13 Chapter 13: Dilemma

Law slowly walked up towards the German Mafia boss.

The Mafia boss shouted in a panicked tone

"No! We were supposed to capture you!

This... This can't be happening! We're supposed to be the unstoppable ones"

As Law reached the Mafia boss, he pulled him up with his collar and asked him "Now tell me which organisation you belong to?"

To this question the mafia boss started laughing hysterically and said "You want to know the name of my organisation? You sure you won't get scared and run away after hearing its name?"

Law did not say anything and just started holding the mafia boss's collar more tightly.

"Alright alright. Normally, I would rather die than tell you about our organisation. But you will know about them soon enough as they will send more of us after you to hunt you down."

"Our organisation is the symbol of power and resilience, it represents the embodiment of true strength. We are the defenders of a righteous path, a beacon of hope for those who yearn for structure amidst the pandemonium. With our unwavering commitment to order and control, we cleanse the world of its weaknesses, paving the way for a brighter future. We undergo rigorous training which is given to us by the organisation honing our bodies and minds to perfection. We forge ourselves into warriors, ready to strike fear into the hearts of our enemies. We embrace the darkness, understanding that true strength lies in acknowledging and harnessing the shadows within ourselves."

"The organisation's influence permeates all aspects of society, its tendrils reaching far and wide. From the highest echelons of power to the depths of the forgotten corners, we infiltrate, manipulate, and seize control. We understand the delicate art of influence, shaping the world to suit our vision. And those who dare to oppose us, who stand in the way of progress, are swiftly dealt with. We are....."

"Cut the crap and get to the name of your organisation. You are boring me to sleep here. Although I might already know the name of your organisation with that monologue of yours." Law said frustrated at the cringe introduction of the organisation the guy belonged to.

"Tremble at the mention of our name, for we are Hydra, the symbol of strength, unity, and unwavering devotion." He said with a proud as well as a foolish look.

'Called it.'

'Looks like I have caught the attention of Hydra. But I am not scared of them anymore since I am strong enough to deal with them.' Law thought

The reason Law did not want to just hunt all of Hydra right away is because they were everywhere and he does not have mind reading powers to differentiate between them. Also, If they find his identity through some ways, they could just target him by targeting his friends.

But Law had a bigger dilemma on his hands right now.

"Are all of you Hydra, even the mutants?" Law asked

"All of us are hydras as for the mutants they are from a close associate of Hydra." He said

'I still haven't gotten over the fact that I killed someone by crushing his heart and now I would have to kill these hydra agents. I have no ability to change memories and I have no doubt that these brain washed soldiers would keep coming after me if I spare them.' Law thought

Law wanted to enjoy his new life after being bedridden his entire previous life. He doesn't consider himself a hero nor a villain. Perhaps an anti hero but he is not sure about it too.

This act of heroism that he did for the past year is because he wanted to make the city, he lives in peaceful and where his friends, their parents and his acquaintances can live safely. These acquaintances include the coffee shop owner where he goes to drink coffee every other day or the kind lady in the next building and many other people who he has met. He didn't want them to die to a random street thug.

That's why he also kept his range of operations entirely to New York. He didn't even plan on continuing this after spiderman or other heroes start operating and doing this stuff.

Seriously why would he go out of his way to help people when there are other heroes doing it for free. He could focus his attention on other things like world ending threats, making him self an organisation, setting up a business, research, his love life and so much more.

If you thought that he was some hero fighting for justice and saving the world. You've got it all wrong. He fights for his own interests, his own survival.

Sometimes, the people he helped or will help are just a means to an end. It's not about being a hero; it's about protecting what's his, staying one step ahead.

Law won't deny that he has made choices driven by self-interest. But in this world where there are and will be individuals and organisations with superpowers, it's a survival of the fittest. Sometimes, you have to play dirty to make a difference, to keep those you care about safe.

Yes, He might not be that close to many people but he would eventually start caring about other people that are involved in his life as his stay in this world increases.

"You scared now? Yes we are from Hydra. Count your days of freedom before Hydra captures you." The Mafia boss said with a smirk

Law looked at him and said "I was just thinking how should I kill you all."

"Hahaha, The black mask killing people? We have researched about you and know you don't kill people. Even if you do then you would get hunted by not only Hydra but the police, army and other organisations." He said confidently

"True, Black Mask doesn't kill people but Death Surgeon does." Law said
