150 Chapter 150: Attachment

---

When Mike felt Gwen release herself, he placed her on the sofa and said, "I'll go and make you something to eat."

Mike got up, but the corner of his coat was pulled by Gwen.

"Don't worry, I'll be right here, I won't leave."

Mike touched Gwen's head and walked into the kitchen when she let go of him.

Gwen sat motionless on the sofa, her eyes chasing Mike's back as he went about his work in the kitchen.

As long as she couldn't see Mike, she was a little scared, a little anxious, and as soon as he appeared, she settled down quickly.

Soon, Mike came out with a bowl of noodles.

The green onion sprinkled on the noodles and a fried egg on top looked very appealing.

"Eat this."

Mike was afraid that Gwen wouldn't know how to use chopsticks, so he picked up a fork and handed it over.

She looked up at Mike and said the first thing she had said since she met him: "I don't have a father anymore, I don't have a father."

Mike's heart sank, and he bent down to hug Gwen, feeling her grief, gently stroking her head and saying, "Don't cry, your father will be heartbroken when he sees you like this."

"Woo-hoo!"

Gwen closed her mouth and tried her best to hold it in, but she couldn't help but whimper.

Mike let go of Gwen, wiped Gwen's tears, looked at her eyes, which were already swollen with tears, and said, "Gwen, you have to be strong, your father is watching you in heaven, he must like your smile too, right?"

Gwen sobbed and nodded her head, trying to put a smile on her face.

It was an effort to pretend to be strong ...

Mike's heart ached even more when he saw it.

But he could only smile at her and said, "Eat it, it's delicious."

Gwen nodded, wiping her tears as she picked up the noodles and popped them into her mouth.

It was delicious, but she only ate a little and then put down her cutlery.

Seeing this, Mike touched Gwen's head, looked at her troubled eyes, pushed the bowl aside and said, "Come on, finish it, then I'll wash you after."

While Gwen was eating, Mike had already prepared the toiletries for him. He had even used his teleportation to buy two sets of pyjamas for him while he was in the toilet.

Gwen slid off the sofa and said in a small voice, "I can do it myself."

Mike was stunned and said, "That's great!"

Gwen went into the bathroom but didn't close the door, even turning her head from time to time to look at Mike.

When Mike noticed this, he simply stood at the door.

At the sight of this, Gwen finally relaxed.

She was scared, really scared.

At a time when her world was dominated by blood and the foul face of the criminal, Mike had come along and pulled that foul face out of her world and into her eyes, bringing her warmth.

It was as if a ray of sunshine had suddenly emerged from an endless abyss and landed on her, which was about to be swallowed up, and saved her.

Warm, reassuring and reliable ...

This is the feeling that Mike gave her.

The first thing that happened was that Gwen came out after washing up.

Mike reached out and took her cold hand, led her to a bedroom, handed her pyjamas to Gwen and said, "You can sleep here, can you?"

Gwen nodded and took her pyjamas and went to bed.

Mike left a light on, closed the door and started to wash up.

This little girl was a real heartbreaker.

When he got back to his room, he had just turned off the light and was lying in bed when he heard a knock at the door.

Then came the timid question, "Uncle, can I sleep with you? I'm scared."

Mike got out of bed, turned on the light and opened the door.

Gwen, dressed in a bear print nightgown, was standing at Mike's door, clutching her pillow and looking at him timidly, her fingers clasped together and squeezing.

When he didn't hear Mike's response, Gwen's head dipped and she whispered, "I won't disturb Uncle's sleep, and I won't kick the covers."

"Good!"

Mike answered.

Gwen looked up in surprise, only to see a pair of gentle eyes.

Gwen went into the room, climbed into bed, put the pillow down, pulled the covers back, and hastily closed her eyes.

Mike smiled, shook his head and

He lay back down on the bed.

Gwen was asleep in no time at all.

After watching her sleep, he too drifted off to sleep.

The next day, Oliver knocked on Mike's door and took Gwen and Mike to the police station.

He had only come to pick up Gwen, but he didn't expect Gwen to let go of Mike, so he took him back to the station.

The number of visits to the police station in the past two days was a bit excessive.

Mike chuckled.

Sheriff George Stacey had only one daughter, Gwen, and no other relatives, so he had to give Gwen his belongings, but Gwen was too young to look at them.

But when Oliver brought her father's belongings, she thanked him with tears.

It was a heartbreaking sight to see.

George Stacey's funeral was handled by the police department, and there was no doubt that all of his estate would go to Gwen.

Gwen had two options as to where to go from here.

One is to be placed in an orphanage, and the other is to be adopted.

Oliver and several police officers have expressed their desire to adopt Gwen, but when asked, she just kept her heads down and did not respond.

It was a difficult decision for a young girl who had just lost her father to make.

The police officers sighed.

Mike got up, Gwen looked at Mike nervously and said, "Don't go!"

Gwen was more attached to Mike than they could have imagined, had they really only known each other for a day?

But thinking about what happened yesterday, and remembering that Mike had saved Gwen's life, they could understand Gwen's feelings.

Looking at the scene, Oliver had a flash of inspiration and said to Mike, "Do you want to take Gwen in?"

"Me?" Mike was stunned, and his heart grew soft as he looked at Gwen's little face.

A daughter?

That's a good look.

He walked up to Gwen, squatted down, and said, "Gwen, do you want to come with me?"

Gwen thought for a while and nodded.

Seeing this, police officer Oliver, in case Gwen didn't understand, whispered, "Gwen, if you go with Mike, it means that you will live with Mike from now on, and he will become your adoptive father, which means your new father, do you understand?"

Gwen looked at Mike, hesitated, and then nodded vigorously.

At the sight of this, Mike gave Gwen a smile and a hug, while the other officers also smiled at the sight.

Oliver sighed and said to Mike in a fierce manner, "You must treat Gwen well and you better not get any bad ideas!"

Unwarranted ideas?

Gwen's inheritance? (A/N: Or...😏)

Mike laughed and said, "I don't care about that stuff."
