Chapter 89

“Have you seen Mathias?” he barked. His tone made the young girl jump, and she picked up the drink Lyle had just given her to bolt for a nearby table. Edmund seemed oblivious to the menacing effect he was having, his knuckles white where he gripped the edge of the bar.

Lyle gestured toward the exit. “He came out of the back and almost ran out of here. I haven’t seen him come back in, though.”

Edmund propelled himself in the new direction, leaving Darby to take chase again. They stopped outside the front door, but she was already pretty sure what they were going to find.

“I can’t believe he’s doing this.” Edmund prowled back and forth at the edge of the parking lot, his eyes dark as they remained fixed on the pulsing night. “He’s an idiot. He’s not even completely healed yet.”

“Maybe he’ll have better luck catching her,” Darby tried. “He knows Tatiana better than you do, after all.”
