[Hogwarts, Great Hall, September 1st, 1991]

"You are no doubt a...RAVENCLAW!"

Once the hat yelled those words, a deafening silence surrounded the entire great hall. No one clapped except for one.

"WHOO!" Moses shouted while clapping, congratulating Wednesday causing the others to look at him weirdly.

"What...?" He asked, looking at the others confusedly. Not receiving a reply, he chose to ignore them with a shrug.

Wednesday marched to the Ravenclaw's house table, oblivious to everyone else, as her robe magically changed style to be similar to the Ravenclaw's robe.

After a few uncomfortable seconds, Professor McGonagall raised her parchment again and read the next person on the list loudly.

"Bones, Susan!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!" shouted the hat again, and Susan scuttled off to sit next to Hannah.

------------------------------

After a few roll calls, Hermione was taken to Gryffindor House with Ron, which only leaves Harry and me waiting to be called.

'I wonder how that works...does it read someone's mind? Or something else entirely...' I thought to myself while touching my imaginary moustache.

"Moses!" Professor McGonagall shouted,

I stepped forward and sat on the stool as Professor McGonagall placed the hat over my head.

"Hmmm, yes, yes, bravery, wits, and an undying loyalty, though that leaves you with ambition..." The hat uttered.

"Can you read my mind?" I asked while looking up.

"Read your mind? Preposterous, I would do no such thing, child, hahaha!" The hat said as he laughed boisterously.

"I see....then how can you know which house we are supposed to be in? Is it based on our wants? Needs? Or something else?"

"That's a trade secret, boy, but I can give you the answer if you tell me your real name..."

"My real name...? What do yo-"

"It appears that you don't know it either... well, I tried..."

"Wh-"

"RAVENCLAW!"

Once the hat announced my house, the Ravenclaw table gave their cheers. I couldn't ask about the talking hat because Professor McGonagall had already taken it from me and motioned for me to go to the Ravenclaw table.

'What just happened...my real name? Isn't it Moses?' I thought with curious expression not minding the students around me as I walked near the table with no students in it. I'm so into my thoughts that I didn't notice that the others were intentionally avoiding the seats in that part of the table because of one certain goth girl.

"Not liking your House? I seriously thought you were more of a Gryffindor considering the scene that you made in the lake." A lifeless voice stole my attention as I raised my head, wondering who spoke.

"Oh...Wednesday..." I uttered absentmindedly.

What the hat said to me completely threw me off guard. I have no idea what he was talking about—my real name? I've been Moses since Father found me floating in the river....unless he knows something about me that he saw when I wore him on my head, or he saw something in my head before I became Moses...but he said he doesn't read minds... Based on what he said, can I really trust him?

'What is my real name...' Shaking my head at this thought, I looked at the pigtailed girl in front of me.

"Nah, I just had something on my mind... I love my house! How about you?"

"As long as I have my own room completely devoid of these bookworms that just memorize lessons in their pea-size brains, then you can say that I am indeed content with the house that I am situated in." She said it in a deadpan tone.

"Ahhh...that's good!" I gave her a thumbs up while making an awkward smile at her.

"What about me, huh? I'm sure you're happy when we're in the same house, right?" I said to her while flexing my eyebrows up and down.

"The only time that I became happy is when I obtained a shovel as my birthday gift. I don't think you're worth that much."

'Ouch'

"I see, HAHAHA, I'm sure I will become as worthy as your shovel in the future, HAHAHAHA!"

"Don't laugh."

"Ok."

After our little conversation, Harry was called, and he was sorted into the Gryffindor house with Ron and Hermione. There was a little situation when he was called because the other students couldn't believe that he really is Harry Potter, which I totally understand because to them, he's some sort of hero.

Harry looked at me and nodded his head with a smile. I replied to him with a nod and a thumbs up.

----------------------

And soon, the hat sorting was completed, allowing all of the first-year students to socialize with their housemates while Moses read a book called Sherlock Holmes that he had taken from somewhere out of boredom.

Ting* Ting* Ting*

"Your attention, please." Professor McGonagall said,

Dumbledore stood up with a grandfatherly smile as he announced, he was beaming at the students, his arms open wide, as if nothing could have pleased him more than to see them all there.

"Welcome!" he said.

"Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words. And here they are: Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!" He said causing for some students to look at him weirdly while the others clapped.

"Thank you! Now let the feast begin!"

As those words came out of his mouth, a dozen exquisite foods of different varieties magically appeared on the table, causing Moses to raise an eyebrow in curiosity; however, that curiosity immediately disappeared when he saw the different potato dishes that were being served before him.

