Meaning Of War

07th October 2033. Today marked One year since the war started. Captain Sohel Chowdhury was lying on the rubble of a broken-down house that once was crowded with the laughter of many people. He looked at the dark sky covered by the bog of war. He tried to remember when was the last time he looked up at the sky and saw the blue sky. He reached inside his heavy military vest and took up a small dirty picture. He looked at the picture. The picture showed him smiling along with two men and two women wearing the same combat suit as him. He caressed the picture with his right hand. The people in the picture were his squadmates, all of whom are dead today. He asked himself, "Why am I fighting? What am I fighting for? What was the reason that the war even had started?" He couldn't find the answers. He thought about the people that had started this war. Those demons hiding under human skin fueled the war. Why? Just so they could make some profit selling weapons and use the war as an excuse for their other objectives. He again asked himself, "Are the people he and his men were fighting even know about this?" He didn't know. He didn't want to know. He looked around the broken-down ghost town. He didn't want to believe that those people who bombarded this city without thinking about the innocent people did that with full knowledge of the situation. There were a few times he wanted to just end it all. But he couldn't. Not before he had freed this land from those brainwashed people. His friends didn't give their lives just so he could leave his duties and run away. A static comes from his headphones followed by someone's frantic voice, "Sir, They're back. They are attacking from north east. We don't have enough men. They've got tanks." Sohel gets up and replies through the comms, "Stand your ground. Don't give up. I'm coming." He picks up his rifle. His grip tightens around the rifle's grip. He becomes determined that he won't give up. Not until he drives away those people of his motherland. He looks up and whispers, "Look at me from above my friends. I didn't give up. I'll carry on your will" He runs towards the sounds of gunfire with determination in his face.
