Twelve

" Louise is the one who asked me to help you." Theyla told me. She had never really been my friend after all, and I was surprised that she had accepted so easily.

Louise and Rose were friends with her parents. They were the richest person in the city. She had everything she needed, and yet she never seemed to be happy.

I used to play with her when we were kids, I mean I used to play in my corner all by myself, and she would watch me and never come near me.

I had always admired her in secret, she was so good when she had a sword. She remained almost invincible, and even I would lose every time we fought.

And now she wanted to help me. I don't really mind, but I hope we can have a positive outcome. I certainly wouldn't want to disturb her training.

"When do we start?" I asked.

I think she goes to the same school as me. Today I think I saw her in the sword room during the visit. Her father must have enrolled her there because I was there.

Theyla looked at me with her piercing gaze, she held her chin as if she was thinking. Once she had an idea she sighed before finally answering my question.

"We'll start tomorrow at 10am." How can she offer me that kind of time when I have class at the same time?

I watch her, her body language tells me that she doesn't take any pleasure in teaching me, so I'd better succeed.

"I can't, I have class at that time." I replied, but her face remained as cold as ever as if she didn't care.

"Tomorrow is Tuesday, and I've taken the time to study your schedule. You will go to a forest and the teachers will determine your level. "

How could she know that. None of the teachers told us about it, but she knew it must be because of the influence of her parents.

"How could you know that?" I asked a little confused.

"Well, I know it from my father and I asked to be on the same team as you. I hate strangers."

She doesn't like people she doesn't know, but then why isn't she in my class?

"I wanted to be in the same class as you but I didn't know you were in the same school as me."

I see then. For me now it is time to go home I feel exhausted, I am hungry. I will eat and then go to bed.

"I'm going home," I say as I grab my bag and walk out of the room. I walk out of the building and get home in 5 minutes, I ran as fast as I could for it because it started to rain when I got out.

Once I got home I threw my bag on the ground and took off my shoes. I made myself something to eat and ate while watching TV alone. I then went up to my room to go to bed. I wonder what tomorrow holds for me.

The next morning I am woken up by a voice I know quite well. I even get pulled out of bed.

"Wake up Ava," she yells.

I turned my head, it was Theyla how she could have entered my house when I had locked the door. I sighed before getting up from the floor and looking at her a little annoyed.

"Hurry up and take a shower, don't make me wait any longer than this" she said and walked out of my room.

This habit she has of coming to people's houses without warning annoys me. I take my towel and go to the bathroom to shower with hot water, I get out of the shower and put on my uniform.

Once finished I take my school bag then leave to join Theyla who is in the living room. She seems to be a bit irritated, the uniform fits her really well and hers even has a skirt.

"You could have driven to class with your dad" I say as I grab a yoghurt drink from the fridge and give her one. The raspberry one is his favorite.

"Thanks, I'd rather walk there with you so let's go now." She opens her yoghurt drink and puts her straw in it.

We leave the house and I lock the door. The walk to the park is silent, she doesn't speak to me and I don't speak to her. When we arrive at the park Yuto, Mei and Ayaka are already there.

"Hurry up, we're late" Mei says as she approaches us, she doesn't seem to be very energetic today.

We hurried a bit until we arrived at the school, the atmosphere was much better because we all talked together, well not Theyla, but it was already better.

We arrived at the same time as the bell rang, but we noticed that there was a note on the gate. It said we had to go to the training camp.

We all go in together and when we get there all the first year students are there, there is our name written on a sheet. There are several groups of three on the sheets.

"All I have to say to you is that you go with your group of three and you have to go and find the stones that are indicated under your name" says a teacher with a microphone, and then he leaves us all alone.

I look at the sheet and in my team there are Theyla and Ayumi. I sigh, Ayumi will be more of a drag on our team than anything else. Theyla is already here, but I don't know where Ayumi is.

"Do you know who this Ayumi is?" Theyla asked me.

"Yes, I know her, she's in my class, but other than that, that's it" I answer, I don't want to talk about her anymore.

We walk around looking for Ayumi until she comes to meet us.

"I'm sorry but I didn't know where you were" she says a bit breathless, she looked like she had been running a bit.

Theyla doesn't answer her, she just takes the time to observe Ayumi before giving her the map with what we have to look for. We had to go look for a ruby.

"Well, we just have to go look for the ruby in a cave that's not far from here," I say before we start walking towards the cave.

Theyla had a sword with her and I had only my magic and physical strength for defense. We walked through the forest until we came face to face with enemies, but the only problem was they were two.

They had horns and wings, they were black, and they had an astronomical amount of magic coming out of they body, beating them was not going to be an easy task.

The demons attacked the three of us and in we fall in a decent cave, just what we were looking for. I land on my feet and when I turn around I see Theyla and Ayumi on the ground.

"Theyla take care of the demon and I'll go find the ruby." I took the time to look around the cave and there was a place with a ruby somewhere in there.

Theyla dodges the demon's punch after he attacks again. This opens up an opportunity for a counter-attack. At the same time I see the ruby.

Theyla tries to turn around, but misses and loses her balance. I hit the ore to try to recover the ruby that is inside. But the ore is able to roll out of its trajectory. The demon brandishes his fist towards Theyla.

The demon sends Theyla on the floor of the cave with a well-placed fist in the eye. Theyla gets up and staggers backwards before regaining her balance. She had lost her sword.

Theyla tries to get out of range. I take her sword and hit the demon. The demon tries to dodge. But I am far too fast for him and slice through his abdomen. The sword cuts through his flesh as if it wasn't there. The demon falls to his knees and collapses.

The second demon dodges Ayumi's blow and strikes back. Ayumi leaps back but is too slow. The demon slashes her leg. Ayumi falls backwards and twists. She hits the floor of the cave, face down.

Ayumi picks up the sword I just dropped to the ground. From the darkness of the caves, another demon appears. He raises his fist. He is accompanied by a wolf. The wolf looks hungry. And it's coming towards me.

Ayumi stands up and staggers backwards before finding her balance.The demon kicks her in the shin. But Ayumi doesn't move.

Ayumi rushes towards the demon and for the first time since the beginning of the fight she touches it and wounds it seriously. Now there is only one left.
