Chapter 577: Fifth Grade Busy (Edited)

The other is the one that forces you to read and write.

Except, of course, Minerva and Hermione.

"Well, what I was going to say is that you'd better learn Occlumency too, if you can." Snape quickly thought of an excuse and said, "But on second thought, the Dark Lord wouldn't dare appear in your presence, so forget it."

"Nyajajajajajajajajaja!" Fish was undoubtedly deluded as he folded his arms and laughed gleefully, "Of course! Fish is powerful nya!"

(`)

"But..." after laughing, Fish was interested in another spell, "Could you teach Fish that spell to know people's thoughts nya?". He said, "That new teacher is so annoying nya, Fish wants to spy on her thoughts and teach her a lesson nya."

Of course, this was only one of the less important reasons, Fish was interested in the spell himself....

It would be nice to get a peek into Professor McGonagall's thoughts, that way, if he found out she was angry, he could hide in time!

Snape, however, shook his head and said, "It's a very difficult thing to use Legeremence unnoticed, even I can't do it."

In fact, as far as he knew, only Dumbledore and Voldemort were capable of it.

"Alright nya!" Fish said he had a plan for Umbridge, even without Legeremence. "Fish has the Swooping Evil poison that Newt gave me! And the Obliviate spell that Fish has learned!"

?(ΦωΦ)?

The Obliviate spell was a spell that could be used to fix things after they had gone wrong, and Fish had been pestering Professor McGonagall to teach it to her as soon as he heard about it from Lockhart.

Fish's reasoning was simple: he was usually so careless that he could take care of himself in case a Muggle caught him sneaking around.

Of course, Professor McGonagall knew that Fish was naughty and that underage wizards were under surveillance, but... it made it easier to hold the Ministry of Magic accountable than if Fish had made a fuss about Muggles.

As for the possibility that Fish was hiding something because of this spell, was there much more he could hide?

And as Fish became more and more sensible, Professor McGonagall thought he had a sense of propriety, so she finally granted him the spell, due to Fish's insistence.

Only on the following occasions was Fish caught in the act, or unable to use it at all.

This year, however, the story was different, as Umbridge had to be taught in secret, so the Obliviate spell and Swooping Evil poison came in handy.

"Swooping Evil's poison doesn't work," Snape didn't see the problem with Fish's idea, and checked for him. "It only erases bad memories, and can easily bring them back due to other things."

"Fish has the Obliviate spell!"

"The Obliviate spell isn't safe either," Snape said, shaking his head. "The Ministry has the means to track the use of the Obliviate spell, and if one isn't good enough at the spell, the range of memories it erases can be difficult to control accurately."

He held out his hand to Fish and said, "Give me the Swooping Evil poison, and I'll brew you a few Obliviate potions, and by varying the dosage, you can control exactly how long the memories are erased."

"Yes!"

(≧≦)

Without hesitation, Fish pulled out the Swooping Evil poison and handed it to Snape.

"Thank you very much, Severus!".

Snape twisted his lips slightly and said, "You're welcome, I don't like that woman either."

After putting the poison away, he added, "It's too late for today, from now on you will come to my office on Monday and Thursday afternoons, and practice on Draco."

"Ah..." Draco opened his mouth to protest.

After all, he too has some secrets he doesn't want too many people to know, and with Fish's mouth, anyone who knew anything would guess....

But his protest was silenced by Professor Snape's stern gaze.

Snape had arranged it this way, not only for convenience, but because it was more motivating for Draco, who would have to learn Occlumency as soon as possible if he didn't want his little secret to be accidentally revealed by Fish.

"Yes nya," Fish invited the two of them after the discussion, "Shall we go to the kitchens and get something to eat?" He replied immediately after, "Oh yeah, Draco no, you need to stay away from Fish."

Fish abandoned Malfoy mercilessly and looked at Professor Snape, "Severus, are you coming nya?"

Snape smiled faintly, then quickly returned to his expressionless face and nodded, "Good, I'm a bit hungry."

With that, the two left the office and headed for the kitchens, leaving Draco alone and dejected as he made his way back to the Slytherin dormitory.

...

The next day's classes were still packed, with little time for rest.

The morning consisted of two classes of Charms and two classes of Transfiguration, both of which were mostly spell exercises, so they were quite friendly for Fish.

Fish learned the spells very quickly and didn't need any extra practice, while the rest of the class had a hard time, as they not only had to go over many of the spells that Professor Flitwick had given them, but they also had to learn the Vanishing spell that Professor McGonagall had taught them today for tomorrow afternoon.

But the situation in the afternoon was not so friendly. In Care of Magical Creatures class, Professor Grubbly-Plank asked them to draw a sketch of a Bowtruckle, something the shorthand pen Rita Skeeter had given Fish couldn't help him with.

Although Fish doesn't hate to draw, he is a good draftsman.....

One thing to say, it's exactly the same as a cat crawling.

So when Fish did a quick sketch and showed it to Professor Grubbly-Plank....

"It's not good enough."

Professor Grubbly-Plank, still very competent, rejected Fish's sketch.

"Why nya?!"

∑(ΦДΦ)

The unsuspecting Fish waved the parchment in his hand, protesting, "It's obvious Groot and the others themselves said Fish drew it!".

As the Bowtruckles at the board table danced around agreeing with Fish.

Professor Grubbly-Plank looked at Fish and the Bowtruckles in bewilderment and unconsciously fumbled with the pipe in her pocket, tempted to take a puff immediately to relieve her frantic mood.

But in the end she restrained herself, pointing to the wild pile of lines on Fish's parchment and asking as calmly as she could, "Well, first you tell me, where's the Bowtruckle's head you drew?"

"Well..."

(ˇˇ)

Fish stared at his sketch, looked at it closely for a while, then pointed to a thicker line and said, not quite sure himself, "I think it's here nya?".

"Then, disqualified!"

"Nya!"

(≥△≤)

It's not that Fish didn't really know if his drawing looked like one or not, it's that Fish's unpredictable personality dictated that when he drew, his thoughts were very different one moment and the next, and what he ended up drawing was very strange.

"It's strange... when Fish was drawing, I thought it was very similar..."

(?ω?)

Fish scratched his head in confusion as he looked at the drawing in his hand that he didn't even recognize.

The following sketches were rejected by Professor Grubbly-Plank and Fish was unable to do a satisfactory job until the end of the class.

"It's so hard to draw nya!" Fish cried, "Fish misses Hagrid a bit..."

(QДQ)

At least Hagrid doesn't give such a difficult assignment, and it's fun to watch the students wrangle the magical animals!

After the lesson on Magical Animal Care, Fish and his classmates returned to the greenhouse.

As expected, Professor Sprout, as well as the other teachers, began the lesson by stressing the importance of the O.W.L.

Fish was finally able to take a break from the class, so he found a potted plant to dive into and fell asleep.

At the end of class, however, Professor Sprout handed them homework.

Even Fish noticed the difference this year, not only was the course strict and taught, but there was a lot of homework!

After class, Fish found a place to recite the Animagus Charm mantra at sunset, and then hurried to the Great Hall for dinner.

After a brief dinner, Fish immediately rejoined the group back in the Gryffindor common room, where he watched as the first years sampled another piece of candy from the twins before being reluctantly dragged off by Hermione to do their homework.

After a long day of drawing Bowtruckles with the help of Hermione and the other girls, and then writing his Herbology homework with a shorthand pen, Fish was feeling so mentally drained that he didn't even want to go on his nightly tour of the territory.

"I'm exhausted nya..."

_(ω」∠)_

Fish was lying on the common room table with dull eyes, not wanting to move at all.
