Chris realised that he can only strengthen the zombie and inanimate objects were out of the scope of his system.

"Am I just going to keep controling and strengthen the zombie army as a human being?"

Chris frowned.

The upgrade package gave him a dimensional backpack, which made him very satisfied as he could now collect resources without wasteing anything and the main thing was it could prevent the food from going bad.

However, he could only strengthen the zombies but not himself, which made him extremely unwilling, as he was someone who longed for strength.

Especially after experiencing the horror of his death, the feeling of being torn and eaten alive still haunt him, and witnessing the abilities of various zombies, he even wanted to have such enhanced abilities in his own body.

The way forward, however, did not seem completely blocked, as there was a level 2 gift pack, and likely, there would be one for level 3.

Perhaps at level 3, he could receive a reward that to help strengthen himself or maybe it would be some sort of magical ability.

Consoling his thoughts, with mind going wild thinking of the possibilities, Chris began to upgrade his low-level zombies.

With Michael and the others away from the bank, Chris had no choice but to start with Clarke first.

[Zombie: Clarke]

[Level: Low Level]

[Status: Recruited]

[Enhancement: Mist Zombie·Intermediate Level (Special, 0/10)]

"Huh? Why does this zombie also have a reading? What does this mean?" Chris wondered.

He thought upgrading to level 2 would allow him to give mid-level enhancements to low-level zombies. Was he wrong?

This misstep caused Chris some frustration.

As a system, the one he had was somewhat faulty, it lacked proper voice communication, leaving him to only rely on guessing what the specific function could be.

His previous correct guesses had made him proud, so this first mistake was disheartening.

Despite his sour mood, he had to persevere and explore further.

Just analyzing one zombie's data wasn't enough, so Chris summoned Rick, the self-destructing zombie.

[Zombie: Rick]

[Level: Low Level]

[Status: Recruited]

[Enhancement: Self-destructing Zombie·Intermediate Level (Special, 0/10)]

"What the hell!" Chris was perplexed.

Could this be a count of zombies killed? If so, Michael, Chad, and other's stats would differ.

Thinking this, Chris decided to recall Michael and the other zombies for inspection.

But then, Chris had put a stop on his experiments he a zombie just spoted someone, so he quickly concentrated on that zombie to see what was going on.

He spotted a group on survivors through the eyes of Chad, the hammerfist zombie!

Chris, knowing that it was no longer the time to be focused on intermediate enhancements, immediately connected with Chad's body.

Chad was in a grandly decorated honey store called for the other zombies nearby, next to the bank.

The store, filled with various jars of honey, seemed mostly untouched by zombies, except near the door where a few jars were missing.

Taking control of Chad's body, Chris maintained the zombie's pace, wandering among the glass counters.

Through the zombie's gray eyes, he saw three people, two men and one woman, cautiously lying behind a street tree outside the honey store, observing the situation inside.

The three survivors, all young and strikingly similar, seemed like they could be siblings. They were adept at luring zombies away. One of them, a man in a gray sweatshirt, cleverly used a can filled with gravel to create a diversion. The sound of the can hitting the asphalt drew the nearby zombies out, including most from the honey shop where Chris controlled Chad.

Surprisingly, Chad and a few other zombies remained in the store. Chris wondered if these zombies were deaf before turning, as they didn't react to the noise.

However, Chris's focus shifted as the supposed siblings made their move. The man in gray signaled someone in the distance, initiating a chain of sounds, suggesting there were more people involved. Chris realized their plan: they were using this coordinated effort to clear the zombies and raid the honey shop for its valuable resources.

Honey, rich in carbohydrates and with antibacterial properties, was a prized commodity in this apocalypse, rarely accessed due to the zombie threat.

Chris, in Chad's body, now faced a dilemma. With only four zombies in the store, including himself, they were outnumbered. The group outside, larger than he initially thought, was ready to storm the honey shop.

As the can's sound faded, the man in gray signaled again, and a group of about seventeen or eighteen people emerged, joining the initial three. They cautiously moved towards the honey shop, preparing for their first raid in this post-apocalyptic world.

Chris, reflecting on his situation, realized the complexity of surviving in a world overrun by zombies and the how cunning of other survivors can be, something he failed to realise in his last life.
