are you listening?"

Turning my head away from the open window, I glanced at the beauty who sat on the desk, which belonged to me. My desk. Mine. The name Anzai Masato was written on it.

Her blonde hair was tied up in two buns, one on each side of her head. Her face seemed vibrant and giddy, similar to a gyaru. Though a bit different from the way she was shown in the plot, she seemed better this way.

She still had that insane edge sometimes.

"Yeah, yeah, that red sucks. I know. They tricked you. Boo-hoo~"

The topic of the conversation was the red napkin Himiko bought from a shop, no, a famous shop called 'Beast's Beauty' or something.

Something about losing a bit of its original color after being washed only once.

"Are you sure that you bought it from 'Beast's Beauty' and not somewhere else?"

Raising an eyebrow, I asked that question in all seriousness.

Not that I like that brand but one of my customers(an old woman from the oldage home) loves that brand, enough to eat my ears about it.

"Do you really want to know?"

She leaned closer, hinting at some great secret with her mischievous eyes.

"Yes."

To please the kid, it was natural to play along.

"Then what exactly happened between you and Kaito?"

Her golden eyes got eerie as she asked that. She had all the right in the world to know as the breaking of our friendship, left her with one less friend.

"He got moved to another class in 2nd grade. We naturally drifted apart."

Yet she wouldn't ever know the truth.

"Hmm~ Then why do I remember you two never talking with each other after the summer break?"

In Japan, summer break only signaled the end of the first of the three terms that the school had.

"Nothing~ It's already been two years. You might remember it wrong."

Yeah, it was already in the second semester of the third-year. It wasn't time to talk about unimportant things.

"Moving on, have you decided your future course?"

"Hey, don't move on without my permission!"

Pouting slightly, she clicked her tongue. Failing yet again at her attempt to uncover the truth.

"I'm following you to U.A."

After a bit of time, she finally spoke again.

"No offense but you're not exactly hero material."

Imagine someone is stuck underneath a fallen building and a hero appears. And the hero starts getting turned on by the blood that is leaking out of the victim.

Although funny, that wasn't the best example of a hero.

"You're the one to speak, you cultist! And just saying 'No offense' doesn't make it any less offensive."

In the past 2 years, we both had grown.

"Oi, I'm a suicidal maniac, not a cultist!"

I finally accepted being called a 'suicidal maniac'. Still working on the 'cultist'.

Himiko also grew. Mostly around her chest.... Her heart.

She wouldn't just go crazy over blood anymore. She still found it to be beautiful but now, she first tried to know the other party before trying to drink their blood.

It was an act that only her close friends deserved. Something like a privilage that she had the right to give. It was probably my question about her quirk's protection against getting AIDS or something from drinking another's blood but it worked.

Currently, she only drank the blood of 5-6 people, including me.

"By the way, did you complete the Yatsushi-sensei's homework?"

"Argh~"

Why was homework even given? Wasn't I passing through the classes normally?

"You will never reach the top 10 if you keep acting like that."

She rebuked my easy-going behavior.

"I think Rank 23 is pretty good too."

"It's way beneath my rank though."

The Rank 1 showed off her marks.

"... How the hell did you even become smarter?"

This was clearly cheating. Why were the talented still working hard? Rest a bit so that the turtles can catch up.

"You have gotten colder, Masato-kun~"

'He doesn't even flinch when I say Rank 1. Even though that always used to his spot.'

For some reason, her heart was constricting as she flowed with her thoughts.

- Snap!

I snapped my fingers to drag her out of her daze.

"What are you thinking, Vampire?"

The change in nickname didn't actually have great reaction but she found it better than 'Kid 2'.

"Nothing~"

"Don't you dare use my spell against me, Potta-Wrong world."

That jittery tone belonged to me and only me. I had it copy-righted. The officals at the government office looked at me like I was crazy but they didn't say anything about it. They probably acquiesced to it.

"Himiko-chan, hurry up! We're going to be late for our mixer!"

A school mate called out to her. A friendly smile decorated the unknown girl's face, void of any hint of disgust or disapproval.

