9 Cold Soba

Chapter-9

"Good morning Sensei" Akira greeted Aizawa as he entered the classroom. He momentarily paused when he saw what was written on the board.

"Maths again?" He muttered in annoyance as he sat on his seat.

"Well, we have maths as the first class for everyday this year so there's no other way than getting used to it, Akira-san." Momo smiled at him.

"Oh, you're already here? And I thought I was early." Akira greeted her and sat on his seat, next to her.

"I just wanted to be early." Momo replied.

"That's a nice habit to have." Akira yawned. He didn't have a good sleep.

"Are you tired? Did you not sleep well last night?" Momo asked after seeing his yawn and rubbing his eyes.

"Um- yeah" Akira laughed, not wanting to reveal that he just played games all night.

"That's not healthy Akira-san, did you have something important to do?" Momo enquired after giving him some advice.

"Yes…" Akira thought of a reason, "Yeah, I was training. After all, if I'm gonna become a hero, I need to be strong."

"That's great but rest is also important to a hero." Momo smiled, quickly taking a glance at his muscular arms. They weren't bulky but one could tell the effort put behind it at a glance.

Akira noticed it, but didn't comment and just stayed quiet, not thinking much of it.

"Fucking player…" All the while, Mineta, who also arrived early in hopes he could talk with some girls, just gritted at the sight of Akira openly speaking with a girl, something he'll never have.

Slowly, the other students started coming into the class one by one, and soon after the clock hit 8 am, Aizawa stepped forward on the podium.

"Hehm, don't slack off." Saying that Aizawa left the class.

'That's it?' Almost all the students had the same thought at that moment.

"Oi! You green punk!" Bakugo immediately shouted after Aizawa left the class.

Akira turned a blind eye, or deaf ear in this case and continued to stare at the book in his hand.

"Hey! I'm talking to you-"

"Yeah yeah, I heard it fine the first time." Akira closed his book and stood up from his seat, fed up by Bakugo's behaviour.

"Then why didn't you respond!?" Bakugo started up right back at Akira's eyes.

"Oh sorry, I didn't think you were that dumb." Akira laughed, to annoy Bakugo even more. "If you didn't catch the hint, I was ignoring you. Must be new to you right? self-centred prick."

"You-" Bakugo was at a loss for words, because Akira was right.

"What? Backing off?" Akira stepped forward, Akira was larger than Bakugo making Bakugo step back instinctively.

"Heh, Thought so…" Akira laughed and went back to his seat, loudly muttering, "Coward."

The whole class was dead quiet, making Bakugo more and more embarrassed each moment. He was in deep thought, wondering why he was even mad in the first place.

"Was that really necessary?" Mina muttered first.

"Of course, otherwise he'd not know his place in the food chain." Mineta replied.

"Food chain? When did that form?" Ochako asked.

"The moment our first test finished." Kirishima replied.

"For someone who's not even in the top 3 he sure has a lot of guts." Kirishima said loudly.

"Shut up, he was better than you." Akira shut him up.

"Hey, let me have my moment man!!"

The rest of the thoughtful ones just noted on their mind to not mess with Akira as he seems to not give a fuck and have no social anxiety.

"You shouldn't have gotten this emotional for something like this Akira-san." Momo advised, not to be happy with what Akira did.

"What made you think I was emotional?" Akira smirked back, "I was just making him realise this is no longer middle school."

"Still.."

"We are no longer kids Momo, this is not only for him" Akira stared at the rest of the class, "But for everyone of you, we are no longer middle schoolers. The sooner you realise that the better."

"Woah… what's with the sudden seriousness?" Kaminari was baffled by the sudden speech and so was the rest of the class.

"Well… just saw the casualty rate of hero course students this morning." Akira shrugged, "At least 30 students die each year."

"Well that's not a lot…" Someone whispered.

"Remember that the total students in the hero course is just about 1000. If you do that calculation, that is 3 in every 100 students, or 1 in every 33 students which is bad considering there are 40 students just in the first year." Saying that Akira just sat down.

He didn't want his classmates to still think the profession as a hero was a presine and noble one with no dangers.

"WELL SAID YOUNG KENTO!!" Suddenly a deep voice yelled from the outside of the classroom.

Soon the doors were pushed open, as a large All Might in his iconic costume came inside the classroom with a wide smile and fiery passion.

He was happy after hearing Akira's words.

"ALL MIGHT!!??"

"SO IT'S REAL? HE'S GONNA TEACH US!?"

"THAT'S HIS SILVERAGE COSTUME!!"

The students were naturally excited at the thought of their idol and the number 1 superhero for the past years teaching them.

Whale Akira wasn't that hyped up, he was just thinking, 'Why's he here? Wasn't this supposed to be math?'

"Um- All Might sensei! Wasn't this period supposed to be maths for us?" Momo was just as confused as him and asked loudly.

