71 Chapter 70: Nick Fury meets the Surgeon

Law reached near an abandoned military warehouse where Fury was going to meet him.

He used observation Haki to check if Fury had a trap set for him. To his surprise, there were only three people present inside the warehouse and no trap waiting there for him.

The three people in the warehouse were Fury, Phil Coulson and Clint Barton aka Hawkeye.

He was disappointed not only because Fury did not bring Natasha Romanoff with him depriving him of the chance to meet the literal red-haired goddess but also because he was looking forward to seeing how Fury would try to deal with him if he considered him a threat.

Anyways, He strolled through the front gate and entered the dark warehouse.

As soon as he entered the warehouse, the lights were turned on.

'Ah theatrics, to intimate me perhaps?' Law thought amused

"Hello, Mr. Surgeon! I have been wanting to meet you for some time now." Fury said as he calmly sipped tea from a cup.

"MY EYESSSS!" Law shouted comically as he put his hands on his eyes crying in pain.

Fury and the other two suddenly turned vigilant and turned around the room with their weapons in hand to see if anyone had attacked their mercenary 'friend'.

They did not see anything wrong so Fury asked Barton to check up on Law.

"Are you alright?" Barton asked Law

Law said still covering his eyes with his hands "Turn down the lights or ask that bald guy to wear a cap or a hoodie. The light literally shined from his head and burned my eyes."

Fury had a blank expression on his face while Clint tried not to laugh. Coulson just looked at Fury for further instructions.

"Enough of it. Let's get to business. I have called you here for a mission. So show some professionalism." Fury said not at all surprised or angered by Law's earlier actions as he had enquired about this mercenary from his previous clients.

All of them described the mercenary as either funny, annoying, idiot, powerful, miracle doctor or god's gift. Apart from this, they all said that he is a mercenary who always gets the job done despite his cockiness and annoying nature. That's why he invited Law here.

Once Coulson dimmed the lights a little, Law opened his eyes and he then looked at Fury.

"You wear an eye patch! Are you cosplaying a pirate or something? Finally, a guy who can rival my impeccable sense of fashion." Law said with joy.

Fury just ignored his comments and said "I have called you here because I have a proposal for you."

"Oh straight to the point and no introduction?" Law said surprised as he was waiting to make a joke when Fury was going to say the full form of SHIELD.

"What's the point of introducing myself to someone who already knows about me and from which organization that I come from?" Fury said with a smirk.

'Oh, So we have a smartass Nick Fury in this universe.' Law thought amused

"You must be wondering about how I know that. Well, I have studied all your mission patterns and I know that you have good computer skills since no one in SHIELD could hack into your mercenary website. With a detailed check, I found that someone had hacked into SHIELD and had copied the entire data and all the trace that was left was photos of different candies." Fury said as he then turned his eyes to look at Law.

"And the fact that you killed several of SHIELD agents and government officials that supported SHIELD was the final nail in the coffin which made me sure that you know about SHIELD." Fury said with confidence with voice.

"Uhh Sure, But I never asked you to give me an explanation," Law said as there was an awkward silence in the room for a few minutes.

Law was the first one to break the silence as he asked "Since you know that I killed people from SHIELD, then why are you giving me an offer instead of pointing guns at me? If I am not wrong I am on top of SHIELD's wanted list."

'Like I expected, he has all the information about SHIELD.' Fury thought

"It was not me that put you under our hit list. It was my superiors who did so sighting the reason that you are indiscriminately killing anyone. I supported the decision at that time and declared you as an S-rank threat due to you being a strong mutant. But then I went deeper into your motive for killing those guys. It was either you were given a mercenary mission to eliminate them or you had a beef with those guys or you are just a psychopath."

'Ah, It must be Pierce and the other Hydra leaders that put my name on the top of the list. If they knew that I was the one that released Magneto on their bases, they would have spared no resources to kill me.' Law thought pitying the Hydra which was still getting attacked by the brotherhood of mutants.

"From your previous missions, You only killed individuals with various crimes like murder, r*pe and other such crimes. Then I decided to investigate about the guys that you have killed."

"The government officials were all that had various cases of corruption and murder on them but the cases were shut down after some time without any evidence. Not only that..."
