Just Like That

Although he had an extremely high defense, that was the only thing he had going for him. He lacked the necessary skills and strength to properly utilize his defense, becoming nothing more than a chew toy for the stronger Euclideans.

But on the other hand, the girl was completely different. Not only did she have the necessary defense, but she also had the required skills and strength. If one needed proof, they could just refer to the fight she just had. She not only managed to kill the chimera, but she had also done it without incurring a single injury! Peter was far beyond impressed with her skills, he was motivated!

He imagined what would happen if the two fought to the death and his lips curled up into a smirk.

'If my defense is as strong as it's been made out to be, then she'd just beat me up making the fight extremely one-sided, but at the same time, there won't be a clear winner. But if she is able to penetrate through my defense then I will be completely annihilated!'

His sentiments were mostly accurate, but comparing their current standings, he wouldn't have a chance to test it out.

'I seriously need to get stronger...'

Watching that fight had sparked something within him, and now all he wanted to do was get stronger! And you couldn't even blame him, he saw the same monster that used him as a chew toy, not only get suppressed but also killed. Such a sight would be enough to motivate anyone.

His eyes then shifted to the others fighting but before he could find any other strong recruit, he heard his name being called.

"Peter."

He turned his head to the side, wanting to see who was calling out to him, and found, Lukas and Jamie, walking towards him with smiles on their faces.

"Dude when did you get here?" asked Lucas with a bright and lively face.

"Like five minutes ago..."

Jamie and Lucas were surprised to hear this, prompting Jamie to ask,

"Wait, what was the Euclidean you were fighting before exiting the simulation?"

Peter thought for a second before saying, "The last round of the third stage. The chimera with wings..."

Jaime and Lucas were surprised as they excitedly complimented Peter for his feats.

"Damn you're really strong!!" said Jamie with stars in his eyes. Peter smiled sheepishly as he asked them at what stage they had perished. And to his surprise, both of them had lost their lives in the last round of the second stage.

Hearing that, Peter nodded his head in acknowledgment as he thought of how hard it would be with four wolves attacking you at the same time.

'A strong speed or defense is needed in situations like this...'

They chatted warmly for a couple of minutes before Peter realized and asked,

"I'm guessing you guys haven't met up with Florence?"

Jamie and Lukas nodded their heads in unison.

"I went looking for you guys but the only one I found was Lukas and now you, it's safe to say that he is still in the simulation," said Jamie.

Peter nodded his head in agreement as his eyes skimmed through the large screen where many people were still fighting. He saw many recruits with many different features, for example, one of the people he saw had four arms and another had a pair of wings. Some had carapaces encompassing their entire bodies while others only had some parts covered, some even none. As he continued to observe the screen, another individual caught his eyes. Under the cover of the carapace armor, not an inch of his skin could be seen.

He wielded two short swords and attacked a monkey-like creature with robust muscles, long sharp claws, and a deadly snake in place of its tail. It swung its arms, trying to impale its foe with one of its sharp claws. But the recruit was fast! He easily dodged the attack and countered with a quick jab with one of his swords. But before his jab could land, the snake tail used its scaled body to absorb most of the attack while it tried to bite the attacker. Its sharp fangs were revealed as it bit at the arm that wielded the attacking sword. The monkey don't he other had swung its massive arms trying to catch the recruit off guard. The recruit seemed to have wanted to get bit, as, as soon as he did, he slashed his other sword, cutting it off from the middle. As soon as he did, he jumped back dodging the attack from the monkey.

With it tail being cut off, the monkey screamed at the top of its lungs as it continued to angrily swing its arms. The recruit on the other hand kept dodging and waiting for the perfect moment to counterattack. And half a minute later, it came in the form of the monkey jumping toward him. The moment its feet left the ground, the recruit dashed forward and delivered and quick yet deadly attack that sent the monkey's head flying!

The round had ended just like that!
