36 Space fight

Going back in time to the other side of the portal that the teams led by Magneto and Adam Warlock entered, the war began the moment they came out of the other side.

On Magneto's side, the first task they had to complete was to take over the ship they entered in the shortest amount of time without causing too much destruction. They wanted to use that ship as a starting base so that they can begin their attack on the other ships.

Although the ship was alien and highly advanced, there were still mutant powers that could counter that. Forge, a Native American mutant had the unique ability to intuitively understand any machinery that was in his visual range. He could understand their use and how to use them even if he didn't know the principles used to make those devices.

And thus, the cyborg mutant was chosen as a pilot for the spaceship. The battle itself was easy. Led by Magneto, everyone just followed while covering his back. The metallic guns and armor used by the Chitauri were like kids' toys in the hands of Magneto. He waved his hands and the aliens and crushed them in waves.

Taking over the ship was not exactly easy though. Since the Queen controlled the hive, she was alerted of the invaders. Realizing the powers of the invaders, the Queen wanted to let the ship self-destruct or be destroyed by the combined firing of the other ships.

"Destroy the device on the lower 5th section's third room that looks like this. Do it as fast as you can or this ship will blow up with us in it." Forge showed the group the image of the device that the Queen used to control the ship.

When they found out the exact location of the device, it was easy for them to destroy it. Vaman just created a portal to the 5thsection they had passed when clearing out the aliens and then found and destroyed the device.

"It's you destructive guys' turn now. We will try to board other ships so make sure you keep in touch and make sure you don't destroy the ones that we are fighting in." Forge said to Magneto, Rudra, Iceman, and the others.

They each had a suit designed for space maneuverability for a short time and they themselves even had powers they could use in space to move freely. Now all they needed to do was bring destruction to the alien fleets.

Magneto crushed the metallic parts of the ships with his ability, Rudra fired destructive beams that created holes in the ships and Iceman froze the smaller ships. The others used their powers to attack the ships as well.

As expected, in a battle like this, Magneto's powers shone through. He was destroying one ship after another, only leaving unusable metal behemoths floating in space behind him. He was riding a literal wave of metallic parts while maneuvering around the shots at him.

Or it was more appropriate to say that the energy attacks were maneuvering around Magneto's electromagnetic shield that he had around himself. He was an unstoppable menace on the battlefield and most of the aliens focused on him.

This gave plenty of opportunities for the others who were acting more stealthily to employ more guerilla-like tactics. Trying to remain invisible through any possible means like magic and swiftly attacking and leaving the scene.

They had also divided the battlefield into zones. Nobody wanted to be around the zones that Magneto and Rudra were handling. Second only to Magneto, Rudra was sending out destructive beams that would even stick to the shields of the alien ships and continuously explode and destroy them.

He himself was covered by a shield made of the same energy. Any attack on him would only create a blast on the shield and push him to float back into space. Rudra would then create a blast in the opposite direction to move forward again and continue throwing the exploding beam of energy.

His whole beam was like a bunch of sticky nano-bombs that he could control freely so his destructive power was great. He only fell behind Magneto because his attacks were more focused and could only hit one target at a time. Magneto on the other hand was sending out area-of-effect attacks at all times.

The others were doing their own part by infiltrating the ships and destroying them from the inside. A space battle thus ensued between the earthlings and the Chitauri. It's just that there were no battleships on the side of Earth. But the battle still raged on.

Because the Chitauri were following Thanos' ship and the ship itself had been stopped due to the attacks from Adam and the group, the Chitauri fleet had to stop as well. This provided the earthlings some breathing space. If the Chitauri were to actually scatter and head to Earth, they had no way to stop it.

Fortunately for them, Thanos didn't have the mood or the time to take care of the Chitauri. The goal for going to Earth was the stones that had already appeared in front of him so he didn't give orders to retreat or advance. He simply had the stones and the methods to acquire them in his mind.

When Adam appeared with his team in the throne room of Thanos, Thanos was a bit surprised but more than that, he was happy. With a smile, he spoke, "I see that you come bearing gifts, Adam Warlock. It's good that you saved me some precious time."

Adam shook his head, "You know why we are here. We know about your plans. Hand over the infinity gems and I can spare your life."

Thanos laughed, "If I could enter her realm so easily, do you think I would do something so tiresome? I can't die, Warlock, so there is no use threatening me with death. If anything, I welcome her. Now hand over the two stones in your hand and I will grant one of your wishes after I have the power I desire."

Tony snorted, "Why are you talking to a lunatic? Just beat him up and snatch it from him."

Dr. Strange chimed in as well, "As much as I hate how Tony makes us sound like street thugs, I agree with him. There is no point in talking with him. You can see he won't change his mind."

Adam sighed, "So be it then. If you need a fight to be convinced, let's fight."

With Adam's announcement, blue and green energies covered his two hands and he flew straight at Thanos. He started punching and throwing energy blasts at Thanos. The others started to join the fight too.

Blue Marvel threw his anti-matter energy at Thanos, Bruce Banner transformed into Hulk and jumped at Thanos with a punch, Thor swung his hammer, The Thing was running at Thanos, Dr. Strange used spells to bind Thanos and Jean tried to freeze Thanos' mind.

Through all this, Thanos just stood still and only waved his hand that had the gauntlet with the rest of the four gems. All the attacks on Thanos then just disappeared or hit a shield. Only Adam's energy blasts and punch went through but Thanos caught them with his other hand.

"You don't understand what kind of power these gems hold. Even without the other two stones, you are all still ants to me. I will show you what real power looks like." Thanos waved his hand again and the ship they were fighting in suddenly turned into the surface of a planet.

"This is all real. We are on a real planet right now. He rewrote reality to turn the ship into a planet." Reed exclaimed while fiddling with some devices and sensors.

"This is just the beginning." Thanos smiled and suddenly lunged at Adam. Adam slowed down Thanos' time and reached for Thanos' gauntlet but Thanos sped up again. Adam had to get away.

When Adam teleported away, Thanos' punch didn't stop but kept going until it reached the place where Tony and Reed were standing.

Reed was focused on the device but Tony reacted quickly and caught Reed by his hand and flew back while launching missiles at Thanos. Although Tony was fast, Thanos' punch grazed Reed's arm. It was just a graze but it was enough to disintegrate his whole arm and part of his shoulder.

"Be careful!" Adam screamed and sent a green energy beam at Reed while pursuing Thanos. Reed's hand regrew as if time was reversed and he came out of the shock from the pain.

Thanos kept attacking the others in a variety of ways, like mind-controlling Hulk, punching Jean with a power stone, erasing Thor's hammer from reality, and more. Adam could only play catch up and try to keep his teammates alive using the time stone.

"No! This is just an illusion! We are in an illusion." Jean suddenly shouted at the group, stunning them.

Suddenly the world in front of them shattered and when they came back to their senses, they saw a battered Adam warlock lying down on the ground at Thanos' feet. Adam was bound with vile magic and the source of said magic, Mephisto, was standing behind Thanos with his creepy smile.
