CLARA'S POV
Unwelcomed heat rushed through my body and nearly doubled me over. Temper and desire warred throughout. He was not playing games. I do not need to read him to know he meant his words. My eyes darted around the large kitchen, searching for escape from the intimidating alpha male before me. There was none.
I had no words to combat this effect on my senses—to combat him. Defiance was my only defense, so I tilted my lips in a small smile that was part sweet and pure sass.
"So be it," he growled in immediate reaction. One long step closed the distance between us before he ducked and tossed me over a broad male shoulder. The jarring impact took my breath as he spun around and headed down the hall. My breath came back in a rush as I struggled over his shoulder, my clenched hands beating on the wide expanse of his hard back.
"Knock it off." A large male hand smacked my ass. Real hard.
