16 Chapter 16

Bane didn't bother criticizing his wolf self after he had left the coffee shop and was sitting back inside the car. He had taken his coffee with him because it was too good to leave behind even if he was in a foul mood.

He knew that it was pointless to berate his other half. He was bound by instinct and not reason. He wanted to be around the little human who was his mate. The Moon Goddess had brought them together for some reason and that was something that he had no control over.

What happened at the coffee shop however was something that couldn't continue. It created to big of a risk for himself and for Celeste. If the news traveled too far, there were people he knew who would want to get ahold of the girl to get to him, that was something that he couldn't allow.

Even if his human side cared not for her, his wolf's desire to protect her if anything happened could lead to irrational and dangerous situations. There had to be some way that he could reason with the other creature and come to some kind of understanding.

He glanced back to the inside of the coffee shop, he could see Celeste every now and again around the 'open' sign and promotion that covered most of the door. Compared to how she interreacted with him, she was talking so easily with the other girls she worked with and even the customers who were complete strangers. This somehow made him feel a sense of jealousy that those other humans were getting more of a reaction out of the little human than he had been able to.

The alpha grumbled under his breath at this, trying to push the feeling away. He wanted to push it onto the fault of his wolf, but there was a small part of him that couldn't tell which side these feelings were coming from.

Either way, he couldn't entertain them more than he already had. Not at this point in time at least. He had far too many other important matters to be getting caught up with some little human who didn't even seem interested in wanting to have anything to do with him.

Starting up his car, he knew that it was time for him to leave before he ended up walking back into the coffee shop and saying something he might regret. The regret would only come from the fact that he didn't want all the other people who were around to see him break the persona he had created any more than he already had.

He had hardly pulled out from the parking lot before his phone had started to ring. He couldn't stand the bland ringtone generic ringtone that every phone was equipped with. He couldn't be bothered though with figuring out how to change it to something else.

"What is it?" He grumbled when he answered the phone, making sure that it was hooked up to the Bluetooth in the car so that he didn't have to worry about where his phone was positioned to hear whoever had called.

"Is that really any way to answer a call from your own brother?" Crescent's voice echoed through the car. Though he was joking, his voice didn't hold the same joking tone it usually did whenever the Alpha answered in a bad mood.

"What's wrong?" Bane asked, checking to make sure no cars were coming before he turned left. The last thing that he wanted to deal with right now was being pulled over by the police because he was speeding or not following the right directions of the road.

"The usual you know." The omega with a pause before he sighed.

"People nosing around where they shouldn't be and pack members getting annoyed. I'm being petitioned to asked if there isn't something that you can't do to get them stop." He explained. He didn't really think that it was that big of the deal, but other members within the pack weren't happy about it.

"Hmm, have they actually done anything noteworthy that would make them worth my time yet?" Bane asked not really sounding interested in the matter.

He wanted to be able to go and visit his club and not have to spend another night cleaning up a mess that wasn't worth his time.

"That would probably be a question that you would need to ask Aster or Silver about. You know because I'm just the lowly omega doctor around here who happens to be the brother of the Alpha that pack members come to me."

"Because they knew I won't go after you the same way I would them for wasting my time." Bane snorted as he said this. There were few of his pack members that would dare to come directly to him about anything unless it was an emergency. He may have been Alpha, but he preferred to leave matters to his Beta so that he had more time to run things outside of the pack.

"Something like that. Or maybe they think that because you're my brother you would be more likely to fulfill the request if it is coming from me then if it was coming from them." Crescent replied. The Alpha could hear sounds coming from the background that indicated the other was probably leaving the hospital.

"Tell me then if they want me to do anything about this, they need to provide me with a good reason and evidence that something needs to be done." Bane said after as short pause. He glared at the red light while tapping his pointer fingers against the steering will in impatience.

"Also, let them know if they try to come to you again for a problem instead of coming to me directly about it that there will be problems." The younger brother confirmed that he would inform them of such. He got ready to say farewell but paused when he remembered that there was something else that ha had wanted to talk with his brother about.

"Have you decided what to do about that mate of yours yet? I know that I told you that you shouldn't push her into things too quickly, but don't forget that you only have until the next full moon to decide what you're going to do before you'll be stuck waiting for another thirty days before you can do anything." This was something that Bane hadn't wanted to be remind of at the current moment in time.

"I know that. I haven't made up my mind no, but I think we can both agree the only option is to not do anything." Bane replied before he hung up not waiting to hear what his younger brother had to say in response to this.

His human side had already made up his mind about what the best option would be, now he just had to find a way to get the daft wolf of his to understand the decision that he was making.
