1 Chapter one - Mary-Anne

Mary-Anne Rose Spencer is 14 years old. She has two older sisters Lily and Shelia and two older brothers Phillip and William. Her parents are ex alcoholics recovering in rehab.

She lives in the care home Star West, got taken into care when she was 9 years old when her parents left them alone one night and came home drunk and started abusing them and a neighbour reported them to the police.

Her brothers and sisters are all married and now left care. Lily has two children Joshua (11 years old) and Bella (3 years old) and William has one daughter called Sarah-Jane (5 years old)

Her brothers and sisters got taken into different care homes than Mary-Anne. She has not seen them since she was 9 years old when she got taken into care.

Her nieces Bella is 3 years old, Lily's daughter, Sarah-Jane, 5 years old and William's daughter and her nephew Joshua, 11 years old and Lily's son has never met Mary-Anne. Her middle name Rose was named after her mother Rose. Lily's middle name is Vanessa, Shelia's middle name is Ruby, William's middle name is George and Phillip's middle name is named after his father Logan. She has not seen them since she was 9 years old.

Her nieces Bella (who is 3 years old and Lily's daughter) Sarah-Jane (who is 5 years old and William's daughter) and her nephew Joshua (who is 11 years old and Lily's son) have never met her.

"Mary-Anne! come down here a minute. There's someone that wants to meet you" said Joe Morris (one of the care workers)

I ran down the stairs and smiled at Joe. "What's up?" I asked "there's someone who wants to meet you," said Joe.

Someone stepped forward but stood still hiding behind Joe. "Hey, who's this?" I asked.

"This is Alexandra-Lily Mullins, she's a bit older than you," said Joe "how old?" I asked "17," said Joe.

I smiled and held out my hand so Alexandra could shake it, but she stood still behind Joe.

Joe smiled at me nervously.

"She's a bit shy, she didn��t want to be taken into care," said Joe "no one does, my name is Mary-Anne and I'll be in my room," I said "thanks Mary-Anne," said Joe smiling at me and I walked upstairs
