31 Ch. 29 - Garfield's little adventures

It's been a month since my human friend left me on a mission.

I was standing on top of a boulder, looking down on the 'friends' that I have made.

Squirrels, Birds, Deer, Orangutan, Boar, Fox, Gorilla, Raccoon, Bears, Wolves, and many other animals that Doffy told me about.

"Listen up! From now on, you all are my friends! You will be under my protection, and no one in this forest shall hurt you or your loved ones!" I yelled at them, making sure that they heard him, which I'm pretty sure they did.

"Umm...." A small squirrel raised his hand in shyness.

"You! What's your name?" I asked him, I needed to know their names before we could be true friends, after all, Doffy taught me that knowing the name of someone is the first step into making friends.

"Name? What's that." The squirrel asked timidly.

"You have no name? How about the others?" I asked and everyone shook their heads.

'This is bad, I can't be friends with them, If I don't know their names.' I contemplated inside my mind before a light bulb lit up above my head.

"You there! Your name shall be Garfield's Friend!" I pointed my claws at the squirrel, who timidly nodded her head.

"Good! And you, your name will be Garfield's Friend #2!"

"....Garfield's Friend #3!"

"....Garfield's Friend #4!"

"....Garfield's Friend #5!"

Soon, a few hours has passed, and the sun is setting down, I finally managed to name the last animal that I recently recruited, a cat.

".....Garfield's Friend #68!"

"Now, I have finally named all of you. All of us will be officially friends, from now on!" I smiled as the wolves howled in the dark sky while the others did their weird traditions to celebrate something.

'Looks like everything is going well! Doffy will definitely be proud of me.' I said to myself as I didn't notice that a smile has formed on my face.

"Well Well Well, look what do we have here. A bunch of foods." However, Garfield and his group of friends suddenly heard a voice containing a malicious message.

"Who? Grrrr." Garfield growled, as he was having his good time and someone just suddenly interrupted him.

When he turned around, he saw a group of Coyotes, however instead of a usual group of 5 to 6, there were atleast 40 to 50 coyotes surrounding them, as if they are some sort of Mafia Gang.

Meanwhile, the little animals like the rabbits and Squirrels stepped back in fright and fear, hoping that they won't be seen by the coyotes. While the bigger ones like the Apes and Elephants didn't backed away and firmly stood up.

Although they are outnumbered since the small animals backed away and won't join the fight, so there are atleast 25 animals left including Garfield, to fend off these Coyotes.

"What the fuck you guys want? Don't forget, this is my territory!" Garfield walked in the front as he growled at them.

His height towered over them, which made them back away a bit, but the Coyote in front, who was also the one who spoke earlier, didn't flinch in fear and growled back at Garfield.

"Where's your stupid human friend? He left you, didn't he? Heh, all humans are pathetic." The leader mocked Doflamingo as he chuckled.

"Take that back, you mongrel!" Garfield roared at them, which released some airwaves that blew the fur on the Coyote's body.

"Or what?" The leader didn't flinch once again and even stepped forward to face Garfield.

Garfield didn't spoke and just kept staring at the Coyote's eye, which seems to irritate him and caused him to attack Garfield first!

"Take this!" The coyote then tried to bite Garfield's face but Garfield, who has been honed and trained by Doflamingo like a mad man, has long enhanced his instincts and dodged the Coyote's bite.

"So you want war? Then, I'll give you war!" Garfield smirked. He has long wanted to tear this Coyote's face but he always remembered that Doflamingo told him to make friends with the other animals in the forest, so there should be no violence coming out from him.

However, before this, he also remembered a certain phrase from Doflamingo.

'Don't do unto others what you don't want done unto you.' and since the Coyote was the first one to attack him, then it is only natural that he defended himself.

"Roarrrr!!" Without even doing anything but roar, he ahs already caused fear among their ranks, which caused some of the to back away in fear while the others even fled from the scene.

"What? You fuckers! Come back!" When the leader of the Coyote's saw this, he was dumbfounded.

