Dear My Unfortunate

That night, Liu Yumei lay restless, his body shifting and winding beneath the weight of his thick bedspread. The room was kissed by a gentle breeze, which caressed his face as he absorbed the symphony of city life. The honks of passing cars and the yells of street vendors blended with the distant laughter of pedestrians strolling along the sidewalk. As the city's cacophony acted as a lullaby, he surrendered to slumber, and his dreams unfurled.

Within the realm of his mind, Liu Yumei's thoughts were consumed by his family. Memories of his parents, who had been unwavering pillars of support throughout his childhood, took centre stage. Their modest means couldn't overshadow the enormous sacrifices they'd made for his success. As a young boy, his dreams of entrepreneurship had seemed like distant stars, but with unrelenting determination, he had transformed them into a reality. Yet, even though his father had toiled tirelessly to provide him with a brighter future, their humble income couldn't quite sustain his opulent lifestyle.

Liu Yemui awoke, drenched in a cold sweat, realizing he had drifted off while listening to the urban symphony outside. He quickly sat up in bed, rubbing his eyes. These dreams had visited him before, but this time, they carried a weight of significance. It was as if a key had unlocked a long-buried memory, evoking the recollection of a name engraved deep within his heart. He delved into the recesses of his mind, searching for answers.

In his dream, he saw himself standing upon a hill, overlooking a vast landscape. A majestic river flowed across a plain covered by lush green grass. To his left was a dense forest, its dark canopy shrouding a group of towering mountains. Beyond those peaks lay another land, shrouded by fog. In the midst of the mist stood one figure, They were silhouetted against the morning light, the former dressed in white robes, the latter wearing black.

"Mother.." Liu Yumai whispered softly, his voice hoarse, yet full of longing.

The woman looked down at him. She smiled and extended an open hand towards him. Her palm bore a ring of gold encrusted with jewels, which shone brightly under the rays of the rising sun. As she offered it to him, he could hear her voice echoing in his ear, "Take this ring and become a man."

woke up abruptly, startled by the sound of his own voice.

Was that what the dream meant? Was that why he kept having these disturbing visions? Why did he feel compelled to remember? What was his subconscious trying to tell him?

These questions plagued Liu Yumei, and he began to ponder his purpose.

[Host, are you having trouble sleeping, is there anything you want to share with me.]

Liu Yemui's gaze remained fixed on the holographic image displaying a message from the Quy system, suspended above his head. A peculiar sense of serenity washed over him at that moment, and he couldn't help but attribute it to thoughts of his late mother. Her passing, which had occurred years ago, had a way of bringing an unexpected calmness. Alternatively, it might have been driven by an innate longing to uncover more about her.

With a decisive movement, Liu Yemui climbed out of his bed and made his way to the window, where he found solace in the burgeoning cityscape. The sunrise never ceased to amaze him; even in the midst of the city's ceaseless hustle and bustle, its innate beauty was a constant, akin to a serene lake nestled in a quiet forest glade.

The radiant dawn ignited a spark of optimism within Liu Yemu's heart. The mental fog that had shrouded his thoughts dissipated like morning mist, revealing a pristine, azure sky. It evoked memories of his mentor's wisdom, who had once imparted, "A man should never let others control his destiny;

Turning his attention to the Quy system, Liu Yemui's voice resonated with a determined resolve, cutting through the silence, "Are there any daily quests awaiting my pursuit today?"

[Apologies, Host, but there are no quests scheduled for today as you completed them all yesterday. If you wish to embark on a new quest, I could arrange one for you. Would you be interested in a quest for today?]

Liu Yemui's gaze shifted back to the sun peeking over the horizon, casting a warm glow over the awakening city. His mind mulled over the proposed tasks, and after a moment's contemplation, he murmured to himself:

"Sure."

The Quy system chimed in with an enthusiastic tone, "Good! Then I'll initiate your quest right away."

Shortly after, the system presented him with a series of tasks for the day, the list materializing before his eyes:

- Get a Part-time job

- Visit nearby Library

- Attend School

After reading the list, Liu Yemui thoughtfully mused, "I'm not sure how much time will actually pass between completing each task..."

As soon as he finished the last sentence, however, the Quy system interrupted him, saying, "You're kidding!?"

Liu Yemui Lending his head through the windowsill, he gazed at the city below. After a moment, he replied, "No, it seems like quite not interesting for reason to complete such mundane activities, so maybe I won't do it at all."

The Quy System responded with a puzzled tone, "Fine then, If you complete the task, I will give you a special grade boost!"

Liu Yumai chuckled slightly, amused by the notion of receiving extra points for doing something boring or uninteresting. He continued pondering the situation as he entered the kitchen and prepared breakfast.

"Seem promising," he said to himself while cooking.

It took less than half an hour for Liu Yemei to finish preparing food. Once done, he went into the living room and sat on the couch, watching the sun rise ever closer to the horizon. As usual, he felt peaceful and free when sitting alone in the house—the feeling of solitude helped him relax and unwind. With nothing else to occupy his mind, he turned inward and started thinking about his past experiences.

Since his father is on a business trip, we don't get many opportunities to talk together...

His thoughts drifted to his childhood days when his mother was still alive and he'd spend most of his time playing outdoors with other children. He recalled vivid images of running around wild fields and forests with his friends, laughing and enjoying themselves. That was probably the happiest period of his life.

But now that she's gone, the only thing left is loneliness.

This realization hit home hard. In fact, this very moment reminded him of the same feelings he used to experience every night since his mother passed away.

Back then, he would find himself lying awake staring up at the ceiling, unable to sleep because of grief. At least until he made friends with his uncle, who taught him how to go to sleep without crying.

From that point onward, whenever he experienced sleepless nights, he would simply ask his uncle to play chess with him, and they'd end up chatting until late into the night. But things were different now. Nowadays, he couldn't help but think of her.

He remembered how his aunt always told him stories about his grandmother during meals. She also tried teaching him what little bit she knew about culture and history.

It was interesting things about Liu Yemui's Past life until now...
