15 Volume 2 Episode 9

Lin opened his eyes, as he woke up from his sleep.

It was dawn and he had to attend his classes.

A wide smile was on his face due to the results of his training. Now that he had successfully evolved into a dual magic wielding special existence, he had been training in order to perfect his body into its best form possible. This included training for increasing endurance, power and body strength and stretching them to their maximum limits. As a result, even though he was only a level 8, the power and body he could successfully counter a level 14 opponent. Gerald, who was just an escort, still was at level 13, which would've made it hard for Lin if it weren't for the fact that he was faster than him. Electricity magic enhances the user's speed, enabling them to move faster and respond even quicker than average users of other elements.

'This is great! Training is way more profitable now, I might reach the next level in less than one month at this pace.'

Having dual magic elements also had evolved his body as a whole, which meant that the speed he could advance levels were also enhanced, with him able to cross levels in mere months compared to other magic users who would have to wait for maybe even a year.

He took a bath and exited his apartment, moving toward the Practical Zone of the academy.

The Academy was divided into four zones in order to make it easier for students to get by. The Practical Zone, is a dedicated space purely for practice, martial arts, combat training and even for holding competitions.

The Study Zone is a place for the students to study in peace without any nuisance to bother them, even providing a noise cancelling room if necessary, although that would cost a little bit more than what a normal student would be willing to spend.

The Class Zone is for conducting normal classes, and the Future Zone is the zone you train for the courses you applied for a practical knowledge of how the job you wished to do would feel like. It's like an internship for the job you wish for that can be done at the school itself. The Future Zone also has an internship for the guild as well, where students can take on quests and jobs for payment, to experience the feeling of being in a real guild.

Along the way, Lin saw the other students of his class walking in the same direction.

They all had radiant smiles and seemed eager to reach the building where the class would occur.

Today was the day the first one-to-one combat training would take place. Everyone seemed to be excited at the fact that they could showcase their powers in front of the class.

The building was two-story-tall and, on the ground floor, it had a large room full of seats.

The seats encircled a large fighting ring where Mirium Vance, the teacher responsible for conducting such matches was standing.

She had her eyes open wide and seemed to be looking at the arriving students. She looked at Lin for some time, which made him return the gaze. It was only for a moment, but he did catch a glimpse of resentment and contempt hidden within her eyes. Lin wondered why she had been looking at him like that, but he wouldn't let someone looking down on him do as they wish. He immediately assigned her to his lookout list that he created in his mind. He wouldn't take any chances in giving his enemies opportunities to control his life anymore. He learned that the hard way with the whole Lindon Family issue.

It took the youths a few minutes to place themselves on the seats.

When the last one arrived, she moved to the outside of the ring while speaking with a loud voice.

"Today we will be conducting one-on-one combat training. The Drakon Academy is  best known as the Genius producing Academy in Korea. We have always been an independent private academy, with full freedom from political powers and whatnots that help us in creating and nurturing only the best and not for providing just a degree for the children of those rich businessmen at the top. However, in recent years, such a thing has sadly become common. Businessmen who want to have their child learn at the best Academy in all of Korea but who were not not willing to put an effort into doing it, used their connections, enticing some of the faculty members whom I won't name, and successfully enrolled them into the academy without even taking the entrance exam."

Lin listened to Ms. Vance's speech, and finally understood what she meant with her gaze before. She knew that he had used his connections to bypass the entrance exams and assumed that I'm just another rich lazy son coming from a wealthy family just for a degree in name.

'While you may have a noble enough reason behind your gaze Ms. Vance, I'm afraid you shouldn't have directed it to me.'

As Lin thought of how to deal with Ms. Vance, she had finally finished her long rant filled speech and looked at the students.

"You all probably know, most of your peers in your class are of level 10, as you're in the elite class. But then again, levels don't mean anything if you are actually using your mind. Having a higher level does indeed help you become faster, stronger and increases your endurance. But all that fails against an individual using their minds to counter your moves. That's why today, you'll not just be fighting students of your class, but students of B - Class and H - Class as well."

After she finished speaking, the doors of the building opened once more, and this time the students of B - Class and H - Class entered the room.

'Did she plan this? Were they just waiting outside the door this whole time? Isn't this a bit too theatrical?'

As students thought about the extravagant entrance of the students created by Mirium, she on the other hand felt satisfied. Mirium had always been a fan of Broadway shows and theatre, so she was thrilled with the introduction.

"Now, as I told you, you shall be facing these students from classes lower than yours. So, I shall give the choice for choosing an opponent to these students given that they are of a lower class than yours. Does anybody have a problem?"

Seeing no one question her, Mirium smiled and asked the students from B - Class to choose an opponent.

"I'll choose an opponent!" A boy with a handsome face stepped up to take the lead.

"Very well Leslie, who are you going to pick?"

As Mirium asked, Leslie looked at the students in front of him. They were all students of A - Class in front of him. He envied them. He had wished to be in the same class as them. His idol, Mr. Leonard Blane, was an A - Class student at the academy. He wanted to be like his idol, and he trained for getting into A - Class everyday. He had reached level 10 the day the entrance examination took place, and he was confident that he was going to get a seat in A - Class.

But he didn't.

It was told that all the seats for the A - Class had been taken. There wasn't any option for him but to take the B - Class. That was when he finally learned of the inequality faced with having no wealth. He realized that the wealthy always beat the worthy, even if they trained hard enough. This made him despise the rich who used their influence to get what they want, instead of giving it their all. So, when he was given an opportunity to beat them, he took it.

As he looked around for a potential target, he set his eyes one one person.

"I choose Lin Hamill."
