He realized that this new active ability of his was a significant upgrade to his existing skills, and he could feel his power growing.

However, the upgrade of poison qi manifestation also came with its challenges. Liu Feng found that he needed to be extra cautious when using his techniques to avoid accidentally poisoning someone or his surroundings.

As the hours passed by, he noticed the night slipping away into the warm light of dawn. It was only when the first birds began to sing that he reluctantly set aside his cultivation and stretched out his stiff muscles.

The others were already up, having woken at the crack of dawn to prepare for the journey ahead. They quickly had their breakfast, gathered their belongings, and set out on their way. The roads were quiet at this time of day, but as they drew closer to Gale City, the bustle of people and activity grew.

As the sun reached its peak in the sky, they finally arrived at the towering city gate. Guards in gleaming armor patrolled the walls, eyeing them with suspicion as they approached.

As they noticed the excited Li He, they approached the carriages and after some exchange of words, they were granted entry.

As the trio entered Gale City, the bustling activity was immediately visible. Crowds of people and carriages filled the streets, and vendors called out to passers-by from their stalls. Liu Feng and his companions made their way through the throng, taking in the sights and sounds of the city.

The city was located at the base of a gigantic mountain range where the peaks touched the clouds. The buildings were constructed of a mixture of wood and stone, with intricately carved decorations adorning the facades. The streets were paved with cobblestones, and the smells of cooking food wafted through the air.

Without wasting a moment, they headed straight for the city lord's mansion. It was an imposing structure, with high walls and intricate carvings, and it was clear that the city lord was a person of great wealth and influence.

As they entered the mansion, they could feel the weight of the city's power and the intrigue that came with it.

Three different rooms were assigned to serve as their guest quarters. Liu Feng had already been informed that the city lord was away, so he wouldn't be able to meet him for a couple of days.

Liu Feng was assured by Li He that he would handle the sale of the cicada remains, so he accepted the offer and decided to take a break and explore the city at his leisure.

He approached them and offered his assistance to guide them around the city. Liu Feng, however, politely refused the offer, stating that they just wanted to explore the city on their own.

Li He was slightly disheartened by this, but he understood their reason and realized that sometimes people like to have their adventure. Nevertheless, he still wanted to help them out in any way he could, so he pulled out a guest token from his pocket and offered it to Liu Feng.

"As long as you have this token, you won't have any trouble getting around the city. It will make everything much easier for you," Li He said, smiling. Liu Feng was grateful for the offer and accepted the token, thanking Li He for his kindness. He put the token in his pocket and promised to return it to Li He when they were finished with their exploration.

In the afternoon the trio left the mansion and found a lively teahouse and settled in for a warm cup of tea.

While enjoying their tea, they overheard a conversation at the next table. A group of merchants was discussing the upcoming city festival, which would be held in three weeks. The festival was a major event, attracting people from all over the region, and it promised to be a grand affair.

After finishing their tea, Liu Feng, Mei Lin, and Zhang Yan set out to explore Gale City. Zhang Yan led the way, recalling his memories of the city from his childhood. Liu Feng had not yet revealed his plans to Mei Lin, but as they walked further away from the bustling crowds, he shared a brief outline of his intentions.

He explained that they needed to gather intelligence and find any leads on the Chen family's activities and the location of Zhang Yan's little sister Zhang Ling.

As they walked, Liu Feng's eyes scanned the surroundings, taking in the different shops and stalls lining the streets. They decided to visit some clothing shops to purchase new outfits for themselves. Mei Lin was hesitant at first, but Liu Feng convinced her that it was necessary to blend in and not attract too much attention.

They tried on different clothes, haggling over prices and quality. Zhang Yan even joined in, offering his opinions on their choices. Finally, they settled on some new outfits and headed towards a blacksmith shop to purchase weapons.

Mei Lin only needed some arrowheads, so she decided to inspect the available options she got while Liu Feng and Zhang Yan browsed through the weapons section.

Liu Feng was hoping to find some better-quality weapons, but unfortunately, the blacksmith did not have anything that surpassed his current weapons.

Feeling disappointed, Liu Feng decided to continue exploring the city to gather more information. They walked through different parts of the city, observing its geography, the types of buildings, and the people that lived there. They even stumbled upon a local market, where they were able to taste some of the local delicacies.
