Chap# 3: The 'Bind'

I was literally poring over the message but it seemed to be completely undecipherable. What was the 'bind'? And moreover, where on earth do the months come to bind?! Last time I had checked, the months move on a systematic order and don't exactly bind anywhere. Also, even if this was some kind of metaphorical phrase or whatever, it clearly didn't make sense and my english degree was clearly not helping out, instead I felt ashamed of even carrying that degree with me by that point.

As I had gotten home that day, I was totally exhausted and was ready to just hit my head on the pillow and fall asleep, but my mind was hovering with so many questions; irrelevant and relevant. By midnight, I had decided to go to sleep and wake up early in the morning to have fresh thoughts and better ideas.

So when the sun sun lit up the Boston city and crept into my room from behind the blinds, my eyes opened and I quickly got dressed, took a shower and ate my breakfast. Then, I decided to head up to my office which was 15 minutes away from my house; an oddly situated 2-storey building next to the Boston national hospital. The whole building was my office, the basement had a lab for medicinal experiments, DNA tests, blood sample report tests, etc, then the ground floor had 4 rooms- a reception area, my own office, a kitchen and the conference room in which people occasionally used to come to discuss matters with me- and lastly there was the first floor in which there were just 2 rooms- a bathroom, and a storage room filled with boxes and files that stored very important information; it was always locked and the keys remained with me at all times.

As I entered the office, my assistant, Adam, welcomed me back; though he didn't look too happy considering the fact that he began running the place when I retired- just yesterday I had called to let my staff know that I was coming back and we had business to do, and Adam had since stepped down from running the building to becoming my assistant once again. He doesn't really show it but I think that he secretly was relieved that I had come back.

As I stepped into my office room, I was asked if I'd like some tea or coffee and in response to that I ordered coffee as usual. After that I took out the cypher and started to inspect it but there was no luck, until I got interrupted by Adam because someone without a name had mailed something to me. Inside the envelope it was written:

" What do you do when you're unsure about the meaning of something?

- anonymous. "

As I finished reading the note, I thought about the answer to the question as it just flew into my mind. A dictionary! Whenever we're unsure about some word we consult a dictionary as to acquire the correct meaning of the word. Luckily I had a dictionary in my drawer and so I brought it out and scrolled through it until I got to the word "bind."

When I went through the dictionary meaning of bind, I realised what ' where the months come to bind' meant. It meant enclosure of months and the only logical answer to that would be December as it is the month on which the order of the 12 months comes to a halt and repeats all over from January.

Now the question left was that were would I find 'December' on Boston bay!? And to make things even more difficult, the world was still stuck in the month of May.. where do I bring December from?!