It took him 5 painstaking months just to gather all this Coyote's under him, to exact revenge on Garfield and Doflamingo for killing their men, a year ago, and when he thought that he'd finally exact his revenge, an unexpected thing happened and just Garfield's roar is enough to destroy the army that he built.

"I won't accept this!" However, despite having lower numbers now, the coyote leader was still confident on killing Garfield, so he ordered them to surround the both of them, to make sure the other animals under Garfield won't interfere.

"You and me. Just the two of us." The coyote leader said as he started encircling Garfield, staring at him as if he was the prey.

"Just you? Even thousands of you is not enough to defeat me!" Garfield felt annoyed at being underestimated by a mere coyote, so he decided to teach him a lesson, right in front of everyone, so he could also show his friends that he could protect them from harm.

"What are you circling me for? What, are you a coward?" Garfield used a strategy called 'Taunt the enemy'. A strategy that Doflamingo taught him. By taunting the enemy, it will blind your enemy in rage and might cause him to lose his cool and display a bunch of mistakes that Garfield could take advantage of.

"What did you say? You bastard!" Like what he was taught, the coyote was indeed blinded by rage and rushed up to him, tending to finish the fight as soon as possible and came out as the victor.

Unfortunately for him, Garfield isn't a normal Lion. He was taught and trained by Doflamingo for years, that Garfield could probably even take on 3 other lions like himself and come out as the victor.

"Ruff!!" Unlike Garfield's roar earlier, the Coyote's roar or bark was like a child's whisper which almost caused Garfield to lose his cool and just laugh on the spot.

Fortunately he didn't and he managed to dodged the Coyote's claw and came back at him with a bite on his shoulder that would definitely scar him for the rest of his life.

*Scrunch!*

Even the bones on his shoulders weren't spared and was directly crushed by Garfield's biting force.

"Raarrrrgghhh!"

The coyote fell on the ground in pain as the other Coyotes was attempting to help him, but Garfield's friends decided to take this chance to take the high ground.

This time, it was the coyotes who was surrounded by them, just the sight of bears, wolves, apes and other dangerous animals circling the coyotes are enough to piss even a veteran soldier off.

"Get out of here! From now on, I'll be the new king of the forest, now, either you surrender or die under my claws!" Garfield threatened as he enlarged his claws and putting them close to the leader's neck.

"I-I surrender." Under the watch of death nearing him, the leader obviously valued his life much more than his stupid pride and stupid revenge.

"Good! Then, you'll be Garfield's Friend #69!" Garfield was happy at the sight of a new friend, not to mention, since he has surrendered, naturally, the other Coyotes that he brought with him will also surrender to him and become his friends.

Soon, it took him another day to name a bunch of coyotes before deciding on what to do to accomplish his mission.

He knew that these weren't enough, if he could he would have brought every kind of animals under him.

"Sigh, this is gonna be a long heck of a year." The named lion sighed and looked at the direction of where his friends are making their own homes.

The birds were making a nest on the trees, some squirrels were digging on the ground to build a place where they could sleep and store their food.

As for Garfield? He doesn't need a home, Doflamingo is his home, so he could sleep anywhere here and anytime as long as he want.

***

Soon, before Garfield knew it, a year has finally passed, and it was time for Doflamingo to fullfil his promise to him that he'll come back.

He has gathered almost thousands animals under him, he even built his own make-shift kingdom where he and his friends lived.

He has already told everyone about Doflamingo and that he'd give them a home where they are safe without the sense of fear on their surroundings, wondering whether they'd be the next prey of the predators.

Free food, safe environment and being able to interact with humans without being harmed sounds like a dream come true.

Just so you know, some animals longed for a human affection, a human that wouldn't hurt them nor throw stones at them, but to care for them.

They all had a share of experience with a human and most of them weren't that good.

For example, Garfield's Friend #367, which is a cat that was abandoned by her owners just because he ate their pet, gold fish.

"Soon, I would see him again. I wonder when you will be back, Doffy." Garfield thought to himself as he finally slept and waited for Doflamingo's arrival.
