46 Chapter 46 Delegating Tasks

While engrossed in my work I heard the door open as Gwen and Ned entered the building led by the Scouts.

Gwen didn't exactly look too interested in them as she made her way to me holding a lunch box. This wasn't the case when it came to Ned.

He was probing and poking the robots all over as he marveled at their design. If these robots had actual thoughts then I'm sure they would have complained accusing him of sexual harassment.

"Kol I brought you some food. It might be a bit old since I made it in the morning." Gwen said as she placed it on my desk.

"Thanks, Gwen I'm starving" Without hesitation I quickly swallowed the food down barely even chewing.

She just gave me an annoyed look but was happy that I at least ate.

"Hey man, um… about my request" Ned said as he glanced over at the scout shyly. Causing me to choke on my food as I got the message.

"Look, I won't make that sort of robot." I would make a lot of things but that was not one of them.

Ned looked a little confused before he looked like he realized something.

"I didn't mean that kind of robot! Just a girl robot for me to talk to. There's a girl in class I want to talk to but can't so I wanted to practice with it."

I checked his visual cues before confirming that he was telling the truth.

So he really just wants a robot girl to talk to? Hmm, maybe that one would work. I thought to myself as I imagined Curie from Fallout 4. She had I really nice personality and was one of my favorite characters in the franchise.

I already had the knowledge and knew how to make the personality matrix needed for it. The technology was also simpler at least when compared to the Chappies.

"Do you mind how she looks?" I asked wondering if I'd need to make some adjustments. Since her original form wasn't exactly human in any way.

"Not really just make sure she has a good personality" Ned said with enthusiasm

"Alright, I'll try and make some time to make it."

Gwen just watched us as she wondered what it was we were talking about. Seeing her look I just waved my hand showing it was nothing big.

Once I was done with the lunch box I cleaned off the table as I brought out the VR tech I was working on. It didn't look like much at the moment but it was slowly coming together.

"This is the reason why I called you guys over" I said as I presented the helmet. Giving them the chance to look it over for a little while before I explained things.

Give them the chance to look it over for a little while before I explain things.

"Umm, what's this for?" Gwen said as she tried it on

"That my friend is the Nerve Gear, a small piece in my newest pet project Virtual Reality."

"W-what" Gwen exclaimed as she took it off and placed it back on the desk

"You can't be serious right? Virtual Reality is something that shouldn't exist for at least a couple more decades. There's so much we still don't know about our own brains let alone making technology to interact with it creating an imaginary space." Ned said as he brought up the world's current limitations.

"That's true but I've already figured it out so no need to wait decades. The future is here."

Gwen who had already regathered her bearings took another look at the headset before asking "Is this another product you plan on selling?"

"This? No, not for a while. The VR is more for us but I've reached a point in my work where progress is slow. Which is why I need your help. I want the three of us to complete the technology together while Peter handles some of his personal business."

They both looked excited at the idea but also a bit discouraged. Programming games was one thing but this was something else entirely.

"Won't we hold you back? We don't know anything about this sort of thing" Gwen asked with some worry

"I know you're not experts on this but that's why I've already compiled a lot of schematics and guidelines for the parts each of you will work on. It may be a lot but I believe In the both of you."

Both of them looked touched by my words as they looked at the headset with some determination.

I was glad to see this sort of reaction from them as this was the whole reason for me including them in the company in the first place. Each one of them was a genius in their own right and had great potential if the comics were anything to go by.

Now add in the diverse array of technology I knew of and you had a recipe for success. This would also lessen the pressure on me once I start giving them their own projects to work on as they make their own discoveries.

"Alright man you can count on us" Ned said as he pulled out a soldering tool.

"You better be ready Kol or we might leave you in the dust." Gwen added with a bit of a haughty attitude as she stuck out her tongue playfully

"Haha, alright I'd like to see you both try" With their added help I brought out all of the equipment needed as well as plenty of notes I already had prepared along with the schematics. With everything ready I began delegating tasks as the workshop became a symphony of progress.

Gwen and Ned were in charge of building the Supercomputer meant to house the server. While I focused on the finer details of the nerve gears software.

Watching them work confirmed my decisions in

Including them as they learned the job fast, making great progress.

With some quick calculations, I figured that now it would take around 2 weeks for the VR to be ready. Cutting the original projected completion date by half.

While Kol and his friends focused on their tasks of making VR technology real. Someone else was also hard at work hidden beneath the city in the sewers.

[Connors]

"No no no no no! I could have been perfect… It's all because of Spider-Man and that Robot." Connors cried out as he scratched at his missing limb now in human form.

Yet despite being human it seemed that the serum had already done its damage to the doctor's mind. Causing him to have random fits of anger and moments of madness as he worked hard in his makeshift lab.

While in the middle of one of his episodes, he suddenly heard the television mentioning some interesting piece of news.

[Hello everyone we are here outside of Dagon Technologies but it seems that they still refuse to comment. For those who aren't aware they were the company responsible for making a breakthrough in robotics. Which led to their prototype saving many lives when he interfered with a Mutant attack.]

"Mutant! I'm no Mutant! I am the next step in human evolution." Connors exclaimed at the tv hoping it would take back its words.

[Kol Dagon is the main person credited with the creation of the machine now being dubbed as Scout thanks to one of our insiders. Who mentioned that he arrived at the police station with the machine. However, there has also been no confirmation on this as of yet with the company remaining quiet.]

"Kol Dagon… Interesting. I'll make sure to make both you and Spider-man pay. That I promise"

With a new ambition in his heart, Connors went back to work as he prepared a new serum to enact his vengeance.

All while different videos played on his screens from past logs as they mentioned his cruel plan of forcibly evolving the rest of New York.
