37 Customer and the thief

In the Pagoda, after giving what she had to, to the guild, Xuanmei, using Blue Pheonix's instructions, used a few ingredients to make liquid sleeping gas.

An experienced killer and amazing in crafts as thinking on the spot and using unusual ingredients was an important thing, she made a spray bottle and nozzle quickly and efficiently.

An amazing show of her impromptu decision making and thinking, she poured the sleeping gas in liquid state into the bottle, so that when it was sprayed, the vapour would be carried in the wind and allowed to diffuse to other parts.

During the night, Xuanmei sneaked back into the auction house, fully dressed in black. Entering the store room was no problem, as you just had to get past the guards and lockpick the door.

The twenty guards that were, well, guarding the doors, were doing so in such boredom that their lacklustre performance caused them to fall asleep.

The guards that weren't even close to sleeping, however, caused Xuanmei a bit of a problem. However, taking the sleeping gas and spraying some from the handmade spray bottle into the air, fanning it so as to allow it to easily, like a wisp of wind, knock out the guards one by one.

Opening the door with a creak, she touched everything that was valuable, throwing them onto the ground, but before anything could touch the ground, she had already transported them into her Pagoda.

Pixel-like pieces of the object, in mid air, broke apart, scattering and reforming into their original shape in the Pagoda, giving Ming a small scare as they came falling from the sky.

Picking up her emerald green piece of jade, she snuck out of the store room, closing the door quietly and sneakily behind her.

The next day, chaos ensued. Everyone's auction items were missing, even the very sought after piece of Jade that Xuanmei possessed.

The auctioneers were stunned, and scared beyond belief.

How could they pay for such an expensive piece of jade? They were just planning to sell that jade to gain some reputation and a small percentage of the cash earned by Xuanmei. They are completely innocent!

Unfortunately, having advertised about the piece of jade, pasting drawings everywhere about their new auction item to increase excitement and gain new auction goers, they couldn't back down, and couldn't pretend to not know what Xuanmei was talking about.

Was this what the older generation were talking about when they mentioned a lose-lose situation instead of a win-win situation?

What rival auction houses? What inability to sell items? The scariest thing to an auction house is obviously the customer and the thief!