"Fondant potatoes, fish and chips, creamy mashed potatoes, potato salad, shepherd's pie... am I in heaven...?" Moses muttered with stars in his eyes as he reached all the dishes with potatoes in them, gobbling them up and making the others look at him weirdly.

"Do not be careful when eating, so you can choke." Wednesday uttered while cutting up his whole chicken into parts and then placing it in an orderly manner.

The four houses were peacefully eating when suddenly a dozen ghosts appeared and shocked them. One of those ghosts was a woman ghost named Helena Ravenclaw, also known as the 'Grey Lady'.

"It's a pleasure to have you this evening, Grey Lady." One of the older Ravenclaw students said respectfully. The Grey Lady only replied with a silent nod without any emotion in her eyes as she floated on the Ravenclaw table, surveying the first years.

Once she was on the farthest part of the table, two students grabbed her attention, most particularly the girl with pigtails. Wednesday noticed her stare as the Grey Lady floated in front of their table.

"How did you die?" Wednesday asked,

"I was killed." The Grey Lady replied lifelessly.

"Interesting...tell me more."

As this was happening, Moses was still busy devouring the potato dishes with his abyssal stomach, causing some of the Gryffindors to look at him funny while mostly the girls were giggling at his antics.

Wednesday's question to the Grey Lady, however, was not answered when Professor Dumbledore got to his feet again. The hall fell silent.

"I have a few start-of-term notices I wish to announce." He began as he went on,

"The first years, please note that the Dark Forest is strictly forbidden to all students." With those words, Moses felt a sudden tingling at his front, causing him to look at the source of it and notice Wednesday with a hidden glint in her eyes.

"I have also been asked by our caretaker, Mr. Filch, to remind you that the third-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds..." He continued, which only ignited Wednesday's glint in her dark, black eyes. Moses thought this was the end of his uncomfortable feeling, but when Professor Dumbledore uttered the next words,

"...to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death." When he uttered those words...Wednesday...smiled maniacally. Or Moses thought so, but when he blinked, Wednesday's lifeless expression returned again. It was as if nothing had happened.

'What the hell was that...' Moses thought a little frightened at the goth-looking girl.

"The Quidditch trials will be held in the second week of the term. Anyone interested in playing for their house teams should contact Madam Hooch."

"That's all, thank you." He thanked everyone as he sat on his chair.

"And now, before we go to bed, let us sing the school song!" cried Dumbledore. Once he yelled those words, Moses looked at Wednesday with widened eyes as he saw her face scrunching up a bit.

Dumbledore gave his wand a little flick, as if he were trying to get a fly off the end, and a long golden ribbon flew out of it, which rose high above the tables and twisted itself, snakelike, into words.

"Everyone pick their favorite tune, and off we go!" said Dumbledore,

And the school bellowed,

{Sound Nullify}

Moses commanded, and an invisible barrier appeared around them, preventing any sound from entering. Wednesday can't see the barrier, but the phenomenon that is happening before her causes her to look at Moses questioningly.

"How did you do this?"

"Magic...?" Moses answered unsurely, he just gave those commands instinctively out of panic, but when he thought about it, he made a very dumb move because of a girl that he's only known for about 3 hours.

"I see...looks like you've advanced your study." Wednesday uttered without a hint as she appreciated the silence provided by Moses' "magic," then frowned when she thought of something.

"I already owed you two times; I don't like having a debt to someone. Tell me, what do you want?" Wednesday looked at Moses with a more serious expression.

"Well, I don't kno-" said Moses, but before he could finish, Wednesday interrupted him by saying,

"Do you want someone killed? It'd be my pleasure. What about kidnap? Decapitate? Behead? Nothing...?" With every word that came out of her mouth, Moses realized a glimpse of what kind of girl she is.

"Wha-"

"What about my body...don't tell me you want my bo-"

"No!"

"I'm just kidding, I'd rather kill you than let you use my body for your nefarious, sickening, nauseating purposes."

"What the — isn't it supposed to be "I'd rather kill myself?" Moses wondered, looking at Wednesday incredulously.

"I don't want anything, okay? And where did you even get the idea that I want your body—you're weird..." said Moses while looking at Wednesday with an uncanny look.

"Look, a simple thank you is enough." Moses said this while looking at Wednesday with an innocent smile.

"...I'd rather kill myself."

"..."

As those weird conversations finished leaving Moses dumbfounded, he looked around and noticed the other students standing up. He canceled his order so he could hear the other students better and figure out what was going on.

"Looks like, we'll be going into our common rooms now." Moses said as he stood up and fixed his robe a little bit. The two of them followed the other Ravenclaws who were following a senior Ravenclaw student whom Moses assumed to be the Prefect of the Ravenclaw house.

"Ravenclaw! Right this way!"