"Oh, good question young woman" All Might, still not used to teaching, just praised her for no reason, "Ectoplasm has an important thing to do currently, so I'll fill in now. Today your hero course will be taught in the morning."

"Does that mean we'll still have normal classes in the afternoon?" Ida asked.

"Yeah."

Almost all of the students sighed in annoyance.

"Today I'll be teaching you,BASIC HERO TRAINING!! The class that'll mould you into true heroes Today's activity is Battle training " All Might shouted as he did a pose. "And it also gives you lots of credit."

"Battle Training!?" everyone shouted.

"Does that mean we get to finally use our costumes?" Akira asked.

"Right to the point again, Young Kento!"

"YEEEAHHHHHHH!!!"

—---------------------

All the students gathered in the asked location after putting on their requested costumes. Each one of them were wearing costumes that they thought suited them the best, while some had ideas that made use of their quirk, some just opted for what they wanted.

"Cool costume Akira-san." Momo walked near Akira and praised his costume.

He was wearing a suit similar to the green lantern uniform, except the symbol in the middle of the chest. It did justice to him as it highlighted his muscles.

"You too-" Akira's eyes involuntarily went to Momo's… assets which she was revealing boldly. "Great too Momo. You're very bold."

"Thanks, I need more skin exposed to make many things quickly." Momo smirked, not aware of what her 'bold and efficient' dress did to the boys and girls of her class.

"Stop flirting all the time dude!" Kaminari put his hand around Akira's shoulder and dragged him away from Momo.

"By the way, you look like a male stripper." He commented on Akira's dress.

"And you look like a clown." Akira chuckled back.

"You're just jealous."

They both came to a stop when they saw what Midoriya was wearing and immediately laughed before shutting their own mouths.

"If I look like a clown then what is he?" Kaminari said, struggling to suppress his laughter.

"The whole damn circus…" Akira was also in the same position, not able to control his laughter.

"You guys are rude." Eijiro shook his head at the sight of them suppressing their laughter.

"And what happened to you?" He asked, looking at Mineta who looked like he was having an existential crisis.

"Big… it was so big… how? Is he half-African?" He was muttering to himself.

"Hey are you ok?"

"No I'm not!" Mineta yelled, "How can I be!? With guys like him I have no chance!"

"What's with him?" Kaminari asked while looking at Mineta who was pointing at Akira.

"Oh, when I pulled him away from the peep hole to the girl's changing room, his face was dragged on my crotch." Akira replied casually, while looking on his phone waiting for All Might to come.

"Damn… no wonder he's like that." Kaminari nodded, he's been to an onsen with Akira and knew how large his pipe was. "With how tall he is, bro is probably smaller than a child."

"Meh, my cock wasn't hard."

"I bet yours will still be bigger," Kaminari chuckled.

Soon All Might arrived on the spot and told the students all the instructions about the hero-villain game which separates students into a pair of hero and villain. The hero team will have to capture either the villains or the 'prop' which the villain team is supposed to guard.

The winning team will get more credits than the losing team.

"So… this isn't basic training?" Tsuyu asked aloud.

"No better thing that'll teach you basics than practical experience! It's like learning to ride a bike, unless you have practical experience you can't ride it!!" All Might replied as loud as ever.

"Doesn't the villain team have an advantage? All they have to do is stall for time while the hero team doesn't even have prep time." Ochako asked, finding the game unfair.

"That's the point of this, in reality heroes have an extremely limited time and often have to team up with heroes of other agencies during emergencies." All Might replied.

"I see…" She nodded.

'Why is she asking the obvious?' For the first time Akira, Momo and Shoto had similar thoughts.

"And your panthers will be decided by drawing lots" All Might took a large box from the bag he was carrying.

"Is that really the best way?" Ida asked, not sure if drawing lots was a good idea.

All Might didn't reply and started pulling out the balls. From the lots and assigned the teams. The teams were,

Team A- Midoriya and Uraraka

Team B- Shoto and Shoji

Team C- Momo and Mineta

Team D- Ida and Bakugo

Team E- Akira and Mina

Team F- Sato and Aoyama

Team G- Kaminari and Jiro

Team H- Fumikage and Tsuyu

Team I- Toru and Ojiro

Team J- Sero and Kirishima.

"Aww man, I wanted to be on the same team as you." Kaminari sighed.

"This isn't that deep man." Akira said as he took a step away from Kaminari, slightly suspicious that he might have become gay.

"Hey Kento-kun! We're on the same team!" Mina hopped close to him.

"Yeah. We can discuss a plan after knowing whether we're heroes or villains." Akira didn't show any excitement, cause he wasn't.

"Yeah! I was thinking the same!" But Mina was as energetic as ever.

