The Hearing (I)

Angels High School

"Mia!" Hazel shouted as she ran towards Mia to hug her,

"(confused) what's up did something happen?"

"No just missed you, you don't have to look so serious" Hazel replied laughing,

"I thought something was wrong" Mia hissed,

"(laughs) nah, did you see hear the news" 

"Yes, I did" Mia said as they started walking into the school building,

"I'm glad the government has decided to intervene our safety is guaranteed now" Hazel said,

"I hope so" 

"I know so, don't worry about it, you still coming for Jacks hearing right"

"Yeah definitely"

"Are the boys coming" Hazel asked making Mia stop in her tracks, she suddenly remembered what happened last night,

Last night

After everyone had gone to bed the previous night, Mia woke up and was feeling thirsty, there was no water left in her room so she decided to go get water from the kitchen, on her way to the kitchen she heard someone crying on the balcony, she decided to see who it was, she was surprised to see Shawn in tears, he was crying uncontrollably, she felt really bad for him and could only what was wrong with him, she went closer to him but immediately he noticed her he stopped crying and looked away, Mia sat by him on the floor and pulled him in a hug, Shawn was surprised but didn't protest, he hugged her back feeling comfortable,

"You can let it out, it's okay" hearing this Shawn became emotional and decided to cry his out right there and then, he didn't say a word neither did Mia, she only patted his back as he cried until he fell asleep in her arms, Mia made him put his head on her lap while she stroke his hair gently, they eventually fell asleep on the balcony and was woken up by Jaden that morning 

"Back to earth Mia" Hazel said waving her hand Infront of Mia,

"Oh sorry, I was thinking of something" Mia said then started walking again,

"It was pretty obvious; I asked a question"

"Yeah, they are",

"Okay but what were you thinking of if may ask" on hearing the question Mia blushed, Hazel was surprised,

"Are you blushing" Hazel said chuckling 

"No am not" Mia replied covering her cheecks with her palm,

"Yes you are, tell me, what happened between the two of you"

"Two of who" Mia asked looking confused,

"You and Shawn obviously"

"Nothing happened between us (school bell rings) it's time for assembly, meet me there" Mia said then hurried to the assembly ground,

"Something definitely happened between them (smiles), hey wait up" Hazel said the ran after Mia.

After the assembly Mrs. Penny made an announcement concerning Jack's hearing,

"I know it won't be possible for y'all to come for the hearing but some of you should definitely come so you'll see for yourself the kind of person Jack" students began to mutter when they heard this,

"Quiet down I'm still talking, just make sure you're there to witness everything y'all are dismissed" Mrs. Penny said then walked out of the assembly hall, the students began to mutter again each having different opinion about the matter at hand,

"I know for a matter of fact that Jack is innocent though I've never spoken to him before" Hazel said,

"I don't know him that well but I know he's innocent" Mia replied and started walking towards the exit of the hall,

"Wait a minute, what do we have for first period" Hazel asked 

"Chemistry why?"

"Urh shit, I forgot to do my assignment" Hazel said running ahead of Mia,

"See you in class Mia, I got to hurry before Mr. John gets to class"

"(shakes her head) you always forget your assignment Hazel, always" Mia said to herself.

At The Police Station

Mr. Stone had gone to the station to visit his son before his hearing in the afternoon,

"Look where your stubbornness has put you"

Mr. Stone said as he stared at his son who was looking down at his hands,

"I didn't except things to get this bad, I'm sorry dad" Jack replied with regret but still looking at his hands,

"Save your apology cuss it won't bring your mom out of coma" Mr. Stone said making Jake look at him in shock,

"Mom's in coma?" Jack asked his father,

"Thanks to you"

"But why would you tell her I was arrested when you know she's not strong enough to handle the situation"

"I would ask you the same thing" Mr. Stone replied,

"What'd you mean…. Wait, don't tell me you think I told her"

"That's exactly what I think"

"Why would I do such, ever since I got arrested, I haven't spoken to anyone"

"Who then could have done that" Mr. Stone said resting his elbow on the table,

"I think I know who did, the Griffins" Jake replied with his brows furrowed,

"Oh, I see, anyways I'm only helping you out because of your mother and because you're innocent, I'll be on my way now, see you in court" Mr. Stone said then left the visiting room, Jack stared down at his hands for some time as tears streamed down his cheeks,

"I'm sorry mom" he said as the cop came to take him back to his cell.

Back At Angels High, Mrs. Penny called her daughter to her office to talk about the hearing which would commence later that afternoon,

"I know for a fact that we'll win this case"

"Of course we will, we have proof, solid proof" Kenzie replied,

"But why didn't you tell me you were raped" Mrs. Penny asked looking at her daughter, Kenzie's heart skipped a bit and she suddenly became nervous but she knew exactly what she could use to save herself,

"How could I tell you, you're never available, I can't remember when last we spent quality time together and that has put a barrier between us that I don't even know how to communicate with you anymore" Kenzie said hoping her emotional blackmail would work,

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry" Mrs. Penny said with regret,

"It's fine, I'm used to it" Kenzie said happy her plan worked,

"(caressing Kenzie's hand) I promise to make it up to you okay (Kenzie nods), whenever you need anything at all or you have something to say, do not hesitate to tell me no matter how busy I am I'll find time to listen to you, you're my daughter after all, I didn't behave like a mother should but I'll be sure to be a better mother and grandmother from here onwards okay?" 

"Okay, thanks mom" Kenzie said smiling then walked around the desk to hug her mother.

It's finally the time everyone's been waiting for, the cop had arrived with Jack at the law court, few minutes later students from Angel High began to arrive, Jack's dad and lawyer also arrived, soon after Kenzie arrived and the hearing began. The judge walked into the court room once the plaintiff and the defendant were in their rightful desk,

"All rise!" said the judicial assistant as the judge made her way to her seat.
