87 Mutants Among Us? -85

Hours later, the state of emergency was called off, and Natasha found an excuse to have Sarah escort her back to where she was supposed to be without alerting her to the fact that she had helped Natasha sneak into areas she wasn't allowed to be in.

Natasha still wasn't entirely sure if she had gotten away with her little escapade; no one had said anything yet, so she was hopeful that it had been missed in all the chaos. There had been countless cameras down in the main SITE, so she was sure she had been spotted.

However, there was a good chance that no one watching had noticed that she wasn't supposed to be there. Even if she did get caught, she still didn't regret it. The opportunity had been invaluable.

Just knowing that there was a small village worth of facilities underground here was knowledge worth the risk, even if she wasn't sure if she would ever be able to report this information, or whatever, or if she even should report it.

[With Alexander Ricci]

After having every inch of the SITE carefully searched through multiple times to look for the intruder, it had been concluded that she had indeed left the premises. Now all that was left was to find out just how she had gotten in and out in the first place.

Then, find out who she is, then go to her move and bag and grab her. A containment cell had already been prepared at SITE-19, which should hopefully stop her from phasing through the walls, and if not, then she could be sedated until a method had been found.

"Very well, Markus, what do you have for me?"

Markus stood before Alexander Ricci, a sheaf of reports in his hand, his expression serious and focused. The atmosphere in the room was tense, reflective of the gravity of the situation and the weight of the task at hand.

"We've completed the initial review of all surveillance footage available, including the periods leading up to and following the containment breach," Markus began, laying out the documents on the table between them. "We've identified several anomalies in the patterns of entry and exit within the SITE that coincide with the timeframes of the intruder's known presence."

He pointed to a series of timestamps highlighted on one of the pages. "Here, and here, we see unauthorized access attempts that were flagged by the system, and someone was dispatched to check it out but found no signs of anything, so it was initially dismissed as false positives due to their fleeting nature. Given the intruder's ability to phase through solid matter, it's likely she exploited blind spots in our surveillance network."

Alexander leaned forward, his gaze sharp as he scrutinized the details Markus provided. "And the exits? Do we have a trajectory on how she left the SITE?"

Markus flipped to another page, indicating a map of the SITE with several marked points. "Based on the sequence of alerts and the last known location of the intruder, we believe she exited through one of the lower service tunnels. It's a less monitored area, used primarily for maintenance. It seems she was well-informed about our blind spots."

Alexander's jaw tightened at the revelation. "It implies inside knowledge, or she just happened to be really, really lucky. Do we have any leads on her identity?"

"Yes, we were able to find that out somewhat quickly." Markus replied. "We conducted a large-scale search in every possible database using the picture you produced for us and found her identity to be that of Theresa Pryde, also going by Jessica Hardy."

Alex felt that the names sounded familiar, but he couldn't quite remember just where he had heard them before, meaning she might be a small character in the marvel universe.

"And have she been found?"

Markus shook his head. "No, not yet. We have surveillance watching both of her families, both her husbands and daughters, but so far, she is a no-show. We expect that she is currently making her way back to one of her known addresses, and once there, we will grab her."

"Keep the surveillance tight on those locations. I don't want her slipping through our fingers again. The moment she makes an appearance, I want to be notified immediately," Alex ordered, his tone leaving no room for error. The capture of this object had become a top priority, not just for the breach she represented, but for the information she could have gathered while on SITE, like knowing that he was alive.

"Also, find out who she normally works with, I don't want anyone knowing about me being alive." Alex added before he quickly made his way down to his bunker.

In his bunker he quickly made his way to SCP-216. His fingers spun the tuner again and again. Inserting a very long code known only to him. Minutes passed by as he imputed an impossibly long code before he finally opened the safe and pulled out his trusty journal.

Leafing through the pages, he searched for the names the intruder went by, with the added clue of the black cat look he quickly found something. "Felicia Hardy, the black cat." He muttered as he read the few notes he had on her.

"Black cat, master thief, enemy slash lover of spiderman, looking for her master thief father who is missing. Is the mother taking the role here, or was she also always a thief?"

Alex with these new clues tried to force his memory to dig up anything more he knew about the black cat. After all Felicia should only be a few years old by now, meaning that the intruder had to be her mother, yet he didn't remember anything about Felicia having any superpowers.

"Let's see if your other identity can show some light on your mystery kitty cat." He mumbled to himself as he kept looking through the journal.

