1 Moses

[St. Ottery Catchpole, July 7, 1980]

A typical day in the UK, with birds chirping, the wind whistling, and the river waving. In a small village located in Devon, England.

A black-haired nun with fine skin and a striking face is busy doing the orphanage's laundry near the river when suddenly a voice appeared behind her.

"Sister Lily, we have a busy day today, ain't it." The priest spoke in a relaxed tone. The said priest is an old man with a mustache, wearing glasses, and dressed in priest attire.

"Yes, Father Orsi. Though it's all worth it, imagining the smiling faces of the children while wearing their clean shirts does put a smile on my face. " Sister Lily replied to Father Orsi in a gleeful tone.

"Hohoho, I understand what you're talking about, Sister Lily."

"WAHH! WAHHH! WAHHH!"

"What...did something happen to the children? I will check what's going on." Father Orsi said in a confused tone.

"No...Father, I don't think it came from the orphanage." Lily muttered as she looked at her surroundings. After looking around, she found something floating on the river. A small basket.

"What do you- Sister, where are you going?"

Once they arrived near the basket, they were able to hear the cry more clearly, making them realize that there was a baby crying in the basket.

"WAHH! WAHH!"

"Blimey! There's a baby in it, isn't there? Sister Lily, quick! Prepare me a towel," Father Orsi uttered as he ran and swam to where the baby is.

"Yes, Father!" Lily exclaimed as she dashed to the orphanage.

After a few swim strokes, Father Orsi arrived at where the basket was and saw a small baby crying inside it.

A boy, not more than a month old, bawling his deep green eyes and his golden blonde colored hair drenched by sweat and fluid.

"Hello, little one..." Father Orsi uttered as he picked up the baby with his wet hands.

"How's your little adventure?" He said while looking at the baby's deep green eyes. The child, who seemingly heard his voice, met his eye with curiosity.

"Hmm, look at you, looking at me with those nature-loving eyes." He muttered while smiling gently.

"It looks like today will indeed be a busy day."

He looked inside the box and checked anything that was contained in it, only to find a small piece of paper. He checked its writing and read it.

"No name...only a birthday?...July 7th, 1980..." Father Orsi muttered with a curious expression.

'Why didn't the mother or father just write both his name and birth?' He thought, confused.

"Looks like they didn't give you a name, my child... at least they gave you your birthday, huh? Let me see... a child that I have drawn in a river..." He uttered while making a thoughtful expression. After a few seconds, he finally has an idea of what to name the child.

"Moses." He uttered, satisfied with the name he gave.

"From now on, your name shall be Moses." Father Orsi declared with a voice full of conviction, and like a miracle, the clouds over the sky seemed to divide, causing a small sliver of light to pass through, lighting the baby Moses and seemingly welcoming his arrival.

"Father! I've got the towel!"

[St. Ottery Catchpole, July 7, 1987]

Seven years had passed since Moses was found floating on the river by Father Orsi and Sister Lily. Moses, in the past few years, has grown into a rather cute and loveable boy who values his relationships in his orphanage.

Over the course of years, Moses developed a deep curiosity in science and life. He always wondered how life forms work and what the factors are that make them work. Though, like every other child, what he really hates is math. Those numbers always annoyed the little head of his.

He always treasured his moments in the orphanage with his trusted friends and, especially, Sister Lily and Father Orsi, his parents not by blood. The one who made him...him.

However, unlike any other child, Moses developed a stutter. The only thing that he hated about himself. When he was a child, he barely talked, the only thing that he did was observe, and once he managed to talk, he was not very good at it.

The local physician already checked what was wrong with him, but unfortunately, the results came out null. The physician said that Moses does not have any problems physically but rather psychologically.

"Moses, it's time to blow your candle!" A feminine voice resounded over the green field of grass.

A golden-haired boy with deep green eyes who was reading a book under the oak tree looked at the source of the voice and smiled innocently.

The boy is over 133.3 cm tall and has great fitness even though he only lives in an orphanage, indicating that his guardian did a good job raising him.

"C-com-coming Sister!" The boy, whose name is Moses, shouted as he stood up and ran towards where Lily is.

--------------------------

"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday, dear, Moses, Happy Birthday to you~" The children, Lily, and Father Orsi all sang Moses a happy birthday song while Moses was looking at them and smiling happily.

"Th-th...thank you...everyone." Moses muttered, his eyes slightly damp with tears as he looked at his siblings and the people who took after him.

Moses, even though he stuttered, the kids in the orphanage still loves him because of his peaceful nature and generosity. When some of them had personal problems, Moses always helped them in the best way that he could, as long as he could see their smiles.

Yes, siblings...Moses never saw them or himself as an orphan, he sees them as a family. The moment that Father Orsi and Sister Lily take in a child, that child will automatically be his sibling, and he will do everything to take care of them.

"Blow your candle now, Moses." Father Orsi said as he walked to Moses' side and gently patted his back.

"Uhhm," Moses hummed with a nod.

"Oh! And never forget your wish, okay?" Father Orsi said.

"Uhm"

Moses closed his eyes and thought of what he wanted the most.

Moses has always wondered who his parents are. He always asked himself why they left him, but instead of being stuck in wonder, he pushed himself up and concentrated on the present, because in the present is where he can find most of the people that he cherished, and for him, they're more than enough.

That's why he smartly decided that his future self will be the one who will deal with that curiosity and let him work on it in the future.

Moses doesn't want anything big right now. There are only two things that he wants the most right now, and that is to be able to stop stuttering and become good at math. A very childlike thought really, but it is what it is.

'I wish to not stutter anymore and-' Moses thought, but he was not able to continue his thought when suddenly a burst of energy erupted from somewhere in his heart and immediately disappeared from within him.

'What's happening to me' Moses pondered while blinking his heavy eyelids. His energy and stamina were suddenly gone due to an unknown phenomenon that caused Moses to feel weak and sluggish.

"What's the matter, Moses?" Father Orsi asked in a worried tone while supporting Moses's shoulder from the back.

"Father, I don't feel goo-" Moses uttered with all of his strength, but he was not able to finish it as he fell down on the hard wooden floor like a log, taking him directly to Morpheus' realm.

"Moses!"

Unknown to them, the beginning of Moses's adventure in the mysteries and chaos chapter had already begun with his one simple wish. Is it a wish that he will regret in the future? Only time can tell.