"Hehe! See you tomorrow."

Taking off faster than a plane, Himiko made her way towards her other friends. Though she did drink the blood of her new friends, they were aware that Himiko was vampiric and were cool with it.

For some reason, she became more famous after the truth came to light. Maybe it was just the age of vampires now.

Many boys even tried to have their blood sucked by Himiko, except she never drank the blood of boys willfully. There were only two such situations in the past, where she drank the blood of a boy.

'It was probably the make-up.'

I chalked up her popularity to her beauty. She had a mischievous look going on for her.

Sure, there were those who were disgusted by her, like the teachers and some students.... Sadly, they were all mugged by a 'thug' who broke their bones.

Love beats hate. Disgust beats love. But fear conquers all. As they say, 'Fist is closer than the law'. A small 'conversation' made them change their minds. Even if someone was disgusted by Himiko, they didn't have the guts to show it.

Sadly, her parents weren't talking with her and I couldn't use my 'talking skills' with them. Himiko wished to solve it peacefully.

"It is peaceful if they are both in an eternal dream."

Mumbling some great lines, I got up from my seat.

'Glorious Death System... Damn, that's a mouthful to say.'

In the past 2 years, growth has been quite slow but consistent. Thankfully, the American blacksmith was still willing to do business with me.

We had gotten to know each other well because of all the previous requests that I had. It was costly but Tsuzuru had been saving up my pay-checks, which finally came in handy.

Sadly, the power growth that came with the bracelets vanished as my speed had fallen too much.

Since speed by mass is force. I used greater mass as an advantage to make stronger hits at the sacrifice of some agility but the disparity between the two had grown too much. So much that even with the increased mass, my force remained the same.

Fortunately, I didn't need to increase my attack power anymore.

Growth in these three years was faster than the past 10 years.

I can already open the [Gate of Limit]. Staying in that form is whole another thing.

'Now that I think about it, my side quest is about start too.'

___________________________

At first, it seemed like a quest that would take me around quite a bit since it was figuratively and literally endless but it has been silent for the past 3 years. Letting me grow peacefully.

"It's a just a feeling but I can feel you sceming against me, system! I can just smell it in the ai-Okay~ I have spent way too much time with Stendhal."

He also vanished last month, saying that found a foul stench.

- It's... The stench of villainy!

What didn't I ever smell that? No, how could he even smell something like that without a quirk. My senses were almost 6 times an average adult in normal form, much less the released one.

Yet I can't seem to find anything other than farts.

'That's why I hate it when others sit on my desk. It leaves a 'Stench of Villainy' too. Though of a different kind.'

Stealthily swapping desks with my neighbor, I started leaving the school.

- Ding!

"AHA! I knew it!"

A red arrow appeared in the empty sky. Along with it came strange wordings.

[The Bubaigawara Incident]

"What is the 'Bubaigawara' incident?"

I scratched my head, trying to remember if there was any strange character called Bubaigawara. That was one hell of a name though.

Bubaigawara, like an atom bomb.

Anyway, the path was already laid before. The only thing left to do was follow it.

The arrow led towards a strange, unknown place. Thankfully, with the help of modern GPS systems, one could easily reach home.... Or the ocean as the GPS wills it.

"Is it here?"

I reached a strange warehouse, where strange noises were coming from.

- Clink

With a small sound, the bracelets came undone. It was a pain to use a key to unlock it every time but it had something to do with the blacksmith's quirk so there was nothing I could do about it.

Hence, it was necessary to remove them before starting a battle.

"Yo! Anybody home."

I walked in like I owned the place.

"Oi! I'm the original!"

"No, I'm the original!"

Twins? No, the number was more than 20. 20 look-alikes were fighting among each other about something.

The number was decreasing without the need for me to even interfere. So I watched the show. Cola would have been appreciated at this time.

Sadly, these look-alikes weren't that great at fighting and melted after taking a certain amount of damage.

'I can cause more damage with a single hit.'

I mused to myself.

After the fight, only one person remained.
