1 Chapter 1

The loud and incessant beeping sound of the alarm clock disturbed my sleep, so I slapped it straight off the desk with a quiet but angry huf, silencing it as it fell to the floor. Turning around in my silky black sheets I tried to hold onto the lingering pangs of sleep, however, the alarm clock had succeeded in thoroughly waking me up. Sitting up, I rubbed my puffy eyes and climbed out of bed heading for the walk-in closet. I grabbed a black sports bra, some black sweatpants, my black high tops and a black and gold towel. If you couldn't tell already my favourite colour is black and much like my black closet and towel, the design and decor of my house was mostly black with the exception of highlight colours in each room. Walking into my obsidian marbled bathroom with gold flecks I quickly ran the shower and got in when it was hot enough to make it seem as if my skin was burning. I was a tall 5 ft 9" girl with copper skin and long raven hair, I had both of my parents eyes with my left eye being a piercing ashen silver and my right eye being a vibrant electric purple. Finishing up with my shower I donned my clothes and wrapped my dripping wet hair in a towel exiting the bathroom in the process. Making my way to the dresser on the far side of my bedroom I pulled out the stool and sat on it. I quickly dried and straightened my waist length hair and styled it half up, half down. I wasn't one for much make-up so I put on some cherry lip-gloss and light mascara. Once I was done with my morning routine I made my way downstairs, grabbed a bag and filled it with a towel, two bottles of water, my ipod and some earphones I found lying on my kitchen counter.

It was late morning when I finally made it out of the small penthouse I owned in a field a little further away from the pack house than most of the other pack members. Finally, pulling up to the pack house I got off of my onyx and silver motorbike, a Yamaha YZF-R1 and made my way to the pack house basement where the gym was located. Much to my dismay there were two other people in there, the pack slut Trisha and her latest conquest, our Alpha Maldon. While they both hated me like the rest of the pack I was long past the point of caring what anyone else thought. Slipping my earphones on, I got out my ipod and blasted Eminem while I started with my two hour workout, unlike the other pack members I didn't need to spend all day training and working out as I was a tribrid so anything to do with fighting came to me with more ease. My parents named me Maven, meaning expert, and while they may not have known I was a tribrid straight after my birth it was a fitting name as I tended to excel in most things I did. My only problem was my powers, I was seventeen and my powers seemed to be growing exponentially as I got older. Currently I have super speed, enhanced hearing, regeneration, illusion magic and telekinesis. I never told anyone about being a hybrid, for safety's sake my parents and I had thought it prudent to keep that information to ourselves, not only because the whole pack hated me but also because tribrids were considered dangerous or useful. We were always hunted for someone's agenda and I refused to end up dead or under someone else's bidding just because I was different and stronger. But that's enough about that for now it's 3pm and I was in great need of lunch.

Packing up my stuff and exiting the gym I quickly left the packhouse got on my motorbike and went to the cafe furthest away from both the packhouse and the pack, a little place at the edge of town called Lakeview Café and much like its name it really did have a view of the lake. Going to my usual spot at the back of the second floor, I sat next to the floor to ceiling windows and looked out. It was the best spot to sit in as you could see over the forest tree line where a small lake glistened in the sunlight. It always looked so peaceful that it was calming and if you looked further you could see past the clearing in the treeline the lake made and past the cluster of trees beyond the lake to the highway towards human civilization. But I guess this view was a view only appreciated by some as most were unable to see as far as me.

While gazing out the window I started to feel eyes on me, and for a while I ignored it however, when it got annoying I turned and looked straight at them. It was a man, he stood tall at what I would say was 6ft 5 in height. He had stark white hair and piercing oceanic eyes with flecks of blood red bleeding out of his pupils and decorating his iris. He had full pouty lips and no facial hair. As I slowly drank in his looks I brought my eyes to his, no one said anything and the silence coupled with this tingly feeling I was experiencing as I stared into his eyes had me feeling drawn to him. Who was he?.... Suddenly I heard a voice in my head, much like a mind link but also unlike one….MATE…..MATE…..MATE...