Page after page, section after section he leafed through plot after plot and his eyes scanned over countless names. It look a long time until he finally stopped something that seemed to fit. Kitty Pryde, aka, Shadowcat.

"Really? The X-men? This is the first clue towards mutants being a thing I have seen so far." Alex whispered as he put two and two together and marked down Theresa Pryde, as the mother of the future X-men Kitty.

Alex had naturally done plenty of research to see if this universe he was in was some MCU X-man crossover. But had been unable to find any clues or hits towards mutants being a thing.

Now he wasn't too familiar with the X-men, he did know some of the bigger plots. The names of some mutants and enemies. The big problem with comics was that there was many different storylines which meant different mutants and what not.

Kitty Pryde, someone who had the ability to walk through walls did indeed fit with being the daughter of Theresa Pryde, at least as close as it could in the mixing bowl that was a mix of comic universes.

"If mutants are a thing, I will have to change all my plans, and figure out how my first look missed them." He mused as he leaned back and tried to think about how different things would be if the mutants were around.

"How should I even deal with them? The Foundation… would treat them as objects? But with time… they should be so numerous that they would surpass normal humans..."

Mutants was something that had always troubled Alex, which is why he was happy when he first learned that the mutants weren't around in this world. Yet now that didn't seem as certain as he did once.

Personally the old him was very much in support of the mutants, after all they were the future, the next evolution, trying to stop that was foolish, yet now, as one of the leaders of the Foundation, he wasn't sure what to think.

The mutants were SCP objects that should be placed in containment, yet it also didn't feel right to do that. The number of mutants wasn't small and would only grow unless he did something to stop them from being born.

Mutants could be considered to be a potential SK-class event. "AAAAHHHUGH" 'Just thinking about it is giving me a headache.'

"Fuck it, I will deal with this later, once this black cat have been caught and I know for sure if she is a mutant or not."

Alex figured that it couldn't take that long to find her. Surely she would show up somewhere at some point, she did seem to have two families and two daughters, she would surely show up soon enough indeed.

Yet he was destined to be disappointed as were two young girls who would be missing their mothers, and their fathers who would lose the mother of their children suddenly and without warning.

[Ding! Warning! Host a SCP has appeared in the world and is outside Foundation control! Host is asked to deal with the situation and follow the Foundation's goal of Securing, containing, and Protecting!]

Alex had just summoned the monthly SCP object and had gotten Euclid-level object 247, the harmless kitten. This object was slightly interesting but also highly dangerous because it was a tiger, which, to anyone in the range of its effect, looked like a normal cat.

More than that, they wouldn't react even as they got torn apart. Even he wouldn't do anything if he was attacked, which meant that he wouldn't activate his suit should he run into it.

So, it didn't have a big chance of blowing the lid off the abnormal, and it wouldn't cause a K-class scenario even if it could be dangerous to anyone running into the object.

Thankfully, his SCP location tool was helpful and informed him that it was inside an urban environment. Yeah, there weren't a lot of those around, so it shouldn't take long to find it.

"I really need an upgrade for this system. Or I won't ever be able to cut down on the list of active missions going on." He muttered as he leaned back.

The time since the black cat incident had been a mix of things. For one she still hadn't been found on the other side they had gotten SCP-3008 contained.

Which had been yet another rather useless reward, certainly given how difficult it had been to contain the object. Even now there were still people going into the object and the Foundation struggled to stop it due to pressure from governments and other organizations.

The reward was another object, a quantum wallet, which always had the exact amount of money needed for a purchase, but only once a day. So it was infinite money, if one had infinite time.

It also only worked in cash, so he couldn't just pull billions out of it. After all he could only get the money needed for a purchase, and few people would agree to sell something worth that much in cash.

Not that the Foundation didn't have its ways to use this object. Even more so given his role as the master of dark operations. But it was overall far from what he had wanted.

No, the best that had happened was this very morning before he summoned 247. He had gotten the news that SCP-407 had finally made an appearance. Something he had been looking forward to since the day he summoned it.

With this, he could finally push his plan forward with getting revenge on Hydra, something he had been forced to push back time and time again; even had to ask the Mandarin to calm down, or he would have dismantled both Hydra and Shield before he even had a chance to get a stab in.

No, with this object secure he could move forward with many of his plans, after all the ability to heal anything was something that was supremely powerful, even in a world such as Marvel. Which, while it had plenty of world destroying powers, lacked many healing ones.

"The next few months are going to be very eventful indeed." He whispered with a smirk on his lips as he went back to his work, all while keeping an eye on the progress with the containment mission.
