3. Good News

Lillian's POV

So I sat down and waited for the news to hit me , not knowing what to expect . then she spoke.

Our principal is a woman , her name is Mrs. Audrey Sherman , she is slightly built and about 153cm tall with dark brownish hair.

She was white skinned like an Asian and today she was in a blue black suit with a pair of red heels , yes red heels I mean the woman has a weird fashion sense and even though I am not a fashionista at least I know my way around dresses . So as I was saying , she was talking about something so lets get back to what it was.

''So the reason why I called you is because , every year students of Listowell Middle school in their final year are awarded scholarships to various high schools around the world . So this year we are giving out scholarships to ten students and we have already given eight students , now we are left with two students and this was a tough decision because the last one is a very prestigious school in England so we had to give this to very deserving people . So the administration of this school has decided to award you this scholarship along with another student ''.

All this while I was listening to her attentively and now it seemed like I had blacked out suddenly

, '' Miss Anderson , Miss Anderson '',

I felt a tap on my shoulder then I came back to my senses . I couldn't believe what i was hearing , i mean how is this possible? . So i asked her , just in case what i was hearing was wrong,

'' So you are saying that i have been given a scholarship to high school and that the school is in England '' ,

''Yes , exactly ''. she responded.

Now that i heard the news well i didn't know what to feel , i mean i had a mixture of feelings , i was happy , ecstatic , overwhelmed , sad just to name a few. ''

I stood and began talking ,

'' Thank you so much Mrs. Sherman , this means a lot to me , you don't know how much.

'' So Mrs. Sherman can I ask a question , '' yes , of course .

''So what is the name of this school and where exactly in England is it located''?

''Now that's more than two questions Miss Hudson but I'll be glad to answer all and any other you may have,''

I bowed my head slightly embarrassed but hey I am so happy cause this is a dream come true.

'' So first of all the name of the school is Regent Royal High School and it is located in England specifically Wales. Now they offer almost all courses and they excel very well .

Also may I mention that this school is very influential and prestigious , you will meet people of different classes . There are Ministers , Ambassadors , Dukes and even some royals from other countries and states. But we gave this to you because you are one of our best students and I know that you will make us proud.''

''Mrs. Sherman I am really grateful and I promise not to disappoint you and the administration of this school , thank you so much.

''Okay , its alright , now after your exams a representative will be arriving from the school to come and talk to you about everything you need to know and any other question you have will be answered .

''So since I am done here , you should go back to class . its 2:00 pm so I think you have to go to homeroom now . Here take this note for your homeroom teacher so you don't get punished .''

''Okay ,I will be leaving now'' . Thank you once again .

''You're welcome Miss Anderson'', now run along'' . she said smiling.

So I was definitely going to high school , that much I knew . I ran off to homeroom while counting the minutes to get home and break the news to Karen . I was soo happy I didn't even know what to do but I just contained my joy till I got home.

Eventually the bell rang and even before the teacher left , I sprinted out of the class so fast Usain Bolt would be put to shame and I could care less . jumped on my bike after unlocking it and paddled so fast I even thought my legs would come off.

In less than the normal 45 minutes , I got home in 30 minutes , hey I was even surprised but apparently I had a sporty streak in me and I will have to make use of it. So as I got to the gate , I got down and opened it while holding the bike by its handles.

I rushed into the house after parking the bike next to Karen's car , I burst open the door and shouted

''Karen where are you !!!'' Karen , Karen .''

'' Lillian, yeah I am in the kitchen , what is it ? did something happen . tell me .

I laughed and laughed and began crying .

''Yes something happened alright and it's the best thing ever .

''Okay I think I like where this is going, so why don't you tell me over dinner , now go upstairs and take a shower then come down for dinner then we can talk.

''awww no fair , you are such a killjoy. I pouted. I was so happy to tell you.''

''I know dear, but go and take a shower cause you stink so badly '' she said and started laughing

I mean I wanted to be hurt but I just couldn't , it was impossible

I was so excited so I just laughed along with her and then went up the stairs to take a shower

In about 30 minutes I came down and joined her in the dining hall for supper . I sat at the while she placed the food on the table , she sat down across me and we began eating . We were having mashed potatoes and chicken , yeah it was one of my favorite dishes so I had two servings . I am an eater , Karen said it and I know it but I don't admit it .

''So what's the big news you have , '' She asked.

''Karen , I will be able to go to high school ''

''Lillian ,I know you really want to go to school but you know we don't have the means to afford your tuition '' she said

'' No , I mean I can now go Karen, finally ,'' I have been given a scholarship . ''

''Aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh , really? OMG , I cant believe this ''.

''I know me too , I cant believe it , I screamed ''

Now we were both shouting like 4 year olds . it was so silly .

But don't blame us we were so happy. it felt so good.

''so tell me the everything , the name of the school, where its located and I mean everything.

''Well there's not much I can tell you cause I don't know much but my Principal said a representative will be coming from there to come and catch me up on all I need to know before I am enrolled.

''But the school is Regent Royal High School and its located in Wales, England..

Then she became silent and i understood her. so this is where the sadness set in . i knew this was going to be difficult. ''so you are leaving me '', she said with a shaky voice .

I felt so bad , i didn't even think about her . oh i am so selfish .

''then i will decline it , i wont take it and as soon as i said she retorted,

''No way , no you wont '' . '' You are taking this scholarship whether you like it or not''

''This is your dream and i wont allow you to let it go '' .

No way missy, don't worry about me cause i knew you would have to leave me sooner or later but i guess its sooner. Oh child i am so happy for you , '' she said and sniffed which made me realize that i was also crying .

We were a crying mess. it was so funny.

''But i will be coming home every semester , so its not like i will be gone forever, Karen ''

'' Yeah i know kiddo, don't worry .

'' Hey we didn't finish dinner '' , it's probably gone cold now '' she laughed .

we stood up and cleared the table and went into the living room. i flopped on the couch while Karen joined me , we spoke for a few more hours and i got tired so i left to bed.

''Goodnight Karen'' ,

''night dear ''.

I got to my room and changed into my pajamas and slipped into bed , i turned on my laptop and opened my playlist that i usually played every night . I turned the volume down and pulled the covers over me.

I turned off the lights and began drifting to sleep not knowing what the future held in store for me.
