Due to this the merchants who gathered here thrived and it started to become big which in turn made more taxes for the Imperial Government

So as they grew the Imperial Government started to provide protection since the Quangho was a goldmine for them.

In terms of power the city lord didn't mean much, the true authority within Quangho Trading city is the merchants who are under the protection of the Imperial Government.

"We are here Saviour Jin," One of the Escorts said, stopping the carriage in front of a huge castle-like building in front.
