1 Life and Death

Derrick had a tough childhood, with his father being a member of a mob family in Chicago, but against all odds, he had kept his hands clean and finally left the city, attending college at UCLA and meeting a young woman named Nessa, who he subsequently married.

While they originally intended to wait until they graduated to have a child, one broken condom later and they found suddenly found that they were to be parents at nineteen.

Even if they were not planning to have a child yet, neither of them wanted to have an abortion. For three years, they were doting parents, treating their daughter like she was their whole world, but finally derrick's past came back to rear it's ugly head.

His wife and daughter were abducted, and the kidnappers demanded his cooperation to kill the rest of his mob family. he tried going to the police, and filed a report, but that just led to his wife's head being dropped at his doorstep in a box, with a note stating that if he didn't do as they asked then his two-year old little girls head would be cut off and sent to him next.

Understandably, Derrick was devastated, fearing that his daughter would be killed, so he could only do as they demanded, flying to Chicago to murder his parents and his two brothers.

He did as they demanded, but simultaneously he investigated to figure out who had abducted and killed his beloved Nessa and who was still holding his little girl captive. After he had killed his parents and his two brothers, the kidnappers released released his daughter back in Los Angeles.

He did, at least, figure out who had forced his hand by taking his wife and daughter, and he brought his daughter to his wife's parents before going on a killing spree to eradicate the mob family that had master-minded everything..

In three days, he had killed 73 members of that family, and unfortunately three innocent bystanders died during his little crusade. Two were killed by his intended targets, while the third, a two-year old boy, was killed by one of his own bullets that had ricocheted and hit him in his little head.

Derrick, naturally, was devastated when he eventually learned what he'd done. He argued in court after his arrest that he had lost faith in the system after his wife was killed and he snapped, because he knew someone in the police department had reported to the kidnappers about him going to the cops and had gotten his wife killed, but the Jury just saw him as a monster that killed a two-year old baby, and found him guilty on all charges and recommended the Death Penalty.

Thankfully, Derrick had earned enough money legitimately to provide for his little girls future, and his Nessa's parents were there to take care of her, and were told to only tell her bout her daddy only when she was old enough to understand.

He was sentenced to the Death Penalty officially in April of 2021.

In his younger years, as he tried to keep his hands clean, Derrick had been a shut-in and an otaku that hid from the world, but once he went to college and married Nessa, he'd stopped following anime and his main guilty pleasure had become playing on his Nintendo Switch.

He hadn't spent a lot of time on it, between working towards his degree, his job, and of course being there for his wife and daughter, it had taken him a very long time to completely finish his favorite game, which had been Xenoblade Chronicles 2. He had just received the satisfaction of completing absolutely everything in the game and maxing out every blade and character, before his life had descended into this madness.

With his daughter placed with her grandparents, Derrick studied law and fought tooth and nail to overturn his Death sentence with all his might, but after nearly nine years of fighting as hard as he could to live, his final appeal was dismissed and the sentence was carried out on December 31st 2029.
