Invitation to the City Lord's Mansion

//Last Updated on June 22, 2024

Liu Feng was delighted by the appearance of new abilities. He examined his cultivation technique and realized that there were some improvements. The flow of qi was roughly the same, however, circulating the cultivation technique significantly reduced his fatigue.

There wasn't much of a difference from before, but his proficiency had dropped back to that of a beginner, but he definitely felt the impact of new changes.

Liu Feng went over to where the duo was resting, but they were shortly approached by the party fighting the smaller cicadas.

The man's eyes gleamed with admiration and respect as he approached Liu Feng. "Greetings, senior. I am Li He, son of the city lord of Gale city. Forgive me, I spoke rudely to you before and I deeply regret it. I am truly grateful for your help in defeating the cicada queen and saving us all. Please forgive my past actions and allow me to make it up to you. May I know the senior's name?"

'hmm…senior…oh, I guess I am in a cultivation world so I have to act like it.', Liu Feng thought.

He listened to the young man's apology but didn't show much of a reaction. He simply replied, "You can call me senior Liu" and gave a nod, indicating that he had heard the young man's words.

His lack of reaction made Li He unsure of how to proceed. He hesitantly cleared his throat, feeling a bit awkward as he addressed Liu Feng.

"E-excuse me, Senior Liu. I... I am truly sorry for my rude behavior towards you before. I was caught up in the moment and did not realize the error of my ways. Please, forgive me for my misdeeds," Li He said, bowing his head in apology.

Liu Feng finally spoke up. "I understand. There's no need to apologize anymore," he said, his tone calm and collected. "What's done is done, and it's pointless to dwell on the past."

Li He sighed with relief, thankful for Liu Feng's understanding. He was expecting a harsh reprimand or worse.

"Thank you very much, Senior Liu," Li said. He exclaimed, his voice trembling with excitement. "In exchange for your assistance, I'd like to invite you to my father's mansion in Gale City for some rewards. We would be honored to have you as a guest."

For a brief moment, Liu Feng did not say anything, effectively rendering his expression incomprehensible. Li He felt his heart rate rise as he pondered if his proposal had crossed a line.

Liu Feng finally spoke up, just when he felt it was all for naught. "I accept your invitation to visit the city lord's residence; it would be my pleasure."

Li He gave another deep bow as his face lit up with excitement. "Thank you very much, Senior Liu Feng. I'll make the necessary arrangements for your visit. I can't wait to introduce you to my father. They will be ecstatic to meet such a talented individual."

Liu Feng saw the excitement in Li He's eyes and realized he had to take advantage of the situation. He knew that if he went to a new city with the city lord's help, it would be simpler to establish himself in Gale city. But his sole concern was the bounty mentioned by Zhang Yan earlier.

'It's been a couple of years, can they still recognize him? The posters should display a portrait of Zhang Yan when he was younger. So, I don't expect any troubles soon.'

Liu Feng conversed with Li He for some time before turning his attention back to the duo.

As Li He went to make some arrangements and look after his men, Liu Feng focused his attention on Zhang Yan.

While he was talking with Li He, Zhang Yan regained consciousness. He felt a little sorry for Zhang Yan.

'The kid is not bad. Should I teach him my cultivation technique? Without the presence of qi in his body he will not be able to learn any advanced moves of the claw technique that he likes so much.'

'The cultivation technique is one of my trump cards. But should I teach him now or wait for some time and observe.'

'According to him, the Chen family will do the slaughtering around in three weeks.'

Liu Feng was impressed as always by Zhang Yan's ability to recover. As he observed Zhang Yan, he realized despite the difficult fight with the Cicada Queen and his injuries, Zhang Yan appeared to have recovered with his irregular vigor.

Liu Feng marveled at the young man's body's endurance and confirmed once more that the young man in front of him was someone like a protagonist in this world.

He considered teaching him some advanced claw technique moves, but Liu Feng was conflicted. He had never intended to share his cultivation technique with anyone readily, but recent events had made him reconsider.

He knew that teaching Zhang Yan his unique cultivation technique would not be an easy task, and could potentially put him in danger. However, he also understood the importance of passing on his knowledge to someone who could use it and be useful to him.

After a moment of contemplation, Liu Feng made a resolute decision.

"I will teach him," he thought to himself. He approached Zhang Yan with a serious expression.

He knew he needed someone he could rely on to accompany him on his journey through this world.

"Zhang Yan, are you alright?" Liu Feng inquired. "Yes, boss," Zhang Yan replied. "I'm perfectly fine."

"Despite a lot of mistakes and a lack of judgment, your performance in the fight was excellent," Liu Feng added, clapping Zhang Yan on the back. "I believe you are ready to learn some new skills."

Zhang Yan gazed up at him, surprised and grateful. "Are you serious, boss? That would be incredible. I've been wanting to learn from you for a long time."

Liu Feng grinned. "I have a unique cultivation technique that I'd like to teach you. It emphasizes balance and control, which I believe will enhance your natural strengths. But it will not be easy, so be prepared to work hard."

"You cannot learn any of my advanced claw techniques unless you cultivate qi. Learn this well, and I'll teach you more."

Zhang Yan was taken aback. He had always respected Liu Feng, but he had not anticipated being taught a cultivation technique so soon.

"I'm at a loss for words, Boss. Thank you," he murmured, bowing respectfully. Liu Feng responded with a smile.

Mei Lin overheard the conversation but didn't want to intrude, so she continued with her own, though her curiosity was piqued.

Liu Feng scanned the surrounding area before turning to Zhang Yan. "Let's relocate to a more secluded spot," he said in a low voice. "I cannot risk anyone else discovering the secrets of my cultivation technique."

Zhang Yan nodded, understanding the importance of keeping the technique confidential. Liu Feng's warning was not lost on him, reminding him of the potential threat of revealing the techniques.

Liu Feng had already warned him not to expose this skill to strangers. This sentence brought back memories of Liu Feng's previous threat.

Mei Lin was lost in contemplation while watching Liu Feng and Zhang Yan. She'd heard of cultivation techniques before, but they were always closely guarded by powerful families and sects. It was unusual to see someone with such knowledge as Liu Feng appear out of nowhere.

"It's possible he's a disciple of a powerful cultivator, but something doesn't feel right about him," she pondered quietly. I don't detect any threat or any power from him, but he exudes an incredible aura, and the strength and power he demonstrated exceeds that of a normal human."

They walked together to a nearby area, where Liu Feng began to teach Zhang Yan his technique. Mei Lin stood back and watched. Mei Lin couldn't help but look over to see what was going on, but she knew better than to interfere.

Liu Feng was unsure how to teach others his cultivation technique. He had learned the skill directly from the system, which made it difficult to teach to others. However, after gathering his thoughts, he devised a strategy.

"Zhang Yan, cultivation is not something that can be attained quickly," Liu Feng said after taking a long breath. Before we begin, you must first learn the fundamentals. To cultivate, first sense the Qi, the energy that permeates the universe around us."

"How do I sense the Qi?" Zhang Yan asked.

"Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing," Liu Feng said. Feel the energy in the surrounding air. It's not obvious, but it's there."

Zhang Yan did as he was instructed, closed his eyes, and concentrated on his breathing. He gradually began to focus on his five senses.

"Good, now I'll inject a strand of my own Qi into your body," Liu Feng said, nodding. I want you to concentrate on circulating it the way I do."
