19 The Maid Princess

[Updated] [Rewritten]

Lin Tian observed the examinees taking the Hundred Swords Sect test with a sense of superiority, inwardly mocking those who were happy after passing the first test.

"Fools," he sneered to himself. "I am the most talented one here. Even Ye Fu's talent from the Ye Family is lower than mine."

His attention was drawn to the next examinee's results, and he sneered at the announcement of Xu Bao's failure.

"What a loser," he scoffed. "Why did you even bother coming to the test with that level of cultivation? This is what you get with such low talent."

The crowd joined in with insults and curses towards Xu Bao, a handsome man who lacked a strong heart. As he stepped down from the stage, he was met by his sister, who tried to console him.

"I failed the test, sister," Xu Bao said, his voice filled with sadness and reluctance.

"Don't be sad," his sister replied, trying to comfort him. "You'll have another chance."

But her words did little to ease Xu Bao's disappointment.

Meanwhile, Lin Tian continued to observe the scene from afar, his sense of superiority growing with each passing moment.

"But that man is lucky to have such a beautiful sister," he thought to himself.

"I think I know them. Aren't they the thugs I hired to beat up that boy yesterday?" he wondered, recognizing their faces.

Lin Tian felt a sense of satisfaction in his own intelligence as he confirmed their identities, already planning how he could use this information to his advantage.

"Tell them to meet me after the exam ends," he ordered his guards. "I will reward them for yesterday's work," he added with an evil smile.

As Xu Bao's sister stepped onto the stage to take the test, Lin Tian continued to observe, his mind already occupied with thoughts of how he could use his newfound knowledge to his advantage. {I wonder how should I reward her...?}

"Xu Luli, Age: 16. Cultivation: Spirit Disciple Stage 1st level." Xu Luli passed the test barely.

"I passed the test with his help. While he can't…" She muttered to herself after she completed the test.

Then she also stepped down near Xu Bao. She was his sister. And they were the thugs or rescuers of Huan more precisely.

Xu Luli was the woman who Huan thought was an Angel. While Xu Bao was the most handsome man of the two.

The scarface man was not here right now, he was dealing with the 'important' stuff according to himself.

They were called men and women because they have reached adulthood. It was a natural thing as 16 years old age was the sign of reaching adulthood. So  people started to take the test one after another again…

"He Xing, Age: 15. Cultivation: Spirit Body Stage 9th level. Pass!"

"Huo Li, Age: 16. Cultivation: Spirit Disciple Stage 1st level. Pass!"

"Chang Xue, Age: 13. Cultivation: Spirit Body 7th level. Pass!"

*

*

"Xia Yue, Age: 14. Cultivation: Spirit Body Stage 10th level. Pass!"

* * * * *

"Whoaa!"

"Isn't she the illegitimate child of the emperor?"

"Yes, she is."

"What is she doing here?"

"Don't she have the resources and everything on the capital? On her family."

"Idiot, don't you know?"

"What?"

"She is the illegitimate child!"

"Ooh. Now I get it."

"Yes, because she is not a real royalty she didn't get resources from her family."

"And also, she is… well, she has the worst talent among the royalty."

"Don't you know what they call her?"

"Yeah... The Main Princess."

People were talking about Xia Yue who just now completed the test.

As people said, she was the illegitimate child of the current emperor of the Fire Dragon Empire.

She was bullied by her brothers and sister in the Royal Family from her birth. They were always calling her "Child of a Maid" or  "The Maid Princess".

Her mother was a maid that was working at the Castle. But she was gorgeous and had a charming appearance. Because of that, The Emperor fell in love with her and …. Everyone knows what happened after that.

Xia Yue was born.

But her mother got older very fast after some time because she didn't have a talent for cultivation. She was able to get to Spirit Disciple Stage 9th level after a lot of hardships.

After some time passed she aged and lost her beauty. As a result, she lost her value for The Emperor. So she was tossed aside with her child.

After 3 years of living with her mother, Xia Yue was left only by herself. Her mother died when she was 7 years old.

So her life got worse after that. There was no one to protect her from the bullying.

She came to the Hundred Swords Sect to escape all of that.

She believed with hard work she could become someone that is not dependent on her family name.

She vowed to change her name when she got her revenge.

Well, she would get all of that but not in this life.

If you don't appreciate the chance you get, another opportunity may not come again.

As the test continued, many talented examinees appeared, but there were also many who failed the test. After a significant amount of time had passed, the test began to wind down.

"Luo Yue, Age: 13. Cultivation: Spirit Body Stage 8th level. Pass!" announced the elder in charge of the test.

This was the last examinee to complete the test, and the elder asked if there was anyone left.

"Has everyone completed the test?" he asked, but no one responded.

Xu Luli and Xu Bao began to feel anxious, wondering why Huan and the scar-faced man had not yet arrived.

"Why haven't they come?" Xu Luli asked.

"I don't know, sister," replied Xu Bao. "Maybe the boy hasn't woken up yet."

"That could be true," agreed Xu Luli.

They continued to wait for the arrival of Huan and the scar-faced man while the two of them were off having a 'great' time.

Somewhere in an alley.

There was a figure that was accompanying a boy.

The man was walking slowly without a care in the world.

But one person didn't like this even one bit.

That was the boy beside the man.

The boy was urging the man to walk faster with his countless pleas.

"Hey, brother! Can't you walk faster?"

"We will be late for the exam if you walk at this rate!"

The boy was hoping the man in front of him could walk faster.

"Don't worry! We will be there in a minute."

The man tried to reassure the boy who was eager to run for the exam.

"You said that an hour before too!"

The boy exclaimed after hearing the man.

"…"

"Why are you quiet?"

The boy asked.

The man looked at the boy and spoke in a serious tone.

"Hey, kid. Do you think I'm playing with you?"

As the boy was going to nod his head he suddenly felt a sudden chill. He knew if he said yes he won't be going to the exam today. Because he saw the look in the man's eyes.

"No-o!" The boy spoke timidly.

"Yes, that is right. I am not playing with you."

"It takes a lot of time because the exam place is really far from our current place." The man replied

"Oh, is that true?"

"Of course, it is true." The man answered with a smile.

His words sounded true to the boy. And the boy asked him after thinking about something on his mind.

"Then, why aren't we using our spirit power?"

"....." The man responded to the boy as if he was saying the most trustworthy reason. "Because...."