"Now… the teams I'm gonna pull out are the ones who'll be competing first!!" All Might yelled as he took out a ball from two new boxes labelled villain and hero.

"Team A as the heroes and team D as the villains!!"

Both Midoriya and Bakugo were the ones who were really shocked.

The selected teams were asked to stay on the site while the rest of the students along with All Might went to the observation room where the display for all the cameras around the site was fixed.

"U.A. certainly doesn't hold back in infrastructure." Akira muttered in awe at the sight of more than 60 monitors each displaying separate displays of the building in which the villain team was.

"After the mini city they built here, all of this seems pretty normal." Mina replied.

Each team member were standing together to increase synergy and form a basic plan which works even if they were heroes or villains.

"Seeing Bakugo grin like that makes him look like a real villain."

"Who'll get mad at his own shadow." Akira chuckled. Making fun of Bakugo every chance he gets.

"What's with you and him? Are you past enemies or something?" Mina asked curiously, from the outside, it seemed like Akira hated bakugo.

"Nah, I didn't even know him before U.A." Akira shook his head, "I just hate him as a person. Nothing else"

"... Was that any better?" Mina was baffled at how frank Akira was, at the same time she didn't hate his honesty either.

'He's a potential candidate' Mina nodded to herself.

Soon the game started, at the beginning Midoriya easily predicted Bakugo and planned according to it. So when Bakugo ambushed them, Midoriya stood back with Bakugo while Ochaco rushed to the 'prop'.

Though he was prepared, Midoriya was still overwhelmed by the aggressive and mindless attacks of Bakugo who stopped caring about the game and started to bring his ego into the game.

The fight between them stopped being just a spar and got more serious as time passed. Midoriya was still calm and had control over himself, dodging all of Bakugo's attacks while Bakugo started mindlessly blasting whatever was close to him.

"Aren't they taking it a bit far?" Momo asked, concerned that something may happen.

All Might didn't reply and just solemnly looked at the monitor and, putting his trust in his successor, tested to see how he'll handle the situation.

"Bakugo seems to be at an advantage…" Kirishima muttered.

"Not for sure, if Midoriya used his quirk the whole building's going down." Kaminari said. He knew about Midoriya's feat in the entrance exam. If he took down a robot the size of a building, he'll probably take down the building too.

"Then the prop missile will be destroyed and the hero team will still lose." Momo said.

"Not if Uraraka reached it first, with her quirk she'll still be able to protect it from falling and getting destroyed." Akira interjected.

"But Ochaco doesn't even know the location of the prop missile and Ida will probably stop her before that, he's physically stronger than her and is also very quick." Momo told her assumption.

"That would be a concern if the villain team didn't hide the missile in the highest floor and He's definitely fast, but the rooms are tall. What's to say that She won't just float and crawl using the roof? He can't reach her."

"That's true…" Momo nodded and started to think.

"Woah guys… are we really not talking about the fact that Midoriya's single hit can literally kill them all?" Mineta asked, confused at why none of his classmates seems to care about that.

"Meh, he seems to have a clear mind." Kirishima shrugged.

"Midoriya doesn't seem the type of person to break that easily." Akira said, remembering Midoriya training endlessly on the beach.

All Might looked at Akira thinking, 'He sure judges someone right. But he also has a lot to learn.'

"Though all it takes is one bad incident or even a word to snap someone." Akira looked carefully at the monitor, trying to lip read what they were saying but couldn't. "And let's hope this isn't that day for Midoriya."

'Nevermind. He's smart.' All Might looked back at the monitor, now a bit concerned and scared that something bad would happen.

He was contemplating whether to stop the game or not.

In the end Midoriya did snap and ended up destroying the whole top floors of the building with his punch. Thankfully none of them were badly hurt except Midoriya. Like Akira expected, Ochaco managed to catch the prop missile before it fell and won the match.

"Can't believe they won in the end. I feel bad for Ida." Kaminari muttered after the first round ended.

"Him being a crackhead aside, Bakugo was a natural at combat." Akira said.

"Woah, you're praising him?" Mina asked in surprise.

"Praise given to where it deserves, Bakugo wasn't a thinker type. He's all instinct." Momo said, observing Bakugo's fighting style.

"Exactly, a natural." Akira nodded, "Though the term rabid dog would also be correct."

"Hey, the old Akira's back." Kaminari laughed.

"Still, if you want the 4th place you better start training seriously." Akira patted Kaminari's shoulder and started walking away, signalling Mina to come with him.

"Look at him acting cool and all!" Kaminari mocked and turned away, "Jokes on him, I am training well behind his back. I can't wait to see his surprised face when I show my new moves."

"Who are you lying to? You'll never be as good or cool as him." Mineta shouted.

"What's your problem man? Just leave me alone"

Shoto observed all of that and started wondering what to eat for dinner.

'Maybe cold soba...'
