18 Chapter 18

Celeste's mood didn't improve once she was outside. There were less people looking at her, that was true. However, she temper was rekindled when she realized what all the trouble must've been about.

She came to the conclusion that it had something to do with the photo Jen sent her. If it was floating all over social media, of course people would see it and be curious about it consider moderate level of fame Bane seemed to have.

Why was it that ever since she had met she had encountered nothing but trouble? Did it have something to do with whatever the curse he had was?

Whatever the case was, Celeste knew that she was going to have to have a discussion with him at some point in time about leaving her alone so that trouble would stop following her everywhere.

Plus, if he really did have a fiance or whatever that crazy woman was, she wanted to put her foot down on the fact that she knew and wasn't interested in creating the wrong impression with someone who was already taken.

The more Celeste thought everything, the more her foot steps slowed down as she got closer to her apartment until her feet were making a soft tack, tack, tack sound as she slowly walked to her apartment.

She remembered at that moment that the crazy person had said something about 'mate' as well mixed in with her vicious ramble.

Thinking about that, did it mean that she was like Bane? She didn't exactly want to find the answer to this question. However, if it was true. she would be a better fit for Celeste.

Maybe that would get him to leave her alone.

________

Bane was stuck in an area of being greatly annoyed and peevish at the same time.

It had been his day off to spend with the pack since he wouldn't be able to come back that weekend, but his dream of being able to rest was quickly shattered by the picture that was sent on his phone via a friend on social media.

It wasn't a very good picture and because he was outside in the sun, it was harder for him to get a good look at the blurry figures in the photo.

He carefully scrolled through his phone, making sure that he wouldn't scratch the screen. He tracked down the website that the photo had come from. From everything that he saw, he felt his mood going further down hill.

Who had thought that it would be acceptable to post a picture of him looking at Celeste like that online? Didn't anyone understand how to mind their own business?

Also, why was it so hard to be a successful human without attracting so much attention? He didn't understand why people were so obsessed just because he had a good reputation and money.

He was rather enjoying the sun in his werewolf form since it was a nice day outside and he knew that he didn't need to worry about any humans spotting him lounging.

He had briefly considered asking Aster to take care of the matter, but changed his mind as he knew even that one wouldn't be able to handle what needed to be done.

"Troublesome humans." he grumbled under his breathe as he laid back on the grass again.

Some of the other pack members had been around, but most avoided him when he came back due to his generally quickly temper and sour mood.

Recently though, some had taken notice of the fact that he seemed to be in a better mood than he usually was. Only a handful knew the real reason why, the rest could only guess why their alpha seemed oddly happy.

Bane had requested that no one mention anything about him finding his mate to the rest of the pack. Since he hadn't fully decided what he wanted to do about her, he didn't want the word spreading around too much.

Though, the picture may have already dealt with that concern for him whether he liked it or not.

He rolled over and buried his muzzle in his furry arms. His wolf side was more concerned about the apparent trouble that his action and behavior had caused the little human. That hadn't been his intention.

He had just hoped that if he openly showed his affection for her and how much he liked her that it might get her to warm up to him more.

Instead, some annoying human thought that they were being clever posting it online and had to make matters worse by. He wasn't even sure how to deal with her.

He would consider killing something if he didn't think it would start a war. Killing because she was too damn annoying to deal with anymore wouldn't be considered an acceptable reason.

Was there something instead then that he could to make it up to Celeste?

The answer from her would've probably been to leave her alone, but that wasn't an option for him.

They might have only met a few times, Bane was already addicted to Celeste's scent and he knew that it was only going to get worse as they got closer to the full moon. If his wolf side couldn't handle being away from her evening one day at this point, he was almost certain he would want to be glued to the other's side all day.

By then, he was going to have to come up with a decision as to what he wanted to do. Otherwise he would be stuck in the exact same limbo he had been this month.

So long as he had any say in the matter, though it might have been an argument with his human side, he didn't see it as an option to give up the other even if the world he lived in wasn't perfect or suitable.

He had more than enough strength and numbers to protect her and that was what mattered to him.

That would end up being tomorrow's worries, it was late in the day anyways and he wanted to be able to enjoy the last few hours of sun before everyone would be getting ready for the hunt.
