7 The Bet

Alexander King kicked away the stones on the road to vent his dissatisfaction.

As a policeman with a sense of justice, he is not afraid of danger. On the contrary, he wants to run there first and do some ass whopping whenever there is danger.

But he couldn't get what he wanted because of some assholes. Either there are other tasks to be arranged for him to do, or he ain't allowed to participate.

Alexander King is well aware of the reasons for this situation. But he wasn't happy about it.

Delayed justice is not justice, and belated paternal love is naturally not paternal love. He has never had a father figure in the first half of his life. But he has become independent and self-reliant.

But when he successfully graduated from the police academy with honors., "father" appeared, wanting to trample on all his hard work so far with his money and status.

He told Alexander the harsh truth. That all he has ever worked for doesn't even count toward a day of profits from selling oil. And the time has come for him to take the mantle of the empire his father has built.

Oh! Alexander was pissed. He threw away the keys of the new limited edition Bugatti his father had gifted him in the sewage canal. And walked off like a champ.

He didn't see the weird gazes filled with jealousy and contempt he was getting from the public. He did so.

"You look angry, bro."

A voice suddenly sounded.

"Yeah, I'm so angry that I want to find someone to fight."

Alexander glared in the direction of the sound like an angry lion. But he is built like a rhinoceros. Steal-like muscles, a sharp jawline, and a handsome face. And a freaking trillionaire oil tycoon as his father.

Alexander thought he would find a similar man like him from that manly voice he heard. But the truth hit him right in the balls.

Alexander looked to his right, ready to have a kickboxing match in the middle of the street. But he is surprised and disappointed to find a weak kid, barely 20.

"Can I invite you to have a drink?" Alex asked with a confident smile. He had already replaced his [Trouble Magnet] with [A Good Guy] attribute.

"No." Alexander refused without hesitation.

"Is this dude gay?" Alexander murmured while walking away swiftly.

Alex's smile froze.

"What the hell did you say?"

Alexander stopped when he heard Alex shouting behind him. Well, the kid has guts, he thought.

"He listens hime, kido. I don't have time to entertain you. Whether you are gay or not, it doesn't matter. I have the stuff to do. So see ya."

Alexander started to walk away after saying this.

"Where are you headed to. The construction site?" Alex asked with an innocent look.

"I know who carried out that massacre, but too bad you are busy. So see yaa." Alex finished saying and started to walk in the opposite direction.

Now things have reversed. It is Alexander who is running towards Alex.

"What did you say, kid? Don't joke around with me."

"I don't have time to joke around, Alexander," Alex replied with a cocky smile.

"How do you know my name," Alexander asked in shock.

"Let's just say I have my ways. But I think you might be interested in this video more."

"What's in it?"

"You will know once you see it." Ales replied.

"Well, then show it." Alexander became impatient.

"Not him, Alexander. Not me. Follow me."

"And what makes you think I will follow you. You may be leading me into a....."

Alexander couldn't help but stop in the middle of his speech because he saw the gun in Alex's hand.

At that moment, Alexander knew he had fucked up...

"I bet you will definitely be interested..." Alex shook the gun in his right hand and the camera in his left hand.

Alex doesn't intend to waste time. His time is very tight, and there are many things he needs to do before the angry Brian gets the results of the interrogation.

He leads Alexander into an alley.

"Who are you?" Alexander asked.

"Just watch this. My name is not important." Alex threw the camera at him.

Alexander caught the camera, probably thinking about it. Still, he stopped planning after seeing the gun's muzzle in Alex's hand shaking like a warning.

Even though he has tough muscles, a bullet at this close range can easily kill him.

So he played the video in the camera just as Alex told him to.

A man on the rough electric chair, with snot and tears, moaning with despair as he continuously said the same thing over and over.

"The construction site... the females abducted are sent to the construction site... they will be sent home to be screened..."

The next scene appears.

A man sitting on a chair, waving a cigar: "One of these cigars is all the value an inferior good..."

Then a gunshot rang out, and the man fell to the ground, wailing.

Then there is a long shot, entering from the door of a long aluminum plate house. Messy and narrow space, dim environment, confused moaning, disheveled and weak women...

"These are the inferior goods he mentioned." A strong voice said as narration.

The video continued on. At the end of the video, Alexander's fingers holding the camera turned pale, and his breathing became short of breath.

"Shocking isn't it," Alex said, "It's just a rough cut and abbreviated version. Editing in this era still needs some effort and time. Besides, I haven't collected all the materials... But it's probably coming soon, so stay tuned."

"What are you going to do?" Alexander looked at Alex with complicated eyes.

"It's not what I'm going to do," Alex said.

"I think Officer Alexander, you are probably angry because you couldn't go to the scene to catch the criminal?"

"Well, now the perpetrator is right in front of you. What are you going to do?"

Alex paused slightly, and a smile appeared as he taunted Alexander.

The darkness in the alley and the streetlights outside separated Alex's smile into two halves.

One side is the type that usually gives people a sunny and comfortable feeling. The other, semi-shrouded in the darkness, brings forth an unspeakable... strange charm of madness.

"How do you think this event will play out? Will I become a righteous him or a horrible crime?"

"...With this video, I can help you get rid of your crime to an extend," Alexander said after hesitating.

He naively thought Alex would turn himself in. Contrary to Alexander's expected reaction, Alex withdrew his smile and shook his head disappointedly.

"Boring."

"What?" Alexander was taken aback.

"What I want is not to get rid of my crimes or a reduced prison time. That would be too boring." Alex spread his hands and then scratched his head in distress.

"Your naivety is really troublesome, but let me help you. I will help you see the real world clearly..."

He opened his hands, and his eyes started to sparkle with madness.

"Alexander King, let's make a bet!"
