While they chatted, Derek asked a crucial question and Angel's answer stood between his own thoughts though when he thought about things from her perspective, but hers was for the better.

"I'm guessing you also want me to leave," Angel said with a pout, making her cheeks inflate. Her cute expression drew a small smile from Derek.

"No, you're good there… for now" his last words were inaudible so Angel didn't hear it. Derek knew Angel had good friends there even if he only recognized one and it would be better to let her stay there, as bringing her over here would only make things worse.

He wasn't strong enough to protect her or anyone else against the real monstrosities, besides it wasn't like it was every time she would get into such danger but his future job was meant to throw him into the face of things that people would never want to see their entire lives.
