25 Chapter 25

the view of New York from a helicopter truly was amazing. was it unnecessary? yes, I could have just rode in a transport, but the new location had a landing pad, and a landing pad without a helicopter is just sad.

the new site was actually quite a bit outside New York. This was to prevent damage to the local populace in case of a breach but also to prevent us from being broken into during the Chitari invasion later. not to mention the extra room and ability to actually deploy aircraft and drones.

as we arrived at the mansion, most of which was still under construction, the Overseer came out and walked across the lawn. "Sir, the launch pad is ready, the cube is installed, and Jones has located Pierce. Jones is also standing by with a team of four and is ready for deployment. everything is ready, just waiting on your word." he said

before I could answer, there came the sound of crashing from the mansion. At first, I was confused because no one reacted except for a small sigh of exasperation from the Overseer.

before I could ask any questions, the sound of screaming could be heard, and from one of the unfinished second story windows came, Dr. Bright with an eyepatch, an oversized pirate hat he got from 343 knows where, and the small form of SCP-999 riding on his shoulder came hurtling out with a rope in one hand and what appeared to be a scimitar in the other.

he swung along the rope, screaming and laughing as he did so. unfortunately, one of the construction workers walked onto the scaffolding, causing them to collide. all three tumbled across the grass, Bright nearly impaling himself upon his sword before he lay still on the ground, the faint sound of laughter barely audible between his wheezing while quiet coos rang from 999. the construction worker, being none too pleased, simply picked up his hard hat and walked back into the building with a scowl.

Jack sprang to his feet, grabbed his fallen cutlass, and ran screaming back into the building with 999 still sitting on his shoulder.

the Overseer turned to me with a pleading look on his face. unable to think of an answer, I simply stated, "You're the Overseer. you got this" and then walked to the launch pad

as I arrived at the launch pad, Jones and the new squad he had selected met me there, with Jones immediately taking his position behind me as if he had always been there. "Sir, why don't we use the nail immediately. why wait until it's in space on the satellite? " Jones asked

that's right, setup on the platform undergoing final preparations was the first of hopefully many satellites that would be under the sole control of the foundation." Because Jones, we're going to work off of Fury's paranoia, he's so paranoid I believe he still plans to exploit us somehow but knowing that I've hacked Sheild before I doubt he has digital copies of his plans. so to thwart his plans we are going to remove Pierce right from under his nose, thus removing a head of Hydra and intimidating shield and whoever maybe watching into leaving us alone by convincing them we can easily remove them at any time with no effort or chance for resistance."

Jones seemed satisfied with that answer as with a simple nod. He went back to scanning everyone and everything near to see if it was a threat, with not even other System-Staff being spared his gaze.

[ That's because System-generated staff do not know they are system produced nor that others around them are False Souls. each staff member has generated memories based on an alternate Foundation timeline that no longer exists. The memories have been altered to show the collapse of their foundation and reality and their eventual arrival at this Foundation.

Each staff members memories become stronger with them, solidifieng their existence and personality, that's why staff must be level 3 or higher to be relocated because until that point they are not considered real by this Reality and rely on the support of a Site or Compound to exist, should they leave before being level 3 they would be forced out of existence by the universe itself.

as they level, they absorb Humes from the air becoming more and more real, thus establishing their independent existence]

oh, OK, I don't really know how to react to the fact that if a lower level staff left, they would just stop existing.

"Sir, we've successfully managed to arrange a meeting between Fury and Pierce at the designated location," one of the techs informed me

"Should we go, sir?" asked Jones

"Are you kidding Jones? do I look like the head of a fearsome foundation in these street clothes?" I asked."At least let me get properly dressed first"
