Eighteen

After what happened in the princess' room I never went home so quickly. I couldn't stop thinking about what had just happened.

The princess was so close to me, but you can't forget that she was drunk. I opened the door to my room and threw myself on the bed.

I didn't even bother to tell Rose that I had come in. This is absolutely not the time to get emotional, especially not for someone from the royal family.

She must surely see me as a pawn that she'll get rid of as soon as she doesn't need me anymore. I've been in my room for five minutes now and all I can think about is what happened.

I have to get my act together. The princess will probably never suit me, and she's been pretty cold to people since her father died. The fact that she is so downhearted reminds me how weak humans are emotionally.

I have no memory of my parents, well my real parents. I appreciate Rose and Louise but for me, they could never be my real parents. I don't intend to look for my biological parents either, it would be a waste of time. I don't know what the future holds, but I can't wait to grow up and see what will happen.

I fall asleep on this last thought.

The next morning I was woken up by Cookies meowing and scratching to tell me that I needed to turn off my alarm clock, usually she would have broken it but I put it higher up so she couldn't do that anymore.

I got up to turn off my alarm and then petted Cookies before grabbing a towel and heading to the bathroom. I take a shower and brush my teeth, taking a moment to look at my reflection in the mirror.

So the plan for now is to get closer to Ayumi and get some information out of her. I have training with Theyla this afternoon and I almost forgot. I'm probably going to suffer, but the training looks really complicated.

With that last thought I get out of the bathroom and get dressed in my uniform, put my hair back in place so that it's not so messy and go downstairs to get my breakfast.

"Hi Ava, have a good day," I say before placing a bowl of cereal on the table.

"Thanks you too" I say before sitting down on the table, I then eat the cereal, put my bowl in the dishwasher before giving Rose a final wave and leaving.

Once outside I take my time, I have to find a way to get closer to Ayumi without it being suspicious. It's only now that I realise it but Theyla didn't come looking for me.

Speaking of the wolf, there she is, running towards me. She looks out of breath as she reaches me. Still with her inexpressive face, she glares at me before clearing her throat.

"You could have waited for me," she said, and I was confused.

" Waiting for you but..." I didn't finish my sentence when she interrupted me.

" Usually you always wake up late and today you're on time. "

I'm often late, I never realized it and I don't often arrive early for fear of being caught by one of those fan clubs of mine.

"Sorry, next time I'll let you know if I leave home early," I say, scratching my head.

"You owe me an ice cream." she said before we continued walking to the school.

All the way there I kept thinking about what I should do and then I stopped and decided to ask Theyla, maybe she could help me.

"Theyla?" I ask her and she turns around.

"What?" I take a deep breath before asking her.

"If you were to approach someone to ask for information but they were avoiding you what would you do?" I ask her seriously.

"Well, I'd kidnap her and then lock her in a basement and force information out of her." She smiled at this answer, why did I even ask her when she doesn't love anyone but her family.

"Thank you for your help, but I don't think I would do that. " If I did, I might get killed for kidnapping a princess.

Once we get to the building we both get separated because we don't have the same class.

The bell rings and I head off to class once we are all seated a very energetic looking teacher enters the room he has long black hair and he is also wearing a samurai costume, he is earlier tall and looks barraged.

"I hope you are ready", he starts to shout.

"What kind of teacher is this again?" laughs Chloe.

"I don't know, he looks weird," I say and everyone starts to laugh.

"I heard you, the girl with the short black hair."

"Shit, he heard me and now he's looking at me" Eww

"I'm Mr. Hayato, I'm going to teach you how to use a sword, follow me we're changing rooms."

We all get up and follow the teacher until we get to a room with lots of swords and wooden mats.

"Get into groups of two and I want to see what you can do with the sword."

"Sir we are odd, there is someone who will be left alone"

"Yes, you're right, someone will be training with me."

He points at me.

"Why me?"

"Earlier you were making fun of me and it pissed me off so that's why and the first pairing started will be us so I'll give you a good lesson and your the one that got the biggest score on the first day, I want to knwo your worth".

"Fine," I sigh.

"Grab a sword and come join me on the mat".

(I shouldn't have said anything and the worst thing is that there are also students from other classes).

I get a wooden sword and then go to the carpet.

Teacher: ( I'll be able to humiliate her in front of everyone, what fun)

"When do we start?" I say.

"We start now and of course we are not allowed to use magic".

I hold my sword tight, it's not as heavy as the one grandma gave me and I get into position, ready to attack and defend as Theyla taught me.

"Good starting position but you're still going to lose," says the teacher.

He quickly approaches me and tries to attack but I quickly dodge and retaliate with a sword strike that hits him.

"She's really good" says a student and I see Yuto stress.

"The teacher gets beaten by a student" The students are impressed.

"That's pretty impressive, you have a good defence and a good attack but I wasn't at my best" says the teacher.

"No, I won and I refuse to do it again, you underestimated me".

"I propose a real fight this time with a real sword" (I won't let her humiliate me again).

"What's in it for me? "I say provocatively

"If you win, I'll give the whole class a 20." Interesting.

"And if I lose, what happens?

"You'll have to continue the class wearing a T-shirt that says I'm the best teacher and has a picture of me on it."

"Well, why not? "

"You're crazy to agree to that Ava," Yuto said.

"Don't worry and if I lose, it's no big deal."

"Well, let your sword appear"

"Uh, how do we do that?"

"Just think of the sword you want and it will appear or we will provide you with a sword, your choice".

I concentrate and think of the katana my grandmother gave me and I hold out my hand and the sword appears.

"Oh, it really did appear like magic." I feel silly after saying that ( like magic T^T )

"So you're ready."

"Yes I'm totally ready."

I get back into position and this time with the katana in my hand. I don't intend to draw it. This time the teacher attacks even faster and I can't dodge. Instead, I use my katana to parry the blow.

"Impressive, you managed to parry my blow, but will you manage to parry the next one?"

I use all my muscles when I hold this katana, it's really heavy, but I still manage to use it even though my movements are too slow then when I try to attack with my katana, I miss but it doesn't manage to hit me either then all of a sudden I have a surge of power, I don't know where it comes from it's like someone is helping me carry the katana and guiding me and I move twice as fast and just as I'm about to hit the teacher with my katana someone appears and blocks my attack with another sword and the sword breaks in two and the blow was so powerful it shook the whole building

"What are you doing here Louise, I could have won honestly, it was mean to interfere".

Louise hits me on the head and she looks at me angrily.

"What do you think, you still don't have control of that katana, you could have hurt or even killed your teacher without meaning to, look here!"

The teacher is still shaking, you can tell he was scared.

"Don't worry madam, everything is fine."

He approaches Louise and tries to seduce her.

"Are you single, madam?"

"I take it all back, you can kill him after all, Ava".

"Why are you being so mean to me?"

"No, I have a better solution sir, catch this" I say.

I throw the katana to him and he catches it but he ends up on the ground and the katana sinks into the ground.

Teacher :( How did she manage to carry that katana, it is extremely heavy even for me who is very strong)

I pick up the katana and the teacher stands up.

"Well, return this katana to the house and you will not be allowed to use it until you master it completely".

"Yes, I understand."

I make the katana disappear

"Are you free tonight, madam? " says the professor with a rose in his mouth, how could he have that?

"I'm married so leave me alone" Louise replies.

"Yes, leave her alone, she is my mother".

"I'm leaving, you'll see me at home".
