85 Chapter 84:- Attackers Identity

Kaito stepped forward, his hand hovering over the switch that controlled the restraints. A choice in front of him, silence Miyuki and maintain order, or loosen the cuffs and invite chaos.

At that moment, Kaito just pressed the button on the switch which tightened the cuff's grip on Miyuki's neck and her limbs, her face started turning blue, followed by a shade of pale, as she struggled for air, trying to free herself from the constraints only to be met with a failed attempt and loss of even more breaths that she was already running out of.

"Now now Kaito san, you wouldn't want to kill her so easily now, would you?" said a voice as everyone shifted their gaze to the source of the voice.

Soon they saw Akari coming with the once unconscious guards who followed as if a fanatic devotee would follow their god.

"Who are you?" asked Miyuki as she didn't recognize Akari.

"Aren't you too self-absorbed bitch, she is another of your victim, did you even forget that?" asked Kaito

"What are you talking about, you Psycho, this is the first time I've seen her, I haven't met her in my whole life," shouted Miyuki after getting the air she was deprived of a few moments ago.

"And infact my only victims are you guys, that too because I wanted your promotion, and nothing else," continued Miyuki.

The room plunged into an eerie silence, a suffocating tension tightening its grip. Kaito couldn't fathom the unfolding scene. Miyuki's bewildered gaze locked onto Akari as if encountering her for the first time. Her expression mirrored genuine shock, devoid of pretense or familiarity. It was as if a stranger stood before her, an unknown adversary triggering an unexpected reaction that even Miyuki herself seemed unable to comprehend, seeing that Kaito felt weird, really weird, 'was she suffering from Alzheimer's or something?' thought Kaito

"Who are you?" Miyuki choked out, her voice ragged. "And why are you doing this?"

Akari smiled, a cold, unsettling curve of her lips. "Let's just say, Miyuki, you will be the second domino that falls after Aldera did, and the third domino that's going to fall in total," said Akari with a smile.

Kaito's men blinked, eyes darting between him and the shadowed figure that had just uttered the name "Aldera." The word hung heavy in the air, a storm cloud filled with the memories of sleepless nights and relentless drills.

For the police, Aldera wasn't just a place; it was a gaping wound in their pride, a constant reminder of their failure. The infamous video, replayed on every news channel, served as a cruel monument to their helplessness. No suspects, no arrests, just grainy footage of masked figures vanishing into the night, leaving behind a trail of chaos and a gnawing sense of shame.

The public had moved on, their attention fickle and easily diverted by the flashy exploits of pro heroes. But for the police, Aldera was an open wound, festering with a bitterness that colored their every interaction with the public. The rise of heroes had pushed them further into the shadows, relegated to the thankless task of mopping up the messes left behind by capes and tights. Garbage disposal, that's what they felt like these days, their once respected role reduced to a footnote in the superhero saga

The name "Aldera" struck Miyuki like a physical blow. The gruesome details of the genocide were seared into her memory, not just as a police officer who had poured countless hours into the fruitless investigation, but as a woman.

The inhumanity inflicted on the victims, especially the women, ignited a fiery rage within her. Justice seemed elusive, perpetually out of reach, but her determination blazed even brighter. In every empty report, every dead end, she found renewed resolve to make the perpetrators pay, to ensure they endured a fate worse than the one they had unleashed on Aldera.

The embers of rage in Miyuki's chest died, replaced by a chilling premonition. The newsreel of Aldera played behind her eyelids: masked figures emerging from shadows, screams of all the females as they were raped.

The stench of ash and fear clawed at her throat, the echo of all the victims of Aldera ringing in her ears. This wasn't just another case; it was Aldera all over again, and this time, the line between saviours and victims was about to blur.

As not only was she facing Akari, an unknown person whom she knew nothing about, but her quirk, her only defense, lay dormant under the influence of the quirk suppressing cuffs, leaving her a sitting duck.

Akari, draped in black shadows, slowly circled Miyuki, her eyes, glinting like malevolent emeralds, sending shivers down the princess's spine. Miyuki knew, with a bone-chilling certainty, that becoming a target wasn't the worst that awaited her in Akari's presence

Yet she had some shred of hope left in her, thinking Akari might be one of those people who use the name of big shot criminals to act all tough, to scare people and cause a commotion, and since the hot topic was Aldera today, she thought Akari might be one of those people, acting all tough on the outside but a wimp on the inside as she had come across countless people who impersonate a big criminal only to be coming back running towards them seeking help as the real deal is now out for blood for tarnishing their blood, and this was a common thing for her when working on duty.

So she felt a bit at ease, and decided to persuade Akari so that she can get out of these cuffs and teach Kaito and his men a lesson they would never forget, while letting Akari go without any case as a bargain.

"Hey kid or whoever you are, this is no place for joke and especially not the right time either, so why don't we make a deal," said Miyuki.

"Hmm~ What deal?" Asked Akari amused.

"You free me from these cuffs, act as a witness of their actions and in return I'll let you go free, no charges against you, what do you say?" asked Miyuki with a confident smile thinking this deal is too good for her to let go and she'll just agree to the deal and soon she'll be free.

Akari stood there silently thinking something.

Seeing this Miyuki had a grin on her face, while Kaito and his men were sweating profusely thinking Miyuki was too cunning and they are finished if Akari agrees to it.

Kaito was regretung his decision of letting her blabber like this as she was probably trying to turn the tables in her favour.

After a few minutes Akari looked at Miyuki as he said, "Your deal's pretty amazing and I would definitely deal with you, " said Akari with a smile as a smile formed on Miyuki's face as well, a rather cunning one at that.

While Kaito and his men had only thought, 'We are fucked.'

Akari continued as she said, "I would have said that if I were meeting you for the very first time and didn't know anything about you, but I know everything about you and one thing I know is that you never keep your promises, besides torture is more fun then letting you go," said Akari with a murderous smile.

"And most importantly do you really think that you are going out of here alive?" asked Akari with a smile.

"Do you think you can really kill me, aren't you a coward to kill people when they have their hands tied, powers suppressed, if you are really brave then why don't you free me from these inhibitions and see if you can still kill me," said Miyuki with a spite of venom in her voice.

"Do you really think I would fall for your stupid tricks of taunting, I orchestrated the whole Aldera incident, killed all those people, under the nose of you police and pro heroes, and you couldn't find a single assailant, not a single clue about who did it, I had you running around the city searching for someone who was right under your nose, do you really think that you can escape from me?" asked Akari in a really slow and a really cold tone as his hands trailed around Miyuki's face.

Listening to this Miyuki and her colleagues had their blood turned cold, as they sweated profusely and their spines turned cold.

The same was the case for Kaito and his men as well.

Akari looked at Kaito and his men as she said, "What's with the shocked expression Kaito san, wasn't the first line I said when I introduced myself was Master Thanatos sends his regards, did you really think some saint would help you get this revenge of yours?" Asked Akari as if it was the most obvious thing.

Kaito and his men were silent digesting the info given to them.

"Yeah the only thing I lied about was that, I am not a servant of Master Thanatos, I am Thanatos," said Akari as her voice started turning masculine, just like Tobi did when he heard of Itachi Uchiha's death through Zetsu.

And soon Akari's figure distorted and what followed next filled them with horror.
