Bandits

"Interesting, very interesting," Yone smirked, looking around, he saw that the explosion came from the narrow road he had been gazing at for the past few minutes, it's just that its location was a bit farther from his spot.

With a smile adorning his face, and eyes full of expectations and greed, Yone jumped from one tree to another towards the faint sounds, he was still under the influence of his body technique, so he knew no one would be able to notice him easily.

On his way to the location, Yone waved off flying pieces of wood. It was as if he had put a pause on the world.

'This form always gives me a great feeling,' Yone thought with a smile,' especially when the world's energy amplifies it, almost feels like I'm a true beast.'

Yone enjoyed the moment of a beast's instincts and true power before focusing on his objective again.

After two minutes, Yone had already reached where the explosion sounded.

He then found a good tree branch tens of meters away from the fight and changed the Qi flow from the entirety of his body to only his eyes. With that move, he could boost his eyesight several times.

With this level of vision, nothing in a radius of tens of meters would escape his eyes.

Yone was confident that not even a peak foundation establishment realm would be able to sneak up on him in this form.

That was the basis of his confidence to dare and watch such a fight with his measly 2nd cultivation level.

In the next moment, he saw some trees on fire and a carriage across the road filled with holes slightly burning in several places, dozens of people were around fighting to the death.

From the auras he could sense, Yone could tell that some were even at the 7th layer of the foundation establishment realm.

As he took a closer look, Yone noticed several bodies with limbs missing and armor tattered beyond recognition.

He could tell it was probably due to the explosion a minute or so ago.

The corpse's faces still displayed their unwillingness to die and fighting spirit which was deeply rooted in their souls and bodies.

They didn't want to die before achieving their goals.

Yet they also didn't have the strength to accomplish that goal.

Yone heaved a deep sigh, 'Somethings will never change even in a different world, ' Yone muttered. 'This was undoubtedly a group of bandits attacking a carriage.'

He then smirked for a split of a second, his devilish face and eyes exhibiting killing intent that would make anyone who looked at him subconsciously shudder with fear.

As the scene played out, Yone noticed two people that drew his attention.

It was a little girl accompanied by a slightly taller kid similar in age.

They were still inside the carriage, but he could see everything from the window.

They both had black hair and pale skin, but Yone noticed they weren't related given their different facial features. However, he didn't care. The most striking thing was that the girl was crying while the boy displayed a calmness beyond what an adult would ever show in such a scene.

His cold eyes in particular made Yone's heart feel a sense of warmth.

He then frowned at this sight, Yone didn't like this scene.

The girl and boy were definitely the people the men around the carriage were protecting, and from the looks of it, their guards were on the losing side. Nonetheless, the boy was acting like none of this was his business.

Yone could guess which were the bandits and which were the kid's guards, because a few of the fighting men wore black skin-tight jumpsuits, with their faces covered.

To Yone, they looked like assassins from his past life organization, while the other men fighting wore blue-colored leather vests and trousers.

Yone could recognize his kind, and could easily tell after observing the scene for a few seconds that the bandits were the man in black.

Pondering about what to do, Yone rubbed his chin, his qi was burning, and sooner or later, the bandits would notice his existence when their fight was done. If that happened, he might have a hard time escaping from them.

Gritting his teeth, Yone deactivated his body technique.

He needed some of his Qi in case an unexpected event occurred, and didn't wanna burn it in fully observing this scene or protecting himself from sneak attacks.

He would gamble that his location was far enough from them and his presence couldn't be detected easily.

As for helping the kids in trouble or guards that were about to get killed?

Yone couldn't care less about any of that.

The only reason he decided to stay longer in this place was for an opportunity to lay his hands on some benefits after all of this was over.

Yone was currently like a hungry wolf eyeing two big tigers fighting over prey. When both fought and a winner emerged victorious after killing the other party, he would jump in with full force and slit the winner's throat.

As for why he felt like even in this one-sided fight the bandits won't have enough means to fight against him?

Yone would just look at the emotionless kid next to the girl and smile.

'If my guess is correct, this kid has some sort of treasure given to him by his parents for him to use in dire situations,' Yone was almost certain about his thoughts, or else, a kid his age would never keep his calm after seeing this bloody scene and his life about to end.

In the next few minutes, the battle was still not over, making Yone lay on the branch as he placed his hands behind his head and slightly closed his eyes.

He wasn't interested in watching a boring battle between cannon fodder which wouldn't provide him with any real experience of cultivators' fights in this world.

For some unknown reason, the cultivator with the highest aura on the bandit's side had no plans whatsoever to join the fight, which was the only reason the fight took so long in the first place.

Yone didn't know why the leader acted so lazy, but he still had a few guesses.

'Oh, he is finally making a move,' Yone slightly opened his eyes as he gazed at a middle-aged man fully clad in black armor making his way towards the carriage, a two-meter-long black sword appearing on his right hand.
