8 Chapter 8

After seeing Celeste, Bane's mood had somehow improved quite a far amount by the time he had to turn in his report and deal with the typical complaining and exasperation of the person who was technically his boss. He hated the fact that Bane always turned his reports in at the last minute because it gave him hardly any time to review it before he would have to take it to the board meeting and give an update about how the business was fairing.

The man was in his late fifties. He was mostly bald with a terrible combover that no one would dare comment on. He had a round face which matched his slightly overweight figure. His eyes were always drawn in a hard yet solemn that way made him look like a rather unpleasant person when matched with the scowl that often adorned his face. Consistent stress times high blood pressure caused his face to always be a shade of red, whether it was darker or lighter depended on his mood and what was bothering him.

"I thought that we talked about this last week and agreed and that you would be turning your reports in sooner that you have been?" The man sighed as Bane sat in his office, leaning back with his legs crossed as though there wasn't a problem in the world that could bother him.

"I do try, but as I have told you before, my my schedule is ever changing and I have to do things based up on the level of importance and how much money I'm being paid." The werewolf replied with a shrug.

"I may not get them turned in by the time that you desire, but I have never missed a deadline yet, have I, Roger?" he asked the other man who's scowl deepened when he said this.

"You've never been late no," He conceded with a small pause before continuing.

"But that problem here is that I need time to review this and while you do get them to me and your work is impressive, I need more time than this. If it keeps up like this, I'm going to have to let you go to find someone else who can work within the timeframe I need." Roger sighed at the end as he pinched the bridge of his nose. The level of stress that he was already dealing with this week was particularly high.

"Ho? You can if you so desire, there are a number of other clients who would be happy to work with me. I'm not sure confident though that you would be able to find someone to replace me that does as good of a job or maintains a strict work ethic as I do." He had a smirk on his face as he finished speaking already knowing that he had the other over a barrel.

Bane had worked particularly hard on his reputation and work abilities within the business analytic sector so that he would become a rather desirable person that wouldn't be easy to replace because of how well he did his job. Which is one of the reasons why most people wanted to work with him but weren't so quick to drop him even if he wasn't as efficient with time management as they wanted him to be.

"We don't have to talk about that if you sort out your time management issues next week and get me what I need on time." Roger replied back sharply. Of course, his tone that usually worked on people did nothing to the alpha. He was the one who controlled people, not the other way around.

"If my schedule allows me to accommodate your needs, I will be certain to get it done as early as possible." Bane simply replied. He wasn't about to give the other what he wanted just because he thought that he could boss the werewolf around with a threat he wasn't even going to follow through.

"Now, if you don't need me for anything else and I didn't forget anything, it is time for me to take my leave so I can take care of my next appointment." Bane told the older man as he got ready to stand up and leave.

"I'm serious Bane. If you don't get whatever you have going on sorted out, I will blacklist you from working on this company ever again." Roger warned, the look in his eyes told the other that he wasn't joking when he said this.

"You might think you hold a lot of power because your skills, but there are even places and people with power that you can't even imagine touching that with the right word would put you out of business if you caused problems." Bane paused for a second after he heard what the other said before he turned back around to face him.

The smile that was on his face was perhaps the most menacing thing that the other had seen, to the point that actually sat further back in his chair as Bane stalked over to the desk that he was standing up against it.

"I would be careful with the threats you make Roger. Especially when you don't quite know who you're messing with and what they're capable of. You might not like what happens if you do that." The dark promise and threat in the werewolf's voice left the other mutely staring at him not sure what to say in response to this.

"Again though, I don't think that this is a discussion that we really need to be having right now because I know that the person I work for isn't that much of a fool to make such mistakes as doing something this consequences that he wouldn't like or understand." Bane commented before he turned to leave, the threatening aura that had been surrounding him had completely disappeared and was replaced with an unusual calmness that was perhaps more intimidating.

Roger only felt like he could breath after the other had left the room. He wasn't quite certain how to respond to what happened but in the back of his mind, he knew that the other had no right to speak into him in such a way since he was the one who hired him. There had to be something that he could do about that despite the threat the other made to him. But what?
